Nice work! I have a late 2010 LCD-2.1 in rosewood with some 2017'ish new fatter leather pads from Audeze. Love 'em. They still have the grey foam headband and all. Compared to my Clears they are a notch above in pure enjoyment, esp in rock music etc with strong mids. Just a punchy, smooth & relaxing listen after a hard days work. In resolution they are not quite at Clear levels, but not at all shabby. Audeze nailed it from the start, this pair is going nowhere. Cheers!
I just purchased a brand new LCD-2. I am also using the Audeze Deckard as my go to amp. I think the pair together sound wonderful. Have you ever tried using high end headphone cables with any of your headphones? I do, and feel I can hear subtle differences for the better. Good, honest review. Well done.
I’ve never tried high dollar cables. I don’t doubt that there could be a subtle difference, but I also feel there is probably little “bang for buck” to be had there. I’m sure there’s some snake oil out there as well.
The 2021 Fazor come with the new pads which are thinner. 54304xx onwards is what I am lead to believe. The new ones have gone back to Rosewood with a lacquer finish and look stunning (I had a Rosewood Rev 2.2 years ago but sold it for LCD-X). Both the PF and Fazor are very amp dependent. The PF sounded way too rolled off with a V200. I am pairing the Fazor with a WA6SE and it’s very very good. I would put the Fazor as to having the good bits of both the X and the PF 2.2.
I suggest testing the LCD 2F with a EQ of +3db to +4db in the 90Hz region and +3db in the 1KHz-4KHz region. I heard it at the headphone show and after a few weeks of testing it was clear to me that especially the 2-3KHz region needed around 3 extra dB to make the headphone open up. After using it that way for a while, when turning the EQ off, it almost reminded me of the veil I heard on the HD650 (thou much less in your face type of veil).
If you email Audeze and give them the serial number, they can tell you that information, or you may be able to just google the serial number and find out.
If you ever want to review cables. I have the Cuprum Model I could send you. But I reccomend buying the 4 X 18 AWG Magnus Model, because it is has 3X the metal at 50$ more, but they both sound like creamy butter, It's just that Magnus is roughly 15% bigger image/stage size and slightly more holographic, meaning sounds seem to have texture & shape and seem to move through a 3D space. This will bump your LCD-2F's into the next price category. www.arcticcables.com/magnus
I personally really like Hart Audio Cables for the convenience, but I'm not really in the expensive cables for better sound camp... Perhaps I could be convinced. I'm not interested in trying those cables out right now (busy), but I may contact you before the summer is out if you are serious about sending them my way. Thanks for your input. Cheers.
