It's amazing what a song do with the heart and the soul. Even after 20 years, "The Lion King" still is amazing and the proof that the time really transform a movie in a classic. I can see every part of the sequence of stampede in my mind, each chord and each sound... the motion of the characters, Scar walking on the cliff, knocking in Zazu and when he shocks himself on the wall, and of course, the fall of Mufasa... well, everything, just with a music. It's really the MOST AMAZING ANIMATION OF ALL TIME!

+WAR OF THE GEMS dude, a quote of Jack Sparrow can explain our frustration about today and the days that gone: "The world's still the same. There's just... less in it."
Antônio Ramon and the animation angles of this film puts u right in the shoes of the characters, seeing their fears of Simba being killed or Mufasa having to watch his child almost getting killed
This soundtrack is still one of Hans Zimmer's best works. And this theme is one of the best in the entire soundtrack. Mufasa's death is unforgettable on its own, but Hans' music made it even better! Man, I still get the chills!
This scene is so epic the music too damn 2:11 always takes my breath away Scar really is an evil genius i mean he used his relation to Simba to manipulate him so easily
You mean one the greatest & realest scenes ever. Thats part of the *Movie Magic* & they teach lessons. some films. & one of them is that death is final, someday. for all living things, even the MightY Mufasa. who towered over the small mole. & played the Good King Role. ... Model. As he was once King of the Jungle. & once ruled pride rock. or as they say in Latin. Memento Mori.
The part of the theme when Mufasa slowly starts to climb up the cliff (to eventually to get thrown off to his death of course) after jumping out of the stampede is probably one of the most intense snippet of the theme and is a part that sticks out to me. This music makes the scene even more terrifying, so good job, Mr. Zimmer. You get a gold star. ⭐
0:46 Zazu: "Oh look, sire! The herd is on the move!" Mufasa: "Odd..." Scar: "Mufasa! Quick! Stampede in the gorge! Simba's down there!" Mufasa: " *SIMBA!*"
Though seemingly morbid, this has to be one of my favorite scenes in animation history. You're there, in the gorge, the thundering of thousands of hooves all around you, camera shaking, dust in your eyes. It's as if you're part of the action, or at least witnessing it firsthand. And the fantastic music only heightens the tension. This is the good stuff!
*Zazu:* "Oh, look, sire. The herd is on the move." *Mufasa:* "Odd...." *Scar:* "Mufasa! Quick! Stampede! In the gorge! Simba is down there!" *Mufasa:* "Simba!" ....Damn you, Scar....
props to the animators for Scar's subtlety here, too: he looks genuinely worried for Simba's safety, enough that if it hadn't been spelled out in no uncertain terms that this is a murder plot, it would have been a huge twist that Scar kills Mufasa
Man, I was JUST thinking about how wild it would be to think that Scar wasn't the mastermind behind the murder plot and working with the hyenas until after he killed Mufasa. The "Be Prepared" theme could have been used as a post-murder song where he was gathering his hyena troops to take command of Pride Rock and everything, and then the story could continue as normal.
Well ... the purpose of a good villain is to do bad things in order to affect the protagonist, but beyond of that, I consider him one of the best disney villains, because they(disney) made, that we hated the character, I consider that the writers made a GREAT JOB, isn´t it?
Finally hearing the complete thing makes it ever more amazing than it was in the film. The long live the king part just give you chills love this piece so much
Earlier while the playlist was going and I was drawing a huge roach came into view. I didn't bother to pause the playlist and being a scaredy cat I am I went to go tell my friend to get rid of it. We searched the room for a bit and when the roach finally started scurrying across the floor, this music began to play...
Scar: *LONG LIVE THE KING* Mufasa: *AHHHHHHHHH* *Simba finds mufasa's dead body a few moments later* Simba: *Dad wake up! Come on.. you gotta get up* *The Feels Kick In* Me: *CRIES IN A CORNER*
Now that I’m older, this scene disturbs me on another level. Specifically, the murder itself. By now, we’ve seen that Scar is a sadist and a coward, who won’t *personally* get his hands dirty if he doesn’t have to. You can see it when he stares down at his struggling brother: he would have happily just watched as he fell to his death. But then Scar gets a truly cruel flash of inspiration: give Mufasa a *brief* glimmer of hope by *pretending* to save him. Just to see the despair in his eyes, up close and personal. That’s why Mufasa’s final scream is especially haunting. He’s reached the *pinnacle* of despair! You can practically hear his last chain of thoughts: “My own brother betrayed me! I’m going to die! Oh dear god, he’s going after Simba next! I failed to save my son!” No wonder this is still considered one of Disney’s darkest moments.
The songs from The Lion King were very hit-or-miss for me. The score for this film, on the other hand? PERFECTION. Chills EVERYWHERE. I would love to hear this live.
