I wanna tell a story about Toby that means a hell of a lot to me. In 2003 I was deployed to Afghanistan with the 45th Infantry Brigade. We had been there a few months and then we found out Toby and Ted Nugent were gonna be at our base to just do a meet and greet and then go do a show at Bagram. When Toby got off the bird he saw the Thunderbird on our shoulders and knew we were his fellow Okies. We had guys that were musicians and had their families send over their guitars and amps. Toby decided that he was gonna do a show for his fellow Okies. They pulled a flatbed truck to center of the base and he and Ted stood up there and brought some light into a very stressful situation. Then after they played deep into the night they signed autographs for every single person who wanted one and didn’t gripe about it once. They stayed overnight and then went back to Bagram the next day. It meant a whole hell of a lot to me and my brothers. It was a little taste of home. Thank you Toby and Uncle Ted for giving me some time.
There will never be another Toby Keith…. I will never forget seeing him in concert and as finishing his song he had the ENTIRE audience YELLING USA USA.. The love of country resonated throughout that stadium as Toby had a huge smile of pride on his face… Loved him before that -loved him even more- and will love him and his songs forever… Yup Toby - I should have been a “cowgirl” and I am a cowgirl just watching you on video and remembering that very special night!!! Sing with the angels Toby- you are so very LOVED!!
My youngest son had two bouts with cancer and received care at OU Children's hospital. Bob Stoops visited those kids on the oncology floor every Thursday regardless of his schedule. Toby sponsored Allie's House at the hospital for families to stay while their children were receiving care and who had to travel a great distance for the care. Both of these men are generous beyond measure. I will never forget Bob's kindness towards the kids, or the kindness of Sam Bradford, Jermaine Gresham, and Brody Eldridge.
Toby you were my first county love. I spent a lot of money for tickets. My first concert I bought 4 tickets for in Chicago. 150.00 for tickets. But my favorite.. is I bought ticket to be front and center. My friend made me a glitter shirt. Had your name on it. Bless you and your family ❤😊 27:31 27:33 27:36 27:37 27:37 27:41 😅 27:55
In the 90s, I just happened to go to a bar with my sister, not knowing that there was going to be a band. The singer was a new artist named Toby Keith. I didn't listen to country music, I'm a rock n roller, but once Toby Keith started singing, I was hooked. He's made me laugh, dance, and cry with his songs, and it hurts my heart that he's lost his battle with cancer. R.I.P. Toby, you'll be sorely missed. Thank you for leaving us with some great music to remember you by.
Cancer sucks. How lucky are we as a country to have such an amazing man among our ranks?! Rest in Peace, Toby! You are wearing many crowns in Heaven. I picture all of those children you supported while they were fighting cancer rushing to you when you arrived at the Pearly Gates ❤ Jesus loves the little children, I know He was especially proud of your tireless work here on Earth. Fly high, Big Dog! 💔
My 1st ever concert was seeing Toby Keith. I remember Blake Shelton opened up for him. My Sister was not a country fan, but I dragged her with me to the concert. That night, country music gained another fan with her. She fell in love with Toby’s music. She had just recently been honorably discharged from the ARMY and TK closed his concert with, The Red, White & Blue…needless to say, she cried. That was 20 years ago. Thank You Toby for giving us your wonderful music and caring about our Military!! Rest in Peace Cowboy! 🤠 🇺🇸 ✝️
As a veteran, am so heartbroken, he did so much to get us through 911,all our losses with that personally..God gifted us with such a treasure as toby.there will never be another amazing human as toby.he has left a hole in my heart forever.
I was a freshman in junior college in Southern California, 1700 miles away from home. I was homesick as hell and had the chance to see Toby at an amphitheater and just seeing him changed things for me. Seeing a fellow Oklahoman got me through those months. I stayed there playing baseball and was fortunate enough to get a scholarship the next year to play baseball at OU. Seeing him kept me there when I wanted to come back home so bad
Toby was One of only two acts that visited us in Mosul, Iraq, in 2005…because of how often and how accurate the mortar fires were around both FOB Diamondback and FOB Marez, where I stayed! It turned out to be the first of three deployments as a Combat Engineer…and I have never been so Proud to be an Oklahoman and a Sooners Fan!! Toby is truly a Patriot of the Highest Order!! Thanks, Coach Stoops, for your loyalty and dedication to The University of Oklahoma, to all our Veterans, and for all the Memories!! God Bless and Godspeed, Gentlemen!! See y’all Saturday….BOOMER!!
I’m sorry you had to go, but I’m Happy knowing you’re no longer in pain. “Don’t cry because it’s over, Smile because it Happened!!!”-unknown You Sure Did Happen, Tobi🥰RIP
I had Toby's band Easy Money before he became the star he is today.....Back then I couldn't wait to talk to him about OU football. like me he kept up with recruiting even to the point of knowing the players forty times and verticals and etc..... like Brooks and Dunn and Little Texas and others it became clear as house bands they would open for big names and then be better than the so call star at that time!!! A lot folks wish they could be them but these guys work there rears off .....people often wonder why certain stars last for so long........ answer is they write there own songs.... so thankful to have had the opportunity to meet such a caring person who loves people so much..... Ironic I was in Nashville the night toby signed his record deal....@ Printers Alley .. He walked in with his manager.....nobody even knew him.... HOW DO U LIKE HIM NOW!!! Bob so glad you interviewed BIG T .... God please give Toby more time.... This World needs his love and compassion!!!!!! TCL
I so wish he had not passed , cancer is so unfair . He was my age when he passed. Heart breaking , we will always miss him 😢💔, I guess what gives me & I hope others comfort he is not in pain he is with his dad & nanny & in Jesus arms…❤️
Thank you bob for this interview it is wonderful to hear all these things about toby what a life this man had i loved him and his music he left us way to soon😢❤
When I was in ROTC AT OU, I would always get gas at the Love's across from the casino because they had the lowest gas prices. On 4 separate occasions I ended up at the pump next to TK. He was always nice, especially when I was in uniform. I don't know why I never thought to ask for an autograph...
