Tobias seems to be such a reserved private person. You can tell he carefully thinks what he's going to say before he speaks. He probably has very few really close friends but those he does allow beyond the armor are pals for life. Excellent master of his craft. Never settles for 2nd best from himself. And what versatility! In one of his early movies (Forget me Not) he sang and played guitar. He should find parts that allow him to demonstrate that skill more often. He sang a hilarious song called "Naughty Nun". But he thinks he's not funny. I laughed my ass off. Tobias, in that movie you showed your full range of talent from comedic to tear jerking tragic. It was awesome. I was laughing and crying at the same time.
As for GOT as Edmure Tully, he was supposed to be that way. The irony is that Edmure survives while the other Starks and importantly the Tullys fall. But the screw up is still standing at the end.
As always, Tobias gives us a nuanced look into how he plays his characters. I love what he said about playing Black Jack Randall. In all honesty the show is empty without him. It was BJR's menace that made Jamie's character heroism stand out. While Sam is undoubtedly the star of the show (don't care, that's how I feel), Tobias and Sam were the draw to me. I've kept watching because I love the actors in the show, but Tobias as BJR is sorely missed. Thank you Tobias for again giving us inroads into BJR once more. I just adore your ability to make whatever character you play so honest and visceral. Thank you Gold Derby for another amazing interview.
