Nova is a beast, on both sides of the lens. This is Nova’s tribute to her family. Just 2 days after recording the song, Nova got a call that her grandmother, who had Parkinson’s, had died of a heart attack. Just a week after grandma’s death, they made this video. The emotional pain is real and easily felt. She made this video before the rona shutdown, sitting on it for over a year. I’m so glad she finally released it. #hangovergang for Nova 🤘🏻🤘🏿🤘🏼🤘🏽

The best part about this rabbit hole, within all the twists and turns, is the conversations that get brought up. It's therapeutic. Knowing you're not the only one dealing with certain things, and finding the family that understands. We all travel different paths, but far too many of us deal with the same ish. Wow! Every time I hear this song I also think of my mom. What’s crazy is she was also born on July 4th and passed away almost 4 years ago. She had an abusive life also and tried her best to give me the best life possible. She succeeded in that even though she refused to believe it. This song hits me every time I hear it. I just wish I told her more before she passed how I know she did her best. ♥️

I never noticed Tom in the chorus, but it makes sense. Nova is in a lot of his choruses too. Glad you liked Nova. She's amazingly talented and has a story with the music industry. She talks about it in Hey You.

Little late, but thank you for this. Nova is an absolute beast! She was signed to Def Jam records in the early 2000s. They did her absolutely dirty. Ruined her idea of what music was. I think Tom sees how she was done and made it a point to stay independent. Look up “Hey You” by Nova. That’s her middle finger to the record industry. Replace “hey” with “f**k” and you get the idea. Tom also has a great song called “Cancer” that I really think would resonate with you.

Starting off with a heavy Nova song. Loved the reaction. The entire Scared of Heights album is amazing.

When you do get to Nova's "Hey You" song/video, I would like you to have some context. Nova used to be signed to a record label: Def Jam. The were grooming her to be the next Britney Spears. Nova did not want that. Def Jam dropped her with out telling her. Nova found out when she got evicted because Def Jam was no longer paying the rent. So in the song "Hey You", Hey you refers to Def Jam.

My parents health was bad, mom had cancer (more then one) dad was doing all he could for her and my brother lived with them as he helped them financially and property upkeep. But the roles switched when he got cancer. He fought it and was winning with the VA help but his heart gave up. He was 56. Mom and dad still at home and together in their 90's and they still face the same challenges. This song expresses so much for anyone that as they get older will know. Nova did a masterful job translating this emotion to words.

Hello, Thank you for all your Tom and Nova's video reactions. You are an amazing person! My grandmother's birthday was on July 4th also but she passed now. If "Fake Woke" "Brainwashed" "Sheeple" "Dirty money" songs are not yet on your list to listen to they should be. Dirty money is Tom's latest song.

This "Family" is such an amazing group of people, you will find even though we come from all walks of life, we find common ground thru Tom and Nova's music. As you grow up it is typical to realize the way your parents failed you. The hard part is acknowledging how they tried and understanding that they are human as well. Are their parents out there that don't try, or just don't care? Yes. But the majority try the best they can and hope that their children understand that that's all they can do

I still have difficulty understanding who's who and the order of things that happened. I recommend an OLD song by Tom and Nova about how they helped each other with their struggles with mental health issues and addictions. They formed a band called GFBF (girlfriend boyfriend) and one of the most beautiful songs of all is GFBF's "I'm Not Well."

Hi. I just wanted to mention something I recently learned about uploading videos to RU-vid that you may be interested in: I've noticed your videos tend to be a bit low in volume. So low it's sometimes difficult to hear even after raising volume on my side. I thought I'd mention the following which can help you find the right volume for your videos you upload. Are you aware of RU-vids "Stats For Nerds" display? It shows details about your video that was uploaded. Just Right-Click on the playing video and select "Stats For Nerds". In the middle is the (Volume/Normalized) section and to the right will be the dB (decibel) levels that needed to be adjusted by RU-vid. For this video it's showing me -19.6 dB. This means RU-vid had to increase the volume of your video almost 20 dB to get to it's current volume. In a perfect situation your uploaded video should be as close to 0 db without going over into positive numbers. It's a good volume level to shoot for but even if your video ends up displaying -4 dB it will be much louder making it easier for people to listen to on RU-vid. Have a great day!

