Oh I adore this so much, I relate to it so well. And the thing about silence not being awkward - yes! Yes! Yes! Oh adore your videos so much. They manage to show what I'm feeling when I can't create so it's refreshing to see. It's strange. Seeing someone you don't know sync so well to you without knowing who you are, makes the universe feel just a touch smaller. ✨

+Johann Santos the key to this is called Blend Modes. There's quite a few of them in Premiere Pro and they all give the footage a different texture on the shot underneath of it. I don't recall the exact mode I used, but it was probably "screen". Then do some cropping to position the video in the right area. Done!

I use letterbox templates, so it's simply just a photo of two black bars that I overlay on the timeline. Looks amazing.

+Andreas Kryp it's tough to push the 80D's colors too far in post, so you want to try to get most if not all of it in camera. Really just experiment and see what works best for you. There's not really a secret. Try different focal length and apertures!

I didn't use cinestyle, but I've heard a lot about it recently. Doesn't it simply give you a flat image so you can grade more effectively in post? That's tough because they say get it all in camera - so where's the perfect line between the two?

Hey Ulrich, I'm really digging my sigma lens so far. Though, it did fall and hit the ground, so autofocus makes a noticeable clicking noise. I highly doubt a new lens would make the sound this one does. I'm hoping to get it fixed. I'm pleased other wise. The focus seems to work just fine.

Honestly though, its videos like this that confirm my belief that 4k is overhyped. Its not always about the details. The image quality is such a small part of a movie.

This. 4k looks gorgeous, but only if you know how to use it. I think most skip out on learning the rules: composition, framing, frame rates, movement, color, etc. - and think 4k will make everything better. It is a small part of the movie. I love that you said this.

causbury yeah, right now I'm using cynestlyne. it just give you a flat picture, so you can color grade even better. I'm a bit scared of ML.
