Desert Rose is a prime example of what I like to call the "80s/90s Girl Action Genre". Anime in the vain of something like Dirty Pair that features female main characters, sometimes over the top action scenes, and a bit of cheesecake here and there. Which unfortunately is a genre that is a bit lacking nowadays. Anyway, good review. And by the way, Irene is also my favorite.
'Girls with guns' is my favorite genre of anime. 'Dirty Pair', 'Gunsmith Cats', 'Black Lagoon,' and so on; ALL perfect in my eyes. I miss it as a big anime genre, BUT; at least we get it in manga form, which is nice. I do hope the genre comes back and gets some love! There are some shimmers of hope, such as 'Akiba Maid Wars,' which was GREAT. But thank you, that means a lot to hear! :D And yes, Irene is best girl!

Wow, that was hasher than I imagined it, considering what we talked, but can't say it's unfair. It's sad that as good as Area 88 is and deserves praise, the result of that is that if you say Shintani, everyone immediately thinks of Area 88 instead of this U,U
lol, yeah. I didn't dislike it, but I definitely had a fair few issues with it, even if I did enjoy my time with it. I've only ever played the 'Area 88' SNES game, but that was fun, and I DO own the series on VHS... So I should really give it a watch and review when able. That, and the 'Desert Rose' manga.
