Very important correction regarding the claim that people lick Sonoran Desert toads: that would make someone extremely sick and could potentially be lethal. Milking the toads and smoking the dried secretion is how people use these creatures as an entheogen. The alkaloid is 5-MeO-DMT, and it is the most powerful psychedelic compound in known existence. Utterly mind blowing.
once again another beautiful vid Orry! it was nice so see some of the coolest desert amphibian species compiled into one vid. looks like arizona's been producing some awesome finds for you, great job. :)
I'm not much of a toad person, but its still great to see so many amazing creatures. You definetly know a lot and sure would be awesome to be there. Good luck luck on your other videos and tell me when you find that indigo snake. That personally is going to be something to admire.
Due to protecting and ensuring the safety of these animals, I cannot disclose any locations. I am sorry. The area is beautiful and not far from you though. Great snake hunting too. Thanks for watching
@@stormstrike1845 I have smoked it and agree with the numerous psychological studies who say it is like having a near death experience). If you fight the dying, it will be a difficult experience. I have heard that some people have PTSD afterwards. This is NOT something you do for recreational purposes. The fear of God had a whole new meaning but at the same time, there was an absolute knowing that I was inseparable from That and the love I felt for everything and everyone was one of the most deep and profound experiences of my life. It caused a permanent shifting the way I view the world. I think if the whole world did it, we would have world peace within a week.
Great video from you mate! When you think of Arizona, you don't think of amphibians but that Green toad can't be beat! Love this video and it was time for a second view. I really hope you make some more soon. I enjoyed the last round of videos you did! Keep on being Orry!
I enjoyed this toad video. Very good close up shots. I have a population in and around my koi ponds of many spade foot toads, and a few western toads, and Pacific tree frogs. The koi eat any attempts at reproduction in my ponds so I have made a few private pools where tad poles have a chance. I love their mating calls in the spring and early summer. God's work is all around us.
Q: I live near Quartzsite AZ, we've had a long extremely hot summer with only a trace of rain in 6 months. It's still hitting temps above 100° in mid Oct. Oddly we have a toad problem. It's not unusual to see toads and frogs when it rains. However we haven't had any rain, we drained the pool a month ago. I have one small bucket of water in our yard for my pets. I'm wondering what is attracting toads to my sidewalk???
Orry Martin ,. Can you tell me which one is making that sound around the 4:27 mark? I think I have one in my house & need to know if it is toxic to my dogs?
Hey everybody...I live in Phoenix AZ...I have a pretty large backyard and I'm trying to find a way to get toads into my backyard....I filled a kiddie pool with sand and gravel and filled it with water but I'm wondering what if anything else can I do....I can't find any videos on RU-vid as to how to do it....please help!
I really like the educational component of this video. You covered species I don't get to see in the East Coast. Side note: The background in the first part of the video is beautiful.
I have a rather small toad I found, it's pupils are found and it has these little black color spot on it's back get that remind me of seeds. It's green with dark spots and lines. I found it in Apache Junction Arizona, Pinal County, East Valley of Phoenix. I don't know anything about it but my son did it and is determined to make it his pet. I have a rather big tank for him but I also have three children and four dogs and have no idea if this thing is poisonous. I'm also feeding it cricket, which I'm not really sure if it's eating yet and I'm also going to be getting mealworms. I purchased the mealworms but I left it at the store so I have to go get more tomorrow. If you know anything that can help me figure out what this toad is will be greatly appreciated.
3:15 you shouldn’t lick the toad. The best way is to milk venom from their glands, let it dry, and then smoke it. You’ll get a powerful spiritual experience
This guys is a total babe...also if anyone in AZ wants to see these Colorado river toads we have them at the Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary if you take a tour :)
hey nice video. i was wondering if there was a white something toad?????? i have 2 toads and its monsoon season. THERE INVADING MY SCHOOL!!!!!!! btw im a kid i'm on my mom"s computer
Everyone says ego death. I think that’s a stupid term it means nothing and doesn’t describe the experience at all. Be original and describe the experience as you experience it. I heard it was not recommended, not enjoyable and a bad trip
@@stormstrike1845 OK, It was a ride that I relaxed into, like hitting light speed but on a spiral that was the beginning, then a voice with profound insight spoke through me to the group witnessing the ego of me witnessing a voice not quite my own, speaking truths and love, that we as a race are off track to to put it mildly. Excellent trip for me, the key I believe is surrendering, letting it take over, giving up control and trusting.... absolutely amazing