I'm not sure if the "voice" in the chorus is Tom. It sounds like it might be Nova, autotuned.

It's unfortunate you didn't go back far enough and somehow you missed the line about the grandpa dying in a crash and yeah the guy in the background had gray hair but it wasn't him and technically I'm pretty sure that that scene at the end was real novice grandmother did pass while she was filming the song I think she was making the song for her family and so when she's all in black they were pretty much really grieving not fake grieving these weren't all acting but I don't think there's many times I have listened to this song full song without stopping without crying. I guess it also depends on how many people you've lost and helped walk over the to other side I've seen death quite a few times in my life and I'm only in my late 40s. I wasn't there for Mary's death but the night before Mary's death I was there and she did wake back up for a bit about a half an hour and talk to me and I'm not religious per se but I know there is another side and that's what seemed to be going on is that she was with some people from the other side but she was also here on Earth still she directly looked at me and said this is the last time Mary had advanced stage dementia but whenever she looked straight at me and talk to me she was clear she was Mary again but she was also slipping in between worlds so she didn't directly focus the whole time but I could make out that she was fishing with her Grandpa and they were spoiling her😂 I let her know she deserve to be spoiled and like I said although I'm not religious like most people I'm glad that she went where she wanted to go which is how I believe I think we put ourselves in hell if we go to hell I'm not to me it's just logic because the Creator created all of us we have a piece of the Creator and all of us which means that all of us need to go back to the Creator to return that piece so that the Creator can have that knowledge but unlike most religious things I believe that the Creator gave us Spirit to give us life the soul is created during the lifetime and the soul becomes similar to the spirit in the way that when we pass on I believe we can learn to create a new we still have knowledge to gain and it's just real weird I don't believe that whole line about humans are the only ones with consciousness or any of that BS I do not believe that the universal language is math I think it's music but that's just me I would think if we associate our creator as a parent as a parent don't you want your kids to do better than you? I know I do for my little girl and if that's the case also if Creator was the only Creator how lonely is that? Even if you are just energy that always gets me it's just energy yeah it's just the thing that gives us life yeah no big deal😂😂😂. Anywho I guess it didn't quite hit you as hard as it hit most of us.

I totally know where you're coming from as far as worrying about the kids taking care of you I have a set of rare gene mutations that have caused me to have several blood clots over my life 2 of my 4 children refuse to move more that 2 hours from me but it took me years to convince my oldest child who happens to be male that he deserves a life a wife and children in fine with him living close but I had to almost push him out of the house like I said it took years to convince him that I would be ok

I don't think a few dog barks in the background are really going to bother us all that much but I get it I'm sorry for the passing of your mother I lost mine over 10 years ago to COPD/bronchitis/old age and I wasn't in town where she isn't when she passed but I did go to see her before she did pass so she was very similar only I know she was pretty negative and she was born in the 30s and raised much stricter I'm a Gen X born to the silent generation and yeah we were not only latchkey but abused and at the later years Mom got together with a different guy after dad died that was going to sexually abuse us after too much longer but we ended up getting out I got myself into trouble and landed in juvie and my sister just basically moved out and we were the youngest last of the children so there was no war to be threatened by him. In that aspect mom was a brick wall she refused to see the things that we're going on she knew they were but she refused to admit it. But like your mother sheets at the best with what she had she had some serious mental issues I'm sure of it because I do I'm bipolar one with schizoaffective disorder and I was born that way in fact my first diagnosis was at 13 only it was an incorrect dial diagnosis which is why when my daughter has shown signs I've already said no not till after puberty then you can do all your diagnosis and play lab if that's necessary which it was for me that she did do the best she could like yours and that's all we can ask for him actually very grateful for the life I grew up in I now wouldn't change anything even though everybody always has regrets I don't truly regret the experiences I feel bad about choices I made but if those choices have not been made I would not be who I am and where I am today.we have to learn that life is a balance that we have to learn to adapt to we can't just be all good and we can't just be all bad Justice isn't like that and neither is the universe in fact I don't believe the universe he's good and bad at all just dark and light because you know yin and yang. Anyway don't worry so much about perfection see you next time❤
