Folks actually pay for Duracoat paint and do this with it? I understand the Distressed trend is popular. If I did. I would do a base coat and make sure I had 100% coverage. Then use a cheaper paint for the Distressed look. The base of Duracoat will offer the protection Duracoat is known for. Just my input and opinion on how I would approach it.. keep up the great work.

I get this on repros of genuine antique or vintage guns, or if you buy a vintage gun that has been refinished and you want the distressed original look back on it, but if spend like 1500$ on a nice AR, making it look old is kinda silly, but I get it, old worn in tools are more attractive then a brand new tool, more comfortable to use effectively, there is a mental aspect to breaking the new car smell on things, but if you have a flat duracoat and let it distress with use you have a real look to your gun and you know how it got there, it makes it yours that much more.

+Reviews of Stuff The To Hell and Back Distressing Kit is convenient because not only is the Mission Specific Removable Camouflage Coating that is included in the kit easy to distress and create the look you want, but it is also compatible with our DuraCoat. This means that when you are finished distressing the coating, you then have the option of applying a DuraCoat Clear top coat to make the look permanent and durable.

Adam Fitzer The To Hell and Back Distressing Kit is available in two different two-color options, but we can substitute any other colors from our Mission Specific Removable Camo line. That line consists of 11 colors, one of which is White. All of the available colors in that line can be found on our website here (under the "Select Color" drop-down menu): www.lauerweaponry.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=903. If ordering online, write the colors you'd like substituted in the comments section during checkout. If ordering over the phone, simply tell the representative taking your order which colors you'd like in the kit.

I agree 100% with Shwell 11 . Anyone wants your rig to look like this, give it to me for a few days. Or just drag it behind your truck on a crappie road for 1 mile , job done .It's just looks to be a teenage boy thing, But to each his own.
@royrogers3624
@royrogers3624 4 года назад
Capt. Gus RH except wearing legitimate finish in as realistic manner through normal use can take a very long time or a long time with heavy use as for the truck idea thats moronic you can damage the rifle badly and the end result would look nothing like actual wear it would just look like you dragged the rifle over gravel Did you even think about what you were saying?

Wouldn't the paint get into the rifle and ruin it?

The coating process shown in this video is specifically for creating a distressed, battleworn look using our To Hell and Back Distressing Kit. Spraying a rifle using this method would not result in the coating being applied to the internal moving parts of the firearm. Be aware that you should never coat inside of the barrel. Also, you should never intentionally spray the internal areas of a firearm using this type of spray technique and process. When applying our DuraCoat product (which is different from our To Hell and Back Distressing Kit products) using the DuraCoat surface preparation steps and application technique, the internal parts of a firearm can be cleaned and coated for best results. (However, the inside of the barrel and the bolt face [the surface of the bolt that meets the back of the cartridge] should never be coated.)

Duane Bierman you understand the finish is made to last right? You would have to use it heavily every day for atleast a year to wear actual finish down that much likely longer than that honestly

@AndrewFord90
@AndrewFord90 5 лет назад
Xstreamaudio I mean that’s a pretty ignorant thing to suggest. I’m sure a lot of people use their rifles. I mean a light dusting of spray paint and even a few days at the range and your rifle is going to start showing wear. Rifles these days have become way less about being a tool and more about looking tacticacool... This seems time consuming for something that should cost no more than a rattle can or two, and a two or three days at a range.

Interesting product, it would be fun to do a project with. As far as the video itself, I appreciate that you do a good job showing what to do. However, it is very unnecessary to fill the gaps between dialog with loud, screaming stock rock music. The hallmark of really bad RU-vid firearms channels is the use of loud, pounding "Hell, yeah!" type soundtracking. It sounds like something a 16 year old would come up with during study hall, all the while thinking "This is so cool, man!" No, it's not. But aside from the incredibly annoying music, it's a very good instructional video. And again, I'd like to find a cheap AR to do a project with, using your product. Thanks for the video.
@mediacominternet
@mediacominternet 5 лет назад
Yep. The music really brings down what is otherwise a decent quality video. I understand they have to use non-copyright music, but I wish they would use something other than the faux heavy rock guitar. It is definitely the signature of low quality gun channels

I can see someone doing this for maybe a movie or a vintage era display but not for a everyday duty, or defensive weapon. There is something that feels its "just not right", or dishonest, to "artificially" distress a relatively new weapon. I am all for DuraCoating and just using till worn out, through everyday use. Any experience firearms owner can spot the difference.
@ctdoriet
@ctdoriet 6 лет назад
Yeah, on a firearm that is heavily used, the most wear is going to be on certain contact that is hard to duplicate except from actual use. I suppose you could look at photos of actual rifles that are battle worn and come close.
