The most important thing, and this from experience, just do it, don't wait for all your ducks to follow in a line ..The biggest problem is procrastination. It is a very big problem and the reason why most of us fail, because we never start. Remember, the road to success is different for each and everyone of us and no two paths are the same...So make your own story and start now.
Running your own production company is not a joke... Contracts, taxes, dealing with clients, dealing with law suits and more, like marketing... It's not "let's hold a camera and film". If you want to do that full time then go work for a production company. Opening one is almost 100% biz and little art. I learned this the hard way. :)
Any business IS 100% business. If you saw this as something else, then that's entirely your fault. It has nothing to do with the nature of business. It's related to how you handle and run the business.
Look folks, we are living in the best time to start a business, especially one that is made for social media. This industry, is changing drastically, thanks to the internet, and this is your chance to make your Mark. Great book, to Read - Crush It by Gary Vee.
Just from the first sentence of your comment, I had a feeling you were a Gary Vee fan lol. 100% agree with you! You have to at least try. If you're young and you fail, it'll make for a great memory when you're older. Either that or painful regret
This actually helped me boost my confidence in managing my video production that I'm starting now. I've been having problems with looking for clients especially if you have so many competitors in the market. I even made my own video showreel in my own channel :)
I plan on producing documentary’s, true crime thrillers, Tv shows and romance/drama. I’m still in the planning stages, but I have a global vision for my corporation
I started a small production company called Mirror 2 Mirror Production with my girlfriend two years ago. It was funny because I had been cast as a dancer on a commercial and it reminded me how much I wanted to make movies when I was younger and so did my girlfriend so in staid starting out working only on set we and since we were both dancers we started making film like dance videos that had an underlying story and soon a bunch of other people wanted some dance videos and we made a couple to learn some more and then moved on to music videos. Our team has grown a little and right now we're working on two music videos, a couple presentation videos, a commercial and are in pre-production of a short film about doing what you love to do in life so that it gives you fulfillment vs doing something you don't like or just make money off. And we are also in really, really early pre-production of a psychological thriller feature film that is intended to shake the belief of our own existence and reality and the main protagonists fight with his own sanity. For the future I'm hoping that we get to produce many more feature films because film production and story telling trough film has always been a desire of mine. Also thanks for giving us courage and inspiration and good luck to everybody with their dreams and aspirations.
You are proof, that if you put your love or passion into something you love, the rest will follow.. Most people, wait and wait, just to start something and they never get around doing it...So good for you, and I wish you all the success...
@@luckyboypictures Thank you. Well I do love film-making but I am still restrained by time. So many things to do and so little time. But I'm always excited whenever we do a new project. :)
That is an interesting film. I write my own my own material. I want to open up my own film production company. My agent talk me into doing it because he felt people would benefit more off my material then me just writing it, getting a check and that's it. I just don't know what kind of film production company. I don't know if there is more than one. Trying to find information now. However, good luck to you!!
I started a sort-of production company when I was fresh out of high school and I was not ready for it. I also took some really strange advice from a person who was supposed to know and never even registered a name for the company. I guess legally my first and last name was the name of the company. I had it for occasional jobs, but had months without income. Because I had no income I sometimes forgot to file taxes those months. It happened 4 times. Starting a company is great, but make sure you're ready for it. It's not until now, some 10 years later, that I start feeling like I want to do it again, but it's partly because I failed so hard the last time.
Haha funny, Im doing a business project where I make a business plan for a theoretical company, and I was really stuck on parts of it and needed a break, but this helps thank you.
Don't veer off that path. I was the same way, and after many years that I lost, I am finally back in the game. STAY FOCUSED, and maybe YOU can be the youngest Academy Award winner.
