Productive day! Question - Old tech is so gratifying in its simplicity and effectiveness.

Great video also as someone who grew up watching scrubs every time you say “the Tod” all I can think of is the character Todd from the show and how he would refer to himself as the Todd

Wow that 40” caliper just made me laugh. I’ll more than likely never use one that long. Wonderful content as always.

You've seen the welding cable method of heating RR tires? Same might work here.

Nice job. The moment the shrink link goes in was nerve wrecking to watch, should it go home or does it get stuck because it cools down too quickly? In that case it would be a lot more difficult to heat it up again because of the thermal mass of the flywheel added and that it can be heated only from one side when it's in the recess.

Very informative. I’ve read of shrink links before on some of the large engine sites. It’s great to have a video of how the process was done. I can imagine they would have used a portable forge to do basically the same process of heating. I do have a question…….what was the purpose of the series of square holes in the end of the flywheel?

I think they are for jacking the engine to a start position with a very large bar.

No offense. I realize you're very knowledgeable on these issues. But please, get you some proper scaffolds up there. I would hate to see people doing something for the Good of it get injured.
