It's interesting than TnY started this best of 5 with exactly 5997 wins on his account, meaning winning the series would involve hitting 6k wins by beating Artosis
@@SeeAndDreamify I think the gateway strat was a panic switch, it didn't look as practiced and seemed very improvised. Still caught Artosis by surprise though
Honestly speaking, despite Artosis general bitching about P being broken, I have to say that on bgh, it actually is. the map being huge allows for multiple ninja exp that are really far for terran to snipe, and the double gas in main grants a free carrier rush pretty much every time. I'm sure if this was played on any random ladder map, TnY would not have taken a single game from Artosis, but on bgh it was quite close. Also count that if the spawns are 2 close, which can happen at 1-3 , 6-7 and expecially 11-12 P has a very easy game harassing T while expanding already anywhere else on the map. Even if P gets somehow choked in main, which on regular maps means a win for T automatically, on bgh it isn't really a big deal because of the infinite minerals and the big distance from all the other ninja expos he can take. I have to say bgh is an extremely frustrating map to play for T against P.
@@ModusOperandi2009 that doesnt seem to do anything for T on this map, as you've seen carriers can be massed so fast that T is on a timer to push out so turtling up doesnt help.
@@yangpaan453 Agreed, you noticed that last game he just made a timing push and crippled the P right when he needed to. 2 carriers is much better to deal with than 10. Pillow forting against a P on BGH is near suicide unless you really know what you're doing, and even then you can get really unlucky.
I'm so happy to see this, BGH is halfway between a regular map and Fastest so it was interesting to see. I'm scared a little because don't think many people will like this 1 hour long format but I appreciate it. A little bit more variety would have been better but so is life. Protoss strategy: -Play BGH. -Carriers. -Win.
I used to have friendly 1v1s with tny back in the day, he sure had many people who didn't like him but he was on my friends list. I did have one game where I smurf 1v1d him tvp and nuke rushed him, replay might still be out there lol. Good times.
for someone who likes timing attacks, it took Arty till 5th game, to realize that early stage of carrier buildings puts protoss in a vulnerable position
I dunno why In game two as he’s taking out his nexus artosis sees the carriers. His reaction is to build 4 tech buildings and continue depot production instead of mass turrets with goliaths behind that. He def has a solid 2 minutes to get some static defenses up
Arty: Sees carriers when he goes mech. Also Arty: Starts building 3 starports instead of spamming gols and turrets at his main Also Arty: Toss is op because terra can't build starports and mass wraith before finished carriers fly across map.
I feel like BGH was literally the only map he could do carriers like this. His goon harass was so bad yet he was still able to get into that many carriers game 2. He didn't need to expand. Any other competitive map and he doesn't take a map.
That was interesting. Clearly protoss player was worse Starcraft player than Arto but map knowledge gave him some level of edge. I think it was somewhat balanced and was unsure who would win best of 5. Well done!
24:45 the fact arty didn’t just throw down a dozen turrets at home right then to buy time for goliaths is on him. At that point you need to just stay alive until you can best the carriers
I don't think he knew that on a map with lots of resourses the protoss player default setting is to go to carriers. Either that or he underestimated his opponent.
Regardless, he won a best of 5 on a map he had virtually no experience on against a person who has over 10,000 hours of experience on it. If Artosis played this guy 100 times on bgh he would probably end up winning the last 50 in a row.
He also did not prioritize making goliaths , he could’ve had 8 and a wraith or two with the next 4 ready to pop out if he started production as soon as he saw the carriers 💀
@@Rogerdodger1995 yea ... if he was doing commentary on this game, he would have begged Terran to get Goliaths .. he did so many times in these situations ... lets face it ... Arty was not in his prime state of mind these games
Protons is OP because Terran has to be completely reactive, 'toss has many game-ending cheeses, and Terran move-out has to be flawless. Even then toss can backstab.
how is it reactive? just build some tech and push. thanks to narrow roads you have a shitload of good positions to take. if he actually builds zeals/goons just wait till 200 limit and upgrades then he dies
@@tictacterminator With fatslob, it's not whether or not he wins... It's whether or not he makes someone play an 8 hour game and cry himself to sleep at night.
