Today, I'm Brave - Curt Smith 

I've met Curt Smith at McCabes in Venice Beach when I was 14. I had been tweeting him months earlier. When I met him back stage to get my copy of Primal Scream signed, he said he already knew who I was and had read all my tweets to him. He proceeded to talk to me about Primal Scream and told me I was stylish. He signed my book "Peace + Love, Curt Smith". They say you should never meet your heros, but I strongly disagree. Meeting my hero was an existential experience that continues to fill me with purpose and drive to be a musician to this day. TFF forever.

OK Curt , one thing I want to mention: As I was growing up in communist Poland and the only thing we had was 80`s music including yours. I was a very happy kid and we had very little. When I hear your music it reminds me of a very happy childhood....

We loved your music, your songs, your dance, your looks, your wisdom, your everything you gave us Curt, and we have never took you two guys for granted...TfF still sounds better than ever today...love 💙 ❤️ TfF

Curt's talent with his voice is magnificent, and he may be known for being the lead singer in TFF, but other than that he learned to appreciate his own personhood and made the right choice to seek the truth within himself. I feel like it's better for me to know Curt Smith not as just another member of TFF but also as simply Curt Smith.

I see Roland regularly as he lives near me. Only once have i approached him and told him how i think TFF music is the best of the 80s .i think after buying all the albums etc that fans should at least be able to approach you without being intrusive or a pain and tell you.

My mantra is simply that your attitude & behavior, informs all others about who you truly are. (Your authentic character.) The celebrity Curt Smith's attitude & behavior equally balances. His intellect reinforces his shared, personal choices. This informs all of us that we can trust in him. That truth & honesty, matters to him. 🌿

I adore this band SOOOO much. I cant go though a day without listening to TFF or listening to an interveiw.

I saw TFF with Hall and Oates in Minneapolis in May 2017. They were great. I hope they tour again because I love those guys!!!

When people quit a band after it's become very successful they are mainly doing it because they can now afford to. They have made a lot of money, the pressures aren't there to earn a living as before, and they can basically semi-retire at a young age and enjoy the large amounts of money they have and also to look forward to a guaranteed future income from royalties from the songs they've written that will still be being played on radio and will still sell in shops. Most big bands fall apart when they become successful and members leave because they are able to as they have no money worries anymore. No disrespect to Curt, I've always been a huge TFF fan - The Hurting is one of my favourite albums ever - but I think at least part of his decision to pack it in and move to America was because he could, for the reasons I've given here.

When I was 10, I met Roland Orzabal at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, PA. He ignored me and my aggressive requests for an autograph until he finally said "Go away". But his annoyance of my then-brat self has never reduced my opinion of his music. I still love his songs these many years later.

Roland has a rich and very powerful voice they are both great though heard them recently with hall and oates who were good but they didn't compare to tff should have seen all the dancing girls in the audience tff were fantastic hope to see them again made me feel young

Thank You Curt! Glad you stepped back from the industry to regroup and glad you are back in TFF! Lots of music artist such as Jerry Rafferty had the same experiences when Jerry took the bull by the horns and made his success his own being in the recording studio, creating new material on his own watch and did not let the pressure of the record label he was on abuse him for it with endless tour dates! He said NO and threw all of his Grammy's and other awards in the clothes hamper! They mean nothing!

I played and sang for 50 years! Never got big because I didn't want that life for my kids and I. I haven't played in a while due to medical issues, but I do miss it. Had a lot of fun!

I could almost tell that he wasn't really completely happy (putting aside the tone of some of their music). I hope he was content, because they've always been one of my two favorite bands of all time, absolutely love their music, but I always had this nagging feeling when seeing their vids and live, that he wasn't as happy as us fans would've liked. I just hope he knows that people like me think that TFF is one of the most amazing bands that has ever existed; so much amazing, unique and creative stuff. For me, Seeds was their masterpiece, but Big Chair was a very close second, and I still loved everything else they did without exception.

I think TFF was an expression of who you are anyway..maybe just not all of you for that time...but i for one am glad you fucked off long enough to give us that great music. Its hard to reconcile how much i loved it and of course wishing the best for you, and yes even though i don't know you or you me..still good advice..be who you are. hey that's a song !

If having left the star system of pop music, Curt feels better then he made the right choice for him. My question is "but are the pressures of the recording industry so strong that you prefer to give up the fame, the women and the money you have when you're a pop star? For us normal, ordinary people it's hard to understand how you can give up fame succes and money. It's obvious that to become famous, you need to make compromises, but even we ordinary people make compromises without success, women and money.

Life's ups and downs...regardless of who you are or what you do. However, these words bode true in so many ways. Too many people living in some fantasy existence where they really truly believe they are performing to others just to maybe feel accepted...loved...wanted..needed when reality bites and that nobody in fact gives a shite? Bar a few for sure maybe your closest to you yes that's a fact. I.e., those who are non judgemental types. But that let's face it is a rare trait nowadays. Sad but true. But never ever give up....ever. Too many judgemental folk happy to pour scorn? Maybe they forget that the halo above their very own heads is really just invisible BS and doesn't actually exist. At least not in the real world. Maybe they ought to wake up. Take it into account. As for you, Sir, your talent is natural, superb and real - you did more than many - entertained millions over and over. As of course so did TFF....I guess my fave band? I don't see how leaving his childhood friend and stop talking to him for 10 years was a brave thing to do, but they are fine now so I guess it doesn't matter anymore.

Just watched life story of Freedom: George Michael. An autobiography. Curt is saying the same things George so eloquently does in the video. The sad thing is that George says not a single artist stood beside him during his fight with Sony, "but they watched in the wings for the outcome". If you felt this way as so many did about the "slavery" George stood up to fight, why didn't you stand with him Curt? For that matter, where where you Daryl Hall and John Oates? You all make the same point, but you never supported one another. Too bad.

bottom line, in a nutshell, you mature mentally, and less gracefully physically lol life doesn't begin until 40, the 40th degree, at that point, you have a real good understanding of the reality you're involved in you've seen the cons, lived through various presidents and changing of offices, different portions of political agendas, you start catching on, and you start realizing the one(s) giving you that reality live a completely different reality than your own, keep in mind this only happens (this waking up process) if your're a somewhat conscious, curious human being, most people can go through life living out their indoctrination, a completely programmed and brainwashed life not really understanding they've been played, the ones that wake up or start getting it in life, are the ones that had that spark of knowing there's something really wrong with the world in the 1st place, there's got to be something in you that's yearning to seek and investigate, that leads to the finding yourself that curt is speaking about..

I didn't like how roland wrote curt out of the seeds of love, he basically replaced him with oleta adams. she got way too much attention on that album and tour. and curt got pushed to the back, no wonder he quit..