@TobyKeithmusicofficial_v2307R.I.P Toby Keith. When i feel down in life your music always helps me that and Jesus Christ. Im only going on 42 but feel like im 90 been thro a lot. Fighting lupus and mixed connective tissue disease and a heart problem since i was 24 as well other health problems. Lost friends and famliy to cancer has been hard. Then my sons mom while in the U.S Army i had so much respect for Mr. Keith. But anyway the song dont let the old man in. At my age because health i feel that way. We lost a true star here on earth but Heaven got a really good guy. All of us that give are hearts and souls to Jesus like Toby did and repent are sins to him we all will live eternal life in Heaven together for ever and ever. Amen!
Thank you for posting this. He was so optimistic! I never thought it would end like this. I'm so glad he had his faith. I just hope he didn't suffer at the end.
This is by far…the best interview I’ve seen with Toby…what great palpable respect, and deep friendship these guys have for each other. So many people interrupt others when they’re interviewing..so frustrating.. Bob asked a question, and wanted to hear everything Toby had to say…he was a listener..So much history in these short 40 minutes..Toby looked great..I was SO hoping he’d pull through..I really thought he was going to..I STILL.. cannot Wrap my brain around the fact he’s gone 😢.. I’m just a fan..don’t have military history…just someone among millions, that feel like they’ve lost a good friend…. How DEEPLY one person can touch, and affect our lives…We will keep his memory very much alive amongst us…and continue speaking his name..and his music will live on..forever…GODSPEED..
I just cant believe this wonderful man is gone. So glad this video was made and to hear more of his life...Toby, you sure are missed by so many. My heart goes out to his family. RIP Cowboy💔❤️
This Longhorn appreciated Toby’s patriotism and love for freedom. Sad day for sure , but he now knows where his faith got him….eternal life. Boomer sooner today!
I’m so glad you did this interview. The part of telling how the service member coming back full circle to help him. This is a sad day for us but he is good with the Lord.
Can you imagine the songs that are flowing through Toby right now, since he has seen our God in Heaven, his family, and the beauty there! I'll bet he has 5,000 more nunber 1 hits in his head! God bless Toby!
Fantastic interview one of the best that I've heard... Thank you for sharing this... Congratulations Toby Keith for your sold out shows in Las Vegas for December 2023 .We love you and appreciate you . God speed...🙏❤
This is a perfect interview. Toby Keith, Oklahoma’s pride and joy AND Bobby Stoops the GOAT! (Sorry Switzer this is my generation). I never got to see Toby Keith in concert but I went to my first OU game last Saturday night 9-7-24. My daughter had the honor to play on OU stadium field with OU’s band, at age 14. We went to retrieve her instrument from the tunnels and I looked up and there he was…I was speechless. Couldn’t even muster the words to ask for a picture. I only said “Oh my God!”, when I saw him and I was a foot away from him. I watched many a OU football games from my home but what are the chances I’d run into Bob Stoops my first in person game. God Bless Oklahoma football, Bob Stoops, we love you man, and Toby. You gave us a gift; your music we whirled around on the dance floor to, sang along in the car, or just tapped our toe. and it lives on. You taught us that being a patriot is a core value. Red white and blue are our national colors, that’s first, but make no mistake, in football, our blood runs crimson. There’s only one Oklahoma and the American flag flies in our yard till the day that we die. No apologies. God Bless Oklahoma and the Great United States of America.
Such a great interview with Toby!! He was making plans for his future. I thank God for Toby’s strong faith. I pray that people watching this interview who don’t know Jesus will give their hearts to Him today. It’s such a wonderful feeling knowing where you’re going to go when you die! That gives me, and Toby, that peace that passes all understanding!! Bless his wife and family. They’re in my prayers!! ♥️
Toby is awesome. I watched him open for Brooks and Dunn in the Lloyd Noble in the early/mid 90’s. He put on an OU jersey and the crowd went nuts. Prayers going up for Toby.
RIP my dearest TK .. always a loyal and dear friend to the Sooners 😢 .. We’ll never forget it .. Lost one of the Lord’s best From fortunate acquaintances with your former Easy Money band members and (their beautiful daughter 😊) to attending your benefit concert for Ally’s House .. Thank you and God Bless 🙏🏻

RIP to this legend. He looked so much better in this interview than he did at the peoples choice awards back in September. He must've taken a turn for the worse rather quickly. Regardless, will never forget growing up listening to TK. So incredibly thankful for not only his music, but most importantly for loving our troops and being a true Patriot. RIP TK.
