Someone who hasn't seen index (anime) will think that's just one seriously incompetent golem. Those that have finally see how awesome Index (character) can be without using magic.
To be honest,even after finishing Index 2,I still only see Index as a competent support person,never a fighter...By herself she can cause massive disorder to the enemies,but never able to defeat them...Or is her competency lies in being in support role after all,which is why she is labeled awesome?

originally Index cant use magic herself.. but the "library" inside her head made her a candidate as a Majin(magic gods) well magic gods from the series are the strongest magician.. Aleister is the only magician syronger than them

The Golem alone yes, but don't forget that it was connected to Sherry, so unless Accelerator locates and eliminates Sherry, that Golem will get up every time it is knocked down and thus the fight will never end. And if it is the post-bullet Accelerator, then it would only last for 30 minutes as that is the time limit of your battery.
Index like have two different mind in one body. One mind is like kid, doesn't know how to use magic/spell, doesn't know how to defend herself, afraid , and another one is like matured person, know how to use magic/spell, cool and rilex. Look at 0:53, her face and the way she talk become different.
There's an inner "Self" and then there's Index. The arrangement keeps the books secret. The inner "Self" comes out only when Index is in mortal peril and uses the knowledge of the books to protect Index. Index can not access the books directly. Sounds like a split personality, but it isn't. The voices of the two "Selves" are different. I think the Church used magic to do this to her. I may be wrong in my explanation. It has been a while since I saw the series.
