Garry Moore was a brilliant communicator and a genuinely nice man, two qualities in shorter and shorter supply in broadcasting generally. How wonderful to see him exit on his own terms.

Garry Moore was a legend in his own time!

Gary Moore lived another 15 years dying in 1993 at the age of 78.

Yes. Bill was 70 when he passed away while Garry was 79. Sad that neither is no longer with us. In fact the only person of the five who still is with us is Joe Garagiola who is 86 now. Kitty did live to be almost 97 though which is quite an achievement.

Garry Moore was my favorite gameshow host. Loved his humor!

Even though I'm 61, I only learned about the great Garry Moore this last year. He really was a presence on television.

Classy set of people on this episode. Impossible to find today.

Gary Moore was the best at doing this show and plus he started Carol Burnett out.

Gary Moore was the host of the syndicated "To Tell the Truth" from 1969 until 1975. Joe Gardriola took over the following Monday and continued in syndication until 1980 or 1981. Gary started as a host of "I've Got A Secret" before he came to this show.

RU-vid is a real gem. I was an avid viewer of To Tell the Truth and The Garry Moore and never found out until now why he disappeared from the airwaves. Thanks RU-vid!

i taped this episode when it aired on GSN a few years back,along with 2 episodes from 1967 which were guest hosted by Mark Goodson himself. truly nostalgic,especially since GSN probably won't ever show them again unfortunately. i also have an episode from 1968,also taped off GSN that was guest hosyed bt the late Bert Convy,another true lost traesure.

Garry Moore always seemed like a very nice gentleman.

The final episode of "What's My Line" was taped in December of 1974 and didn't air until the spring of 1975. They had no idea they would be canceled at the time of the final taping.

It was a great gameshow. Ought to be returned.

Garry's version of "TTTT" is my favorite of all of them, even better than Bud Collyer's since Garry really seemed to be interested in the guests. I think Robin Ward's version flopped because it came too soon after Garry/Joe's ended and the comparisons were inevitable. As for Bill Cullen, he might have become the new host, but Gil Fates, in his book about "What's My LIne?," said that "Bill's superlative gamesmanship was missed on the panel." Somehow I suspect the real reason is implied below: Bob Stewart wouldn't let him host a second syndicated show ("$25,000 Pyramid"). Garry was as comfortable as an old shoe and almost irreplaceable; tell me, do you think Steve Allen did a better job as host of "I've Got A Secret"? In this meaner, more cynical age, there doesn't seem to be room for his type. More's the pity.

I agree no need to demean Joe Garagiola. He was always a professional announcer and one of the best baseball broadcasters of all time. But, Garry Moore was a wonderful performer. So professional, humerous, humble, a true gentlemen. A great host of To Tell the Truth. Also, must acknowledge dry humor and wit of the Great Bill Cullen.

Emphysema....what a horrible way to go. Same with Johnny Carson. Way to go Winston et al.

I think that if you have to go then this is the best way to do it and even announcing your replacement that’s the way to go

Todd Newton should have gotten "The Price Is Right" when Bob Barker retired. Todd has spent the last few years traveling the country doing the TPIR.

the camera operators should have been on the credits without them its a radio show

This was a classy exit but horribly sad. Did you notice that Gary wasn’t ipresent at the end when the contestants and the girls came out? I would assume it just was too emotional..

Well, I wonder if the big problem with Bill hosting was the fact he was already hosting another syndicated game show, namely "The $25,000 Pyramid". Given it was a Bob Stewart show, I doubt Bill could contractually do it. Someone needs to help me with that.

Actually the story Bill Cullen told was that he was offered the job first, but preferred to stay on the panel. He thought he could be funnier as a panelist.

I’d forgotten all about Joe Garagiola hosting TTTT. But by then, I was exiting my early - mid teens and my game show years, transitioning to University as well as ignoble pursuits away from the TV.

For an older woman I think Kitty Carlisle was hot

I've been enjoying, "iGAS" shows I was too young, to have viewed.(sending Mr. Moore, to "Birdland"-in an interesting manner was great fun!)I loved the '60s four Ts. Finally, I loved the '60s theme! R.I.P., Garry(with two "r"s)and, Bill and, all.

Neither Gary Moore nor Joe Garagiola could hit a good curve ball. But Joe did earn a World Series ring.

Cigarettes did him in. Him and a lot of others in that era.

You can tell that Poor Gary's voice is raspy..he was suffering from cancer...hence he had to leave the show.

@johnissoevil I believe Garry Moore didn't mention cancer because one of his prior TV shows may have been sponsored by a cigarette company. Loved the sense of humor he displayed in this segment.

I think Robin Ward and Lynn Swann would be worse on the totem pole than O'Hurley.

To ME, Garry Moore was THE host of TTTT - not that sphegetti-bender that replaced him. He was AWFUL between TTTT and hosting sporting games, I disliked everything about him.
