They do care, they just don't care about if sydney was joking or not, they just want speech policed to not offend them because they feel relentlessly attacked. TLDR they selfeshly care about only things that bother them. THis is a common problem as i'm sure you could realize you can replace "Them" with literally any demographic ever because its just such a human problem.
It was very obvious that Sydney was just joking. If you watch Sydney even for a little while, you'd understand how nice of a person she is. I totally agreed with Toast's take in that stream. However, I do feel that the community is blowing Sydney's response out of proportion, and they need to stop.
Her joke was no different to Seanic bantering about "bring back the patriarchy" - the reddit brahs would probably unironically believe Sean and hail him as their god or something
Well said in part, but even in the stream Toast's position is a much more complicated one than he made it out to be in that short soundbite. There is quite a lot of blame shifting towards women on this particular issue, and I've yet to see convincing evidence that women are the problem driving the issue forward. Consider how easy it is to access young men/boys these days and bypass parents for example, and most importantly for profit. Now, consider that profit, who makes it, who benefits the most from destroying young boys'/men's self-esteem and making them believe the world is out to get them and they have no allies (apart from the party saying all this)? The problem is the grifters and opportunists who understand how much money they can make from all of this. And for them, making as much bollocks fake or rare to as many boys to see and trying to disinform them into detaching from the actual human physical reality and attaching to their online alternative reality is their biggest priority. That is what makes them money. Furthermore, even in the same stream the others joke about anything and everything, at least equally unhinged, and nobody cares. So... yeah, the double standards are well and truly alive.
reckful had a history of mental illness including past suicide attempts, and a suicide in the family, to the point his friends were camping out in his lounge to make sure he didn't do it at one point. he was also bipolar, had a history of drunk use. i doubt he even knew about any LSF comments towards him at the time.

That thread is a good example as to why Toast had to make sure to include the “I still support LGBT & women’s rights” at the end there because those are the type of people that sort of statement can attract, sadly.
Nice to see he agreed with my initial take on the subject. When streamers like that are having what is ideally a fun enjoyable stream, and because of what a chatter said he felt an earnest desire to see if he could help correct how people act online in what little way any one person is able to help, which came across as solemn and serious in the moment, the only real response the other streamer should be expected to make is one that brings the vibe back to comedic, which Syd did. It does not hit properly in the clip, but within the stream where they were bantering back and forth throughout, it fit in just fine. Too Long; Didn't Read? Syd is half tomboy, she of all streamers is not one worth going after.
I don't know much about Syd, but everything I've seen leads me to believe she is quite based overall. I mean, she literally wouldn't hang with Toast if she was the type of person people think she is. They wouldn't be friends to begin with and that's something people don't seem to realize.
A good way to look at this is - if the situation was flipped (toast saying jokingly "women are trash"), all of these people complaining about Sydney here would be coming to his rescue with "he wasn't serious" and would care not in the slightest bit about whatever Syd would have said about women's position in society before that. This reeks of people with very strong opinionated positions just jumping on an opportunity to justify their opinion wherever possible even if it the context makes no sense. Essentially, being Karens. This is not about young, impressionable boys/men. If it was, they'd be barking at the one tree that makes the most money out of preying on those boys/men: the grifters.
Perhaps ironically, this sort of affirms that these men complaining still don't treat women equally. She makes a joke, absolute horror. He makes a completely unhinged joke, it's just jokes man.
I have to disagree. If the situation would be flipped, Toast would also get complaints from these people. Just like how they tried to cancel Toast in the past. We both can agree there was nothing wrong with what Sydney said. But dont make this shallow claim that does not make sense beside an agenda.

Are there people out there at all who would complain? Sure, but these people aren't those people, and these people weren't those people trying to cancel him either (whenever, if that ever happened in reality, or was it just some people whining?) And that's the point. They would be saying the exact same thing to defend him making these jokes as the people who defend Sydney are saying here. They'd forgive him any joke on the basis of it being a joke. But because the joke's on them this time, they can't take it. They can dish it out but can't take it themselves.
@@oldmatttv Shallow means there's no depth, aka you have little to no evidence that supports your claim. You just made a hypothetical claim with nothing to support said claim. There's none, you're making an assumption based on an agenda. That's all there is to it. The fact you seriously think your argument is not shallow and even now with the response you failed to present any evidence. And yes, there was an attempt to cancel Toast in the past. A 3 sec youtube or google search will give you the answer you need.
@@michaelshahoe well, you're not wrong about evidence, but it's an ironic thing to point at when your position is equally shallow, there's no difference whatsoever between your position and mine, so we can do this pretend game of burden of proof and rigidity, but it's just dishonest so why not just drop the holier than thou act instead? We are basing thoughts and opinions on common human behaviour and posted material. In my experience, it's very obvious what these people are doing, and come on now... if it was a reasonable position and reaction they have, then it would make sense to think otherwise, but it's clearly just opportunism. Regardless, as you say, neither of us have evidence so I guess we'll never know :) Cancelling and cancelling attempts are used very loosely these days, with very few occasions where there is any serious weight behind it, yet certain people like to go on about it. There is very little difference between whinging, making shite up, just abusing report mechanisms and whatnot, and what people like you call an "attempt to cancel". They are basically the same. What happened? Nothing.

@@Momo-io9em a couple months ago (actually maybe last year not sure) jodi and scarra made a race joke about how one of the other people looks like syd in the dark (joke being because its dark/night time they are now the same complexion as syd) and this doughnut is comparing the situation to that.
Anyone can have their opinion just don't bitch and moan when you get backlash... Especially when she threw her own friends under the bus for a "racist" joke despite being in friendly relationship with each other and no discrimination or inequal treatment besides that...and I think most of them are LOL players so they make all types of jokes to each other... That being said, you really can't get canceled once you are big enough you just coast with Patreon and good content and you can ride out the wave of backlash and say "I apologize and changed without putting any effort at all"
