Just picked one up for FL fishing. Excited to pair the 7’2 with a 3000 shimano.

Such a great video, thanks for this! Not only did I want to know about the rod itself, I also was curious about mediums vs medium light and fast vs mod fast. Really helpful information. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on the M/ML

Nailed it! As an avid travel angler (usually by airplane) this rod has served me great the last year. Being able to strap 2 of these on my carry on back pack and go with peace of mind that they aren't going to break has been great.

I really love the rods. I just wish the tubes had a more durable finish. Mine look like they've been through a war.

For throwing artificials here in Florida for Reds and Trout, would you recommend the 7 2 or the 6 8? Thanks

For casting distance, it’s hard to argue against the 7’2” and the medium heavy power for bull reds. For slot trout, I love my medium light 6’8”. If I had to choose one, I’d go with the 6’8”, but I could easily talk myself into the other one.

Great Video - thanks! Would you recommend the 6'8" or 7'2"? I'm heading to Belize to fish Permit and Bonefish with a bunch of fly fisherman. The recommendation is for 10-15 lb test, 1/16 oz to 1/4 oz jigs, 7' - 8' rods. I'd also use the rod for surf fishing on the Florida Gulf coast and in Mexico. Bonus: Bass fishing in Michigan (would definitely prefer the 6' 8" for that...)

Thanks! For Permit I’d definitely want the 7’2” MH. I think the medium would be great for bonefish if not using a fly rod. You will want the extra length for surf fishing as well. I understand wanting the shorter rod for bass but since I normally fish 7’ rods for everything, the extra 2” probably wouldn’t bother me that much. Obviously I couldn’t decide so I bought both!

@@KempOutside Thanks Kemp! Really appreciate the feedback! I wanted the 6'8" to be right (I prefer lighter gear), but both you and Toad recommended the 7' 2"!

@@BubbiePumpsIron there really aren’t many fish that fight harder than a permit. You’ll like the backbone of the 7’2”!

I've never used a stowaway rod before, what are some disadvantages with going with one of these vs a 1 piece? Do they come apart when you're fishing?

The most common thought is that a multi-piece rod will never be as sensitive as a one piece rod. There can also be a weak point where the connection is. My experience though is that a well made rod will overcome those issues. It just isn't practical to travel all the time with one piece rods. If you are casting really hard, it doesn't hurt to push the rod pieces back together every once in a while as they can come loose, but in reality I rarely have a problem with them coming apart while fishing.
