"To translanguage or not to translanguage?
How to and How not to"

As bilingualism has become a most important feature of education throughout the world, scholars have begun to question the traditional separation of languages that has been the hallmark of language education programs. As teachers have known, the use of the child's home language features can only accelerate the
development of multiple languaging use, of understandings and
knowledge, and of self-esteem. This presentation lends support
to the idea that translanguaging, that is, the use of the entire
linguistic repertoire of bilingual children, is an important practice
in educating children bilingually. Focusing on the practice of
translanguaging in classrooms, this presentation makes evident
the choices that teachers should be making to ensure that this
practice furthers bilingual children's language practices and
enhances understandings and knowledge-building. In so doing,
it also distinguishes between translanguaging as an important
pedagogical practice to educate bilingual children and random
language use.

It is better to bend rather than break, so it is good to be flexible in language education and hold a tolerant stance in terms of using all language in one’s linguistic repertoire. This also removes the power from the language and the nation states and gives it to the speaker. Rather than hierarchical order we have dynamic construct this way.
