We finally finished all 5 truck loads of the hard maple today! It was a bout 50 full cords of logs that turned into a firewood mountain! It will be great firewood that should dry fast in the giant bin! #firewood
Good morning everyone, did you ever think about running another extension cord from the generator to the dump trailer while you’re splitting? Give the trailer battery a little boost. I know it won’t fully charge it but it’ll help.
I wish. Here in the Feliciana parishes of Louisiana it’s currently 74deg with 98% humidity(normal) and expecting a high of 95deg. Little if any rain today but higher chances tomorrow with an approaching cold front that will knock the daily highs all the way down to the mid to upper 80’s.🥶
Some people are ambulance chasers. i listen for chain saws. Today i got some oak and they even loaded it in the truck. the crew was gifted with sloppy joes, baked beans, slaw, along with some ice cold German Ale.
Looking good, learned alot from you, never had videos about firewood learned on my own 45 plus years of cutting and splitting thank you Chris for sharing your time
Hey Chris! Great job getting the maple done. You are blessed to have a logger who sold you some really good firewood poles. The sunset was spectacular…and fitting. Take care!
Since I can't do any firewood work, am watching your video while burning uo some small split box elder firewood. Can't wait for Friday! I finally get to do something other than stare at the 4 walls!
Way to go Chris! Nice job! I have cut and split maybe 1/15th of that or maybe 1/20th of that. Ok, Your equipment are "little" better than my, but good job anyways! I´m very happy what I have done also inspiring by You. Next spring I have some wood to sell. Yes yes yes! Good night Irene!
G’morning Chris ! Nice to see you finally follow through with something. Lol. Excellent action today. I got a huge load of ash and maple yesterday. GoodNightIrene
Hey Chris! Fun video today! Awesome job on getting through the truck loads, really enjoyed tagging along with you on getting through those! Looking forward to your next adventure! See you tomorrow! Andrew from NB :)
Chris, 2-3 yrs back you would say all the stacking and bending kept your back loose and stretched. It appears mechanical machinery has changed your lifestyle. Any physical changes?
Michigan here... I have contacted seven local (northern suburban metro detroit) area firewood sellers. Not one of them have or are still selling firewood. I do have a place with wood in stock and one site but they charge almost as much to deliver as the face cord costs. I will pay it but it would be great if you could do a few videos on residential wood splitters so I could get a better idea on investing in splitting my own logs from local storm damaged.
p.s. what would be most helpful is what ton should the splitter be to be worth the money. I have an electric 5 ton but it really doesn't seem to work well for the hickory and apple wood I get from my yard.
I have a harbor freight 5 ton and I’ve split oak, hickory, locust, maple, ash and it’s been great, I’ve split up too a 16” with it but I’ve had some that didn’t want to split so I took my saw and cut a grove on one end lined it up with the wedge and it split, I’m up to 3 1/2 cords with it so far
Any box store splitter for around $1000 will work fine and last for years. If you go way back 3 years on my channel you will see I had 2 of them and put about 300 full cords through each of them.
Good evening Chris, I was just wondering, have you any idea how much split wood you've produced so far this year and how does it compare to what you produced in the "old woodyard". Sure you must be well ahead, especially with the time savings of the big bins. Keep cutting, keep splitting, there's never enough 🤣🇬🇧
Great video! As a guy entering the retail firewood space you've been a great help. Quick question: with the sawmill, is there no way to have someone make a 6 or 8-way splitting head so you don't have to further process the wood into small pieces?
Did i miss the story about why you don't have a wedge on the processor that will split the wood. Do they not make one for that model? I follow eastonmade and he made it sound like they had other options. Double splitting makes the business owner in me, die inside.
They have a new wedge that will be coming soon that splits finer. Just so you know...re-splits on firewood, especially bundle wood, is very common in the firewood industry.
I’ve been wondering. Have you ever tried backing a trailer of rounds to the processor and having someone Chuck them in while you run the splitter. Would that be faster then dumping them in the field then picking them up to run through the 4 way.
I know at your original wood yard you always covered your stacks to keep them from being woodsicles when the snow flys. What’s your plan for these big bins?
Not sure, a bunch, a lot will be for next year now but some of it it will be good right away, it is barkless and totally dry now ( I already have a load and you will see it soon)
I do not know which pile you are referring to I have lots of both there. But yes 1 row 4x8 is a face and 3 that make a stack 4x4x8 is a full...128 cubic feet.