He was going mech until he was able to scout stargate tech and lack of an army for his opponent with his vultures which is a huge tipoff that opponent is going carrier. Arty didn't have his armory yet so he threw down a bunch of barracks because he wouldn't have time to get into goliaths.
that was brilliant by Artosis. He figured that's the perfect counter against early carriers, because mm work quite fine against them if they're still in the 4-5 range, while goliaths take up 2 much gas and would have taken 2 long to push.
About the scout, I think on this map u have to go after make a depot. Even think about one scv each direction to see what the gameplay will be for prottoss. I think the less worse to this map is marine, tank and goliaths. I think you need to take the close expansion cause if not the economy don't grow fast enough. I don't think marine only is good cause he can just switch and attack on ground. But maybe we should just ask flash 📸
Actually, on BGH i scout straight after starting 1st pylon (on 7 population). Also most players are ok not expanding ... this is BGH (not regular hunters), just make a lot of SCV/drones/probes, and you won't know how to spend it.
I've probably played hundreds of games on Hunters - which is why I watched Arty play on the map with great interest. In the first game he builds tons of marines with medics and siege tanks and goes to destroy the opponent's base - WHILE BARELY escaping his own base being destroyed by mass carriers. How he escaped destruction was impressive. In the second game he also builds siege tanks - except he doesn't have marines - and THERE ARE NO TURRETS IN THE MAIN until too late - at which point there is ONE. DUDE. You've almost lost previous game because of no turrets. In the second game you don't have marines - AND YET YOU FORGET TURRETS - AGAIN - this time you don't even have bunkers. The moment Arty spots/hears carriers - he should have built a forest of turrets in his main - yet he's fiddling around with siege tanks in the opponents base (which are going to be killed anyway). Jesus, Arty - I've never been able to say this - because your level of play is one of the top 100 globally - but this was sloppier than I could ever have played. Will show this game to my kid - on how NOT TO PLAY - ie, how not to be sloppy. So I guess - thanks for that, greetings from Latvia. Edited: and most hilariously, he rages about the game that it's "broken" and that Protoss is OP. No, Arty. JUST NO.
With this map its to easy to go nexus first and have your first carrier before artosis can scout. Then if you do counter carrier protoss can switch into anything and finish you.
Honestly a fun series to watch. But also frustrating to see how OP some P strategies are. Like P can get DTs so early and then do anything they want behind it basically. And T just cannot leave their base to do anything about it basically until they get to science vessels, which is way fkin late and P can already easily have some carriers by then.
That guy he played against is actually so infuriating to watch. "i could beat artosis in a bo5 lol" when all he does is carrier - except for 1 game which just so happens to be the only game artosis didnt have tanks. how can you think youre good if you rely on ONLY making 1 high tier unit asap. Any donkey can get out carriers..
@@skykur its not the best strat. as you can see it can be easily countered. protoss played it 4 times and won 1 vs unexpecting opponent. Arty could have won g2 too if played correctly, just mass turrets after seeing carriers, your economy will prevail when you killed opp's nexus
"wow i didn't expect mm" guy clearly wasn't watching ASL casts then. If he did he would have known that in season 10 Ro16 group B losers match protoss player rushed carriers and died to early scouting of terran player who, as you guessed, spammed marines. Edit: ASL Season 11 Ro24 day6 Winners match Mong vs Mini
and if you scout him and he is not building army, only probes and carriers go kill him every time like last game. But Arty didn't scout like he should every game...
He plays bgh because he doesn't want to play straight up. He tries playing ladder and gets 2 fact all day probably. So he instead plays bgh to do "real strategies" and avoid all the "sweaty nerds" and their "macro" and "builds"
@@Virtua.. If I'm not mistaken Artosis got last scout in that game. Last scout on an 8 player map is horrible (that's why bgh sucks). If the guy played ht/arbiter every game, Artosis would get to play mech and would roll him. If Artosis gets a late scout he can easily get unlucky either by playing mech and then oops it was fast carriers, or playing MM and oops it was HT.
imo he could have waited 2nd nexus to go for carriers because the distance in general on bgh heavily favours P. T can't really push for anything if P chokes him at the mid while trying to get out. but I guess he knew Artosis was better than him so he tried to abuse carriers asap