I heard a lot from the movie during this music. Most pronounced was the final score. Mufasa pleading for Scar's help, only to have his brother claw his paws and declare, "long...live...the king," And as he screams his final roar, Simba is heard in the distance, "NNNNOOOOO!"
2:43 Mufasa: scar! Brother, help me! Scar looks down at mufasa Claws mufasa’s gnaws Mufasa: ROAR! Scar: long live the king! Lets of mufasa’s gnaws Mufasa: aaaaaahhhh!!! Simba: noooooooooo!
This movie still gives me chills. It has so much power and emotion in every scene, it still brings tears to my eyes when Mufasa dies. This was amazing to see in 3D, and I very strongly suggest that anyone who hasn't gone to see it, go see it when you get the chance.
I remember listening to the sdtrk. as a kid on cassette tape (this was one of the songs I listened to most often! Still a Zimmer fan after all these years).
Fans. You've forgotten The Lion King. You've forgotten who you are and so forgotten The Lion King. Look inside your comments, fans. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the circle of Internet. Remember who you are. You are Lion King fans and appreciate the one true Disney. Remember who you are. Remember. Really though arguing religion on a RU-vid video of The Lion King? Come on guys we all know who the one true God is. His name is Hans Zimmer. Duh.
i remember seeing this movie when i was about 6, i loved it and even burst into tears when mufasa died, i think it was because simba was crying and the music that was with it. I ended up getting the TLK CD. I still have it after all these years but when i listen to these scores the sound it gives me goosebumps, and i cant help but love the music. Its hard to explain, it makes me remember the movie scenes when listening to it. I would love if they brought this out on CD i would love to buy it XD
I really love the fact that although there were 3 composers on Lion King, they all blend together seamlessly, and in fact, you can here the same theme here where Scar kills Mufasa as during be prepared.
Ever since I saw this film when it was first released, I always wanted to own this piece of music, it took my breath away and made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck; still does
I 'm 19 now, but I still love this movie so madly. Mufasas death was one of the most touching scenes I've ever seen in a movie. Everytime I see it again, I have to try not to cry. The moment, when Simba sees his dad falling down, you have to look into his eyes. Gives me shivers every time. And I love Scar, especially his german voice. When he whispers "Run, Simba, run, and never come back" is sooo amazing! *O* Best movie ever.
I LOVE how suspenseful and dramatic the music in this score at 1:55. It's just AMAZING! It really helps you connect to how intense or terrifying a tragic situation is for the character that's endeavoring it. I think THAT was what made Lion King 2 not as amazing as the first: the music. Through out the whole movie of TLK 2, they kept re-using the same action BGM for the drama scenes so much that we completely lost the feeling that the writers were trying to emphasize.
The part that always hurt me the most was the look of desperation mufasa had in his eyes when Simba is locked from his mouth. That and the pitiful "help!" Simba cries out. Even today that's what makes me break.
2:44-3:11 Mufasa: "Scar! Brother! Help me!" [Scar plants his claws in Mufasa's paws, as the latter roars in pain.] Scar: "Long live the king!" [Scar throws Mufasa to his death in the stampede below.] Mufasa: "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!" Simba: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"
I don't think this scene would have been as big as it was had it not been for this music. Especially how intense it gets towards the end like right when you think Mufasa's gonna survive and then Scar just throws him off the cliff and kills him.
This song always gets me panicy like I KNOW the exact moments Simba is running, Mufasa looks for him, finds him, gets hit then jumps on the side..only to get thrown by his brother. Its so scary!!!! But I love it. So emotional
Long ago, I was surfing the internet for music when I came across a random blog dedicated to bootleg scores and it happened to have The Lion King Recording Sessions. Like my description says they were all off pitch and stuff so I "fixed" it and put it up for everyone to have. Unfortunately the computer I downloaded it on died a long time ago so I lost the original files and all their glory :(
This is another segment that is constantly toned down on soundtracks or wherever it is uploaded, so I am glad to here the whole thing with this video. The beginning is very sinister and then cuts to the whole chase that leads to Mufasa having to rescue Simba...and then to his tragic death where his treacherous brother murders him. :(
when i was growing i completely let the lion king slip away from my mind except for the begining of zimmers "This Land" and 1:55 to 2:08 of this song. one day i was looking through old movies and i found the lion king i wathced it and i herd the music and was like so thats where those two songs were from. what im trying to say is that no matter how many times you forget the source of music it will always have a lasting impact. ps i hate myself for forgetting this movie
Where in the heck did you get this particular version of the soundtrack from? Especially this uncut version of “To Die For”? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I know it's available on the Legacy Collection album, but it sounds different on that version. It's mixed differently, and I don't like it. This one is mixed like it is in the film itself. Where did you find it?
I was about 10 years old, when we watched Lionking with the school at the cinema in 1994 i guess. When Mufasa dies, the *whole crowd of 7-10y old children cried* . I have small fragments of memories.. but as I remembered, the teachers could not cheer them, they cried so hard.
