Hey Tobi, I’m watching this during the lockdown in 2020 and I have to tell you that you are still the helpful and supportive person as you always have been. Thanks for all your hard work you put out on RU-vid 🙌
Fantastic video Tobi! Have to agree with every point you made regards everything pre university. I didn't go down the uni route because of the health set backs i've encountered but if i do take a uni course at some point, it's good to take that kind of solid advice with you. Hopefully some of the younger guys here will really take what you've said on board and carve out opportunities for themselves =) You get out what you put in =) x
I watched this vid 6 years ago when I was 11-12 now I’m back at 18, 1 day before results days 😂 time actually flies man hopefully RU-vid takes off while I finish my degree at uni like Tobi.
Hey Tobi, I remember when this video came out half a year ago, and this basically summed up my education in a nutshell, (maybe not getting As) and I also thought that I haven't been putting any effort into my A Levels, so I watched this and thought, "this guy has inspired me to do better, so I'm gonna do it". So I've put in so much in my a levels and I feel like I've done well, and really I just wanna say thank you Tobi for inspiring me to do better cheers mate :)
I was literally the same. I took my GCSE's 3 years ago, and came out with 5 A's, 4 B'S and a C, when I could have done so much better. At AS Level I messed around, and got 3 C's and an E. Salvaged it back to BBC for A Level, and am now doing Sociology at uni. My advice to younger people would be to put as much effort as you can in now, as the rewards are great in later life.
Seb Francis Of course you know all the details of my life, and I DEFINITELY flunked as you say. My advice is to keep your pointless comments to yourself, you idiot.
+TBJZL I've only just seen this and it's *so helpful and encouraging* being able to watch this since I'm going to University this September. I find it inspiring that you still managed to balance education and your RU-vid life. I also know how you feel about being disappointed in GCSE's despite getting good grades knowing in yourself that you could've done better especially the part about your *AS levels*. It's nice to see that one of my *inspirations* also went through a similar phase as me. Wish I'd seen this earlier ngl. Really glad I saw this video. *Thank you!*
tobi i really can't tell you how much you inspire me in life; not only in wanting to be a youtuber, but also in videos such as this, and I'm a huge fan.
Great video man. I'm in the same boat as you in that I kinda breezed through lower school, came out with decent GCSEs but then screwed up my A-Levels. I'm in my first year at uni doing History and am concerned about getting a job after as I'm at a pretty average uni doing a course which leaves a lot of doors open but nothing specific. Definitely going to try and make friends with some 3rd years now, thanks for the advice!
Tobi I just wanted to say thanks for that vid I'm just coming to my end of year seven now and I've really messed up I was doing really well In my primary and since secondary I just wanted to get popular and I've been misbehaving getting isolation detentions and stuff and I've lost grades since SATS and since watching this I'm going to try really hard to do well in my education no matter what my mates think thanks man 😄
I'm in Middle School taking Web Design courses, and I think of myself as building up my education before. This video really gave me a lot of inspiration. Thanks to you, I have now developed a schedule: Take AP courses in high school so I can take a third major in university. I'm going to take Law as a major, English Literature and Computing as minors.
This is actually a pretty inspiring video to me, after just watching this video surely my entire perspective of my last year of high school should change, i'm in my last year now and this video has definitely started to push me to do better, thank you Tobi for sharing and I have watched your other videos and I have definitely subscribed! Thanks :D
This video is so helpful man. Got 8A*'s and 2A's with a C in Further Maths, all from a state school. Your words have convinced me to continue working hard at my A-Levels. Thanks for that.
well your doing a great job, i remember it wasnt even that long ago when you were saying thank you for 3k subs and now your on 53k on this channel and 77k on the other thats amazing!
Thanks a lot Toby! This has given me great advice for what I want to do in the future! I'm currently in yr9 at school so I choose my options at the end of the year, this video will definitely help me so thanks a lot!
I honestly think good on you for choosing computing as your course because you can see that the world is going forward in technology, I'm thinking similar and hoping to do sound engineering (or some form of engineering) with German as a language as a side course for basically the same reason as you chose computing... and I'm going to do German because Germany leads the way in engineering as most big engineering firms are German, so it would be useful to know a lot more German... What are your thoughts on my first choice? :p Also, have you done bioinformatics / informatics in your computing course? If not, try and look in to jobs concerning informatics alas they may accept people whom have done computing courses, but I'm not sure... Informatics is a good area for work as it's well paid and it's a growing area, hope I've helped you :p
Tobi that was some really useful advice about choosing subjects for GCSE's that I like, last week I chose my options for my gcse's and now you're helped me reconsider my choices
it was really cool hearing about your education and school life and i think it has really opened my eyes and motivated me to keep going to get to here i want to be, thanks man!
