For me streaming has it place and great for casual listening, but you can't beat the sound of vinyl and the quality of listening to a CD in comparison. I can see how you are getting a great experience with a really good set of headphones Mark, you can get a really detailed and punchy sound from them. Great video!

Hi Mark, I like the fact that the pleasure of listening to music on vinyl has been recovered. They are objects that have their own charm. Personally, having a good collection of CDs, I preferred to expand that. I don't have vinyl and I don't buy them because it would be too expensive for me . At home, I often listen to CDs with my portable CD player. When I'm out and about or on holiday I always have Elvis with me, on an MP3 player which is much more practical for me. ❤

Good topic, Mark! I prefer to listen to Elvis on LP’s and CD’s, or other physical media. I don’t really enjoy streaming very much, except for sometimes in the car if it doesn’t have a CD player. Whichever way you prefer to listen to Elvis, enjoy! 😊

Steaming in my opinion takes away some of the experience, getting the record out ,cleaning ,putting it on the turntable etc etc ,looking at the cover .

I prefer the Sound of a broken Shellac 78rpm😅 *Absolutely 100% CD* ! But if the Recording is *NOT available on CD* it's the Vinyl i'm listening to😁 Thanks Mark! @I'm growing up with Elvis Vinyl Records😉

A long winded reply coming... I have good headphones, good earbuds, a good sound system where I can play vinyl, CDs, SACDs and bluray audio, and a couple streaming devices. In my case the downfall is 62 year old ears that are probably closer to an 75 year old set of ears. I've a hearing loss since I was kid, as did my father and his mother before him. The most common words from my in conversation are "what?", "pardon me", etc. lol. I still hear differences however. I agree 100% the vinyl '"experience" is preferable, I like it not because it sounds better me (which in many cases it does) it's because I like all those things you describe. Streaming is great for all the reasons you mentioned. Spotify through my system sounds great but is edged out by other formats. The downside of streaming is it allows you to tap onto the next thing and I find myself not giving albums by other artists a chance to have them grow on me if I don't like what I hear in the first 30 seconds. The heyday of the cohesive album has mostly passed and we're now back to single songs as the main art form. CDs, SACD & Bluray audio are great too, the latter 2 being the place to find surround sound which is outstanding if well done. I would love to see the Elvis Quad mixes released on SACD just to hear what they're like. The fact that I've paid more for one Elvis Album than what a years worth of Spotify costs gives me pause at times, but then collecting music and listening to it are different animals in many regards. What do I listen to the most? Streaming, by a long shot, for casual listening, especially with non-Elvis music. Serious listening I always go for physical media of some kind. Still planning on getting my own channel up but after vacation I now have painters and contractors in the house for next week or more, so my house isn't very conducive to anything right now! Good video topic!

At home I always play vinyl. I have all my FTDs digitalized on a Plex Media Server so I can access all my FTDs on the road or anywhere without damaging the cases or taking the media. I even got a section with over 500 soundboard and audience recordings for when I wish to listen to specific concerts. I only use Spotify when my server is offline.

Sounds pretty sensible to me! When I was a kid, some of my first Elvis singles were 50s originals that were given to me by my uncles looked like they had been cleaned with a wire brush and I played them on a portable record player that my sisters boyfriend called "the meatgrinder"..and I loved it. It makes me laugh when I hear people complain about how horrible digital music of any kind sounds, they should only know...but to each his own.

Hey Mark, interesting topic. As someone who gave up physical media entirely over a decade ago in favour of streaming and have gone back to physical media in fairly recent times, I have to say in terms of clarity and detail, the latter wins hands down. Sure streaming is extremely convenient, and if I'm in the car or outside, it's how I always listen to music. But nearly all streaming is in a lossy format, it just doesn't have the same amount of information. If you're hearing more detail through headphones, have you tried listening to the same thing via streaming and also on physical media to see how it compares? I'd be surprised if you thought the streaming version sounded better. Another downside of streaming services is their poor approach to cataloguing, with all sorts of cheap and nasty public domain releases jumbled up among official albums. It's physical media all the way for me these days. Vinyl vs CD - on the fence on that one. Pros and cons for both. Thanks for sharing buddy👍🏻

@markselvisforeveryonechann1153 yes, I'd agree with that, especially when listening to recordings that were originally analogue. Apparently it's all to do with sound curves, vinyl favours mid-range which sounds warmer to human ears 🙂

A very interesting discussion Mark - I love how Elvis RU-vidrs find different things to talk about. A lot of this stuff about streaming goes right over my 76 year old head. I grew up with records until cassettes came on the scene, and added those to my stash, although I preferred records. When CDs were invented, they seemed to be pushing vinyl out, so I started buying them instead, and now my Elvis collection is a mixture of LP and CD - I can't justify having one of each for every LP issued, although there are many overlaps when I have to have a gatefold LP set as well as a CD! The closest I have got to modern technology is having a friend put a bunch of my LPs on to a USB stick so I can play it in my car because my car doesn't have a CD player like my old one used to. I don't understand how ipods, MP3, streaming, etc. works, so I live without it. As for listening to music through headphones - no thanks!

Streaming for sure is more convenient and what I listen to most in the car or while doing things around the house. I have the same head phones you have and they are great. When I want to relax and focus on the music then it’s vinyl or CDs. I have what I guess would be considered a decent audiophile system. The overall best experience is vinyl although not necessarily the best sound on that system . CDs are ridiculously clear and you hear everything. I have a tape deck hooked up to my system and occasionally I’ll listen to a cassette. I didn’t remember cassettes sounding that good but on my system they sound great. A buddy of mine just gave me his old TEAC NT-505 dac. He swears by high end streaming so maybe I’ll start more in that direction now.

Hi Mark Great video I'm into both streaming and CD. I love both, but I will always fall back to my cds. I grew up with albums but once cds came along I was hooked. I also have an mp3 player that I load a lot of my Elvis and other music on. I will always collect cds because I love collecting Elvis since to keep adding to my colkection:) I can never collect enough , am I right lol Thanks and TCB Bill

Vinyl mainly, but I've been disappointed with the sound quality on a lot of old/original Elvis pressings, so I end up streaming unless I can find a good reissue by Speakers Corner/Analogue Productions/Music on Vinyl etc.

I stream a lot of Elvis music, but it's a dedicated music streamer. I also have a very high quality turntable, amp and cd player to get the best from all formats. What do you listen to Elvis on? Our friend Scotty showed us his fabulous setup recently, can you do a video of yours?
@markselvisforeveryonechann1153
@markselvisforeveryonechann1153 3 месяца назад
Thanks! I listen to all formats but I stream more than listening to vinyl and cds simply for time and convenience and because I’m constantly on the go. To be able to listen to music on my headphones wherever I go is nice, but there is definitely something to be said of having an album with a beautiful gatefold! I did a video on my turntable and speaker set up a year or so ago if you look through my video library. 👍🏻 I’m looking to get a new cd player at some point. Likely after the holidays.
