Army Commander has revealed that the Army will fire its first rounds towards Kilinochchi by next week.

He expressed confidence that the Air Force will take over the rest of the area and will show the world whether it is Colombo or Kilinochchi that is waging war. The Army Commander expressed his gratitude to the media personnel and organisations for the support extended to encourage them and to show the real sistuation to the world. He said they are only four kilometres away from Kilinochchi and was confident that the media will fulfil their responsibility on behalf of the nation.
The Army Commander was addressing the launch of the book Wanni Hatana. The event was organised at the National Library Services Board Auditorium in Colombo yesterday. The book deals on the dangerous journey towards Kilinochchi from Silawatura in the Wanni. Tissa Ravindra Perera presented first copies of the book to the Army Commander, Air Force Chief Air Marshall Roshan Gunatilake and Director of the Civil Defence Force Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekera. He had earlier authored two books on military operations.
Air Force Chief Roshan Gunatilake said Prabhakaran has a smaller area to hide. With the advancement of the troops they are obtaining more intelligence reports. They get information about the whereabouts of Prabhakaran and he would be traced soon. Civil Defence Force Director Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekera said those who are attempting to discourage the soldiers and undermine their victories are terrorists.
Military Spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara, Naval Media Spokesman Comm. D.K.P. Dassanayake and Air Force Spokesman Wing Comm. Janaka Nanayakkara were among those present.
