Raymond does not deserve the hate. The fact that everyone hates them now is proof of mob mentality. It’s horrible how quickly it happened.

Why do people get SO angry when people talk about Raymond? He’s a little bundle of joy and I love him. Most people don’t just like him because he’s popular. They like him because he’s a sweetheart. I swear the same people who hate on Raymond are the same people who are obsessed with Marshal. Who’s also a popular villager. Anyway- just like people like who they like.

ok but seriously i feel like all the people who are charging real life (or actually even in-game) money for visiting their island, designs, etc are kinda missing the point of the game. it’s not a way for you to make easy cash or gain popularity. it’s escapism and above else a really sweet and fun game where people can express themselves and share their creations and experiences with everyone around them. Edit for all the people who are saying that they bought the game so they should be aloud to do with it what they please: Of course you are aloud to play it as you please. I can’t restrict how you play the game and in the end, i don’t really care that much either. If you bought your dream villager, i’m glad you have them now, i just personally feel like it brakes the bubble of finding them on a mystery island so i myself wouldn’t do it (but in the end i’m just happy that you got your dream villager and i don’t really care how). This was more about the people who are basically going “oh you have bad turnip prices? mine are 500 per turnip. give me a million bells and you can come sell them on my island.”. I was just expressing my opinion and i really wasn’t trying to gatekeep and i’m sorry if i seemed hostile in some way. (Also i’m sorry for how long this comment is now)

I actually like Raymond because of his personality. I originally invited him to my island because I needed more residents and I couldn’t find Fang (and I don’t have his Amiibo card because they’re expensive and you’re not even guaranteed to get the one you want), but I wasn’t expecting him to have hidden depths. He has moments where he actually shows vulnerability and self-consciousness, and I find that really cute. And yes, I realize that any villager with the same personality will have that same depth, but he’s the only smug villager on my island, so it’s not really an issue.

Everyone deserves there own special place on the island.

Just because he is popular doesn’t mean you have to spread hate towards him. You can like whatever villagers you want to like. Also,why am i crying?

This video is like me. I always feel so alone and anyone who reaches out to me, I get sappy and thankful for them. I used to get bullied so much in school and by religious kids- I never felt like I belonged anywhere up until 2019, when I came to LA for a BTS concert. Everyone I met was so nice and I met my bf that week too. I moved here to be with him and have been so much more happy. I still have dark times on occasion where my inner demons tell me stuff like he doesn’t love me or I don’t belong, but as soon as my bf and I cuddle- all of it melts away. I wish I could have Raymond so I could shower him with love and make sure he is happy.

While I will agree he is overrated, and that he's basically the same bundle of dialogue as however many other smug villagers, that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with him or the people that like him. Ankha and countless others are the same way. If you like Raymond, cool. If you hate Raymond, cool. If you're just jumping on the bandwagon and doing what's popular, that's not cool, and you need to stop.

Okay, so, I'm going to say this: If you don't want to see Raymond (or any other character) just stop watching content that obviously relates to him. Avoid it. It's not hard at all. Stop hating on people who like him just because you don't. It doesn't effect you pyhsically, so there's no need to put others down because they simply like a character. The same goes for some Raymond fans. If you find someone who doesn't like Raymond, accept that it's their opinion. You don't need to defend against someone's opinion, because it's an opinion. Opinions can't be right or wrong, that's why they're opinions. If you love a character, then do it! If you hate on someone for having an opinion, you're going to be fighting a losing battle. Hating on people who don't like him will most likely result in them disliking the character even *more.* Hate and love whatever character you want, just please don't suffocate others with your opinion. I personally like Raymond. If you don't, then that's perfectly fine. Hating on people for simply liking or disliking something is completely stupid. When I saw him I didn’t know he wold be so popular. He reminded me of my cat that passed away. She looked very similar and had heterochromia. I still am very emotional about her and seeing him on my island made me feel like I had my baby back. When I saw him on the nmt island I broke down and had to put my switch down for a while. Watching him walk around and talk to all my other villagers is one of the things that truly warms my heart. I’ve been attacked over and over and insulted by people. I can’t give him up because he is too dear to me. That cat was one of the only things that helped me through my depression and when I had nobody I had her, when she passed away it felt like I had lost everything dear to me. I’ve had a very rough life but through everything, my little baby was there to purr and rub her head on me. Thank you Raymond for existing. When things get hard i will always be able to look forward to loading up my island and following you around, watching you run and sing. Even if it’s not real, it means the world to me. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you you aren’t good enough, you are beloved because you’re a treasure. At least, to me you are.

I just don't get why people are so hateful towards a pixelated cartoon cat just for being overrated. I myself agree that he's overrated, but does that stop me from loving him? No. We all shouldn't let a character's popularity ruin them for us in general. Of course, you can dislike Raymond for other reasons, like design and whatnot, but it just doesn't make sense to hate him just because he's really popular.
