I'd love to do this again with some cutting and other interactive tests. Some of these really come alive in use in a way that isn't what you expect from their appearance. Great fun day! ❤

Great video! I would like to see another on scabards. Looking at all these swords made me realise I dont really know how scabards are made, what their made of, or really anything about them. Would be interesting!
The Burgundian, that's my girl! The type of crossguard that Matt said he prefers is probably more appropriate. However, Peter gave it that one because A.) the guard on one of the originals it's based on is thought to be a Victorian alteration. The original I'm referring to is the Wallace Collection #A466. And B.) There is another Type XVIII arming sword with a fishtail pommel and a very similar guard, where the ends of the quillons match the pommel by being somewhat "fishtail" shaped. I believe this sword lives in a private collection currently. However, it can be seen in photo plate #19 in Oakeshott's book the Archeology of Weapons.
The Doge's look is precisely why I "needed" it to be my first Albion purchase. Years later, it's still one of my favorite swords. Edit1: Funny they also look at the Archduke, which is my most recently received Albion purchase. I wonder how many others that I own will get called out in this video. Edit2: Lol...yep. They pulled out the Sovereign, which is another lovely Albion I happen to own. Edit3: Now the Principe! Edit4: ...and quick appearances by both the Munich and Chevalier.

24:55 Of the Albions I've sold, I do regret selling the Landgraf the most. I let it go because it doesn't quite fit the time period I was looking to collect, but it was an amazing sword. 26:00 The Chevalier doesn't really do anything special for me, but I've always felt a bit of a connection to that one since I named it.
Great video! Nice to immerse in a little Albion content; had me reminiscing about the golden days of myArmoury - this was like a mass video version of those old written reviews. The XIV you have there is the Sovereign (not Yeoman) - one of my favorites and happily housed in one of your wonderful scabbards. Huzzah!
I've cut with...2...Albions in my whole life, they're insanely good and expensive, I treated them like glass I was so afraid to damage them 😄 I don't really like messers, those wide blades or the big hollow ground ones 🫤 I love that arming sword with the fishtail pommel though that would've been mine, it's sleek and unadorned, just a functional piece of art 🙂
I love these videos and think all 3 of the people in it are great at what they do. But it's hard not see Skal as the relative amateur here, which gives the vibe of a keen undergrad who's super proud to have been invited to the Senior Common Room to hang out with the famous professors for the day. It's cute, and I love it.

Don't usually like longer videos but I'd have been happy if this was 3 times as long. Don't know if it was in that collection but my favourite would be the Henry V sword. Blade has beautiful type XVIII curves and a much nicer guard than that Albion.
I do love "the doge". Only thing that would make it better wpuld be if it were slightly curved in the last 1/3rd of the blade. I like my short swords to be striaght & double edged & my long blades to be slightly curved & single/back edged. Which is why I specialize in Kindjal & Sabre. Lol
@@brittakriep2938 The English use of "Messer" does not follow German grammar. especially since it refers to a certain type of swords, and not a knife. "Messer Swords" quickly becomes "Messers"

Großes Messer ( Great knife):Shorter swordtype, definitiv no tool. Kriegsmesser ( War knife): Weapon only, full length sword. Großes Messer and Kriegsmesser are swords, with , especially at handle/ grip, knife characteristics. Was a weapon of german culture circle. So using german words, especially such ones never existing Messerschwert is in german a total nonsens, doesn' t exist. For example a Haumesser/ Hauer ( hewing knife/ hewer) is a dated word for machetes, billhooks and huntingknifes called Waidblatt. Buschmesser ( no translation necessary) was in my childhood used for machete. And Entermesser is a naval cutlass. In context, every weapon intressted german speaker, knows, when a knife or sword is meant. Oh, in Hessia, a Kneip is a small knife. Do you realy think, we germanspeaking people can' t use our language? Btw., a Messerschwert doesn' t exist, but a Büchsflinte/ rifleshotgun exists, this is a combination gun.
The Duke felt telepathic in my hands and Armizare doesn't work too bad with it. Plus I'm a fan of slightly shorter longswords and the Type XIIa and XIIIa I like a lot. But I too love a gladius because to not like it is to not like a Toyota truck. It does 80% of what you want 95% of the time for what it is.
