Even if Putin is an aggressor, I still applaud him for trying to protect his Motherland's national security. Ukraine is a literal highway to Russia's heartland if NATO does invade, and strategic areas cannot be given to the enemy.

The UN disagrees, the Chinese haven’t claimed that, and other pro Russian states like Venezuela haven’t said that. Sure, the Russian language should have more official status in Donbas but besides that, there is nowhere near enough criteria to constitute a genocide. Also, why would any nuclear power like NATO invade Russia? That would start a nuclear war, something neither side is interested in.

NATO is a defensive alliance and Eastern European states should have the option to join if they desire.
