This song always brings tears to my eyes. I am a 70 year old man, and that was my prayer 6 years ago when my wife, and my love and partner in life, died. She was my second wife, but my only true love. We had 20 wonderful years together, and she made me a much better man. I love her and miss her so much. RIP Patty, my one true love
The mother doesn't die that's her at the end of the video running to the father and son with the picnic basket. When Tim says Johnny's daddy was taking him fishing when he was 8 years old at the end it was Johnny Jr.
This song perfectly depicts how perceptions often change over time. The line "don't take the girl" doesn't change, but its' meaning and the motivation behind it does. Keep rockin' and stay heavy! Wishing everyone peace, love, and good happiness stuff from the mountains of northeastern Alabama 🤘
One of those songs that weigh heavy on your heart. I don’t know if anyone has suggested this one in the past. I go back to AM radio and hearing this one by Bobby Goldsboro. I recall it being a gray overcast rainy day when I first heard this song as I got ready to go out to the bus stop for school. The song was called Honey.
@@shelleytorok1406 I agree. Out of all those kind of songs this is #1 (for me, anyway). Always makes me get something in my eye. Definitely one for a "reaction video".
TNT coming in hot as always. This is one of Tim’s top 3 hits all time. I can’t mess with it too much because I don’t need to be seen with that ugly cry in my life, but this song was always a great depiction of how life is beautiful yet fragile and how quickly it can change.
Exactly the kind of song that makes reaction videos great. You can only hear this song for the first time once. But seeing someone else go through the experience brings us back to the first time we heard it. Great reaction as usual, guys.
I'm not gonna lie, you could see that he would do the same thing for you girl. It was a all over his face. That's what we all strive for!!! That was amazing!!!!
Great reactions. Love the thoughts and keep up the great reactions. I believe the lady running to them at the end of the video is the mom...she was spared:)
I just found you guys and I love this song! BTW, she doesn't die. If you watch the end of the video, Johnny is taking "little Johnny" fishing and she comes running down with a picnic basket.
Don't fear. My first son was an emergency c-section, 2nd son was scheduled. My mother with my younger sister was on her death bed after c-section. Hemorrhaging softball size blood clots. Priest came and gave her last rights. She survived. She survived cancer, she is also dealing with fibromyalgia and vasculitis
Your guys review of this one,.. spot on.. there's a lot of Old Country Tunes that tell great stories and still to this day tug on my heart strings. The late great Townes Van Zandt was quoted saying, "pick it and it will never heal", he was great at picking the guitar Appalachian Style..
I love listening to some of my favorite and/or familiar songs thru your eyes (or is it ears 😉). You help me relive my own moments when I first heard the song(s). Thank you! I love you guys 💕 Don't stop what you're doing.
No body died! if go back to the ending of the video you will see the father holding hands with his son and the mother coming up behind them with a basket in her hands going to have lunch outside!!!!!
T AND T, to BOTH of you ... the very thing that PROVES that you are successful, is the person sitting right next to you !!! You are both very special people ... that is clear. Merry Christmas 🤶to you both !!! I hope you have many, MANY more ...
This song makes me cry every time, and when yall were laughin over the beginnin, i was sittin there like "just u wait, its so bittersweet when you listen the second, third, time"
I have loved this song for a long time. I just wanted to tell you that in the video, the doctor says she won’t make it but he falls to his knees and pleads with God to take him instead but at the very end you see a woman with them taking the sun fishing. She makes it because he prayed to God to let her stay. It’s about how love is the strongest power in the world.
I remember making people who didn't listen to country listen to this song. They all swore it had some kind of song 'magic' that made you cry. May be some truth to that, but I believe it's just good storytelling. You got to know the couple and now you don't know if she died or not....the song before the video was more impactful but the video made us speculate . There was a woman running at the end, was that her?!?! LOL fun memories.
I know this is a reupload but she survived. The Johnny at the end is their son. She named him after his daddy. That's her running toward them with the basket at the end.
Thank you guys for reacting to this Country song 1st of all, but watch the ending again and you'll see that it DIDN'T have a sad ending.........you'll see the mother running to them! God heard his plea....."take the very breath that you gave me, take the heart from my chest"!.......the family lived, all of them......
This is probably the one song that no matter how many times I hear it, I'm in tears by the end - even in public! I tend not to cry in public, but this song is just so..... UGH! /cryin'
Yall should watch that video back. I was literally in TEARS watching what you mean to your man. Omg!!! I have that. It is so rare, but you can literally see that and how much he loves you in 30 seconds of that video about "his momma is fading fast." I lost it. That is what most women dream of. Watch his eyes on you when that's said. . .
Such a great reaction. There's a happy ending. The "Girl" now the mom lives. :). Country and "Oldies" { Rock-N-Roll } from the 50's and 60's are the 2 music genres I listen to the most ; but I listen to most genres.
This song really is something else, I can relate to this so much. When I was 5 years old my dad would take me fishing with his best friends daughter kaylinda and we would listen to this song. I felt the same way, I did not want her to come because my father was always helping her and cheering her on when she caught a fish. She was my childhood crush but we never dated. Looking back they were good times!
My mom always blared the radio as a kid on weekends, this is one of the first songs I remember, and have always pictured having a woman I loved this much. I think this type of love is lost these days, these type of men. It is sad, but it's real.
She does not die. If you heard this on the radio you would not know this. But if you watch the video the music video you can see her in the end. She's the lady who's running to them as they're getting ready to go fishing.
Country music has a certain heart and soul, or sometimes attitude, which is hard to pin down but you know it when you hear it. Even artists who's sound isn't at all traditionally country, Keith Urban for example, connect somehow.
I believe that there are three places in music to still feel that connection. Country of course. R&B, Real Rhythm & Blues. And Singer-Song writers, who also tells a story about their life.
Nice to know more and more current generation are opening to softer thoughtful music - music and song that doesn't beat you over the head with obscenities and vulgarity - AND - you can understand the lyrics - nice reaction
The song doesn’t end on a cliff hanger. The song ends with the line “ Johnny’s daddy was taking him fishing when he was 8 years old” he named his son Johnny. That line was the start of his sons life by taking him fishing.
