"To Anacreon in Heaven" A.K.A. The Drinking Song (Lyric Video)

While my old channel, MrJacon000 got terminated in early 2021, I'm still keeping this historical piece of American history on RU-vid. I originally published the first version of the Anacreon in Heaven video back on November 29th, 2011, the year I created my channel. Back then, I recorded the video from my laptop's speakers and covered the webcam because my 12-year-old self didn't know how to screen record the audio and publish it at a higher quality. 6 and a half years later, I decided to upload a higher quality version with the lyrics on screen. Despite the high view count of over 235,000 views before the termination, it's a shame to see that go away. At least I still have access to this video and I shall remain the carrier of the origin of the United State's National Anthem of the Star-Spangled Banner.
TL;DR: My old channel with this historic video got deleted due to it being terminated. I reuploaded it to educate people where the US National Anthem's melody came from.

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
Lyrics:
To Anacreon in Heaven, where he sat in full glee,
A few sons of harmony sent a petition,
That he their inspirer and patron would be;
When this answer arrived from the jolly old Grecian:
Voice, fiddle, and flute, no longer be mute,
I'll lend you my name and inspire you to boot,
And besides I'll instruct you like me to intwine,
The myrtle of Venus with Bacchus's vine.
--Words by Ralph Tomlinson, music by John Stafford Smith, about 1775
Almost all of you RU-vid viewers know that this is the same melody as "The Star-Spangled Banner".

Because "To Anacreon in Heaven" was originally sung by men and by men's singing clubs, it was sung quite low. Most people now cannot hit those low notes, so "The Star-Spangled Banner" is pitched higher.

Since before then , as I heard one of the things they were looking for in the new world was Sassafras ... and what comes from the root of the sassafras tree is what was the original drug Ecstasy or X . As a youth I used to love drinking sassafras tea which used to have trace amounts in it ... of course I didn't know this except that I enjoyed the tea and it just seemed to make me feel good . And then when I was a little bit older it was taken off the market for a while as the government claimed it cause cancer which is the BS . What I heard is all the sassafras has to be extracted first so it can be legally sold to the big Pharma companies to make medicinal grade X . I remember seeing people on TV talking about it saying decades ago they used to get the real stuff from their therapists and it used to help with a lot of their communicating about their feelings and healing for example being given it for marriage counseling sessions .

Also in the woods near me I found a large sassafras tree and I did hear the sassafras in them isn't really potent unless the tree is at least 30 years old . I haven't tried to harvest anything from it yet .

It's kind of fitting that Francis Scott Key used a drinking song for his song when you consider the *insane* amount of liquor Americans drank on a daily basis in the 19th century. 19th century Americans were hard-core drinkers, they probably went through at least one bottle of Whisky every single day, and that was neat, mindst you, no ice, no water, no soft drink mixers. It's part of the reason why the temperance movement was so popular by the mid 1800s, because most men were getting black-out drunk every day of the week, to the point of neglecting their wives and children.

Beer, not whiskey. Cider as well . Bacteria and other microscopic parasites in water was not well known, if at all. The boiling of water involved in making beer sanitized the water, and the alcohol kept it reasonably free of parasites. This wasn't just in the Americas - this was worldwide. The boiling process saved people's lives, beer was just the process that inadvertently did it for them. Generally, people drink what was called small beer, meaning it had very low alcohol content. Children drank it. It wasn't about getting drunk - it was just what people did, instead of contaminated water.

The irony of using a drinking song for your national anthem in a country where you cant drink before you are 21 and the beer is thin as piss ;)
@raynemichelle2996

The US national anthem was written 25 years before the establishment of any legal drinking age in the United States, when Wisconsin made it 18 to be able to purchase alcohol without parental consent. I wonder if children could by it with a note from their parents. My grandmother used to send my 5 year old mother to the store to pick up a pack of cigarettes. That's the 60s for ya.

@@raynemichelle2996 18 used to be the legal drinking age for all 50 US States, now the only way you can drink under the age of 21 in the US is to join the US Military where you drink at the base's Canteen, (the bar on base) when off duty aboard ship and even get alcohol at the Base Exchange (alternatively called PX or BX, must depend on where you are because I've heard both) because as I was told, "if you're old enough to die for your country, you're old enough to drink" (drive too)

Watch a stadium full of people in Scotland sing their anthem at a soccer game. When it's easy to sing, everyone is more inspired to join in and it is louder and more robust. WATCH THIS.
