saurabh sood on a practical note simply taking your statement only u talked about sabzi vendors rickshaw vala true indeed we don't have to pay them through debit card because we can use smaller notes like 100 to pay to them, let's again be real no sabzi vala gets 500 1000 rs notes on daily basis! The idea is of less cash economy not completely cashless If I wanna go out to buy sabzi I don't need cars 100 rs notes will do but when i go to retail stores n buy groceries I can pay through card or E wallets as simple as that, it is convenient as well as no chance for tax evaders as no cash.

The point of this interview is how this will effect INDIAN economy ?, how this will pan out in coming months ?, how one should be prepared ?. Excellent, eloquent, informative interview in a very clear and understanding pace by the one and only P Chidu. He is a man who talks with evidence. He may be right or wrong at least he does not stoop down to the level of BJP leaders way of talking in the interview which is just blaming the congress / media, yelling or talk over the interviewer, rhetorics, beating around the bush and not answering or explaining the point of view with confidence and evidence.
Sir Chidabaram,...Please read my comments. I live in Norway, and hardly use any cash except in some small migrant shops. Our economy is 90% cash Swedish economy is even better. Please do not misled the reporter. You should know better. ! I think you are biased. You feel like..you could have done it before. However I understand, India will have hard time being cash less. But Cashless means when you have majority of transactions are without cash. Any country having over 80-90% transactions cash less, must be considered cashless. USA is a backward country in this sense. ! Scandinavia is most advanced in that sense. Also check South Korea. They already have had mobile banking many years now.

How is my privacy compromised if I pay my bill digitally in a drug store?!? The credit receipt is not a prescription which will list out what medicines I'm taking. N the government is NOT forcing you to use card for peanuts n popcorn, when Mr. Modi said India should be a digital economy I think it is common sense that he must mean for transactions above Rs. 500.

Karan Thapar does every attempt to make P Chidambaram say that demonetization is failed policy though former is much balanced. As an interviewer your job is to stay neutral keeping aside your biases and let interviewee express their opinion. Its harder to change at older age but as interviewer he should strive to become better
Chidambaram made some valid points on cashless society but a counter question should have been "Why not debate this in parliament ?". What could and should have been a great session of debates between the government and opposition has been washed out again.This was a great opportunity for the parliament to reinstate its credibility and relevance in front of the country
