Skyrim is incredible. Can't wait for that 20th anniversary release on 11-11-31.

Love or hate, This man just wants to make and play fun games.

"One of the reasons we're sitting here, 10 years later, is because of our modding community" That is so incredibly true. Skyrim is a great game, but the modding community elevated it to an unreachable status. There's no other game with as many mods, as many creators. Imo, there's no other game with such a deep, rich modding tool-set that is as uniquely powerful as it is accessible. Whatever future Elder Scrolls titles are released, Bethesda would do well to retain the flexibility and depth of modding for their engine and toolset. If they abandon that, they abandon a significant portion of their fanbase.

Love how he mentioned the quests in oblivion, some of my favorite quests ever are in that game. Especially the dark brotherhood quests

Ryan has always been my favorite from IGN. Always has the most thoughtful and well put questions. You can tell he’s a real gamer and enthusiast at heart.

A lot of people are praising Todd & rightfully so but props to Ryan too, he's a fantastic interviewer.

Great interview - really impressed that Todd recognizes what the best strength of each elder scrolls game is. Gives me hope that he will put ALL these strengths into the next Elder Scrolls game. A game which has all these strengths would be truly amazing. Each new game has been a step forward in one way and a step backwards in another compared to the last game.

For me Skyrim was great for it's openness, music and the depth of it's lore. The people who call it shallow really don't take the time to look at the big picture of Tamriel, it's geopolitics and conflicts. To understand the groups, you also have to look at the gods they follow, and the traits of those gods.

Fallout 4 and Skyrim on Xbox One were my first Bethesda experiences. It would be cool if they would give us some remasters of the older games instead of backwards compatibility on the XB1 and another Skyrim edition…

Why are none of you “journalists” bringing up important bullet points like where’s Jeremy soules music on es6?

As the technology gets better, the story telling gets weaker. Take the dark brotherhood questline in Oblivion vs Skyrim. In Oblivion, the entry was not scripted and you might never stumble across the option to enter. Step out there and murder one soul in Tamriel and the game took notice. And then, once in, the choices were painful and there were consequences in the choosing. This was my favorite storyline because it cost something real. Skyrim brotherhood was like watered down orange juice in comparison.

Honestly the social element of Skyrim really resonated with me. Skyrim's a single player game but it's just so much fun and I've talked with my friends about it with hours.

Love the fact that he acknowledged the "simplification" of the games after Morrowind. Hopefully they bring that recognition to light for ES6

Single Player offline Games will always be my favorite way to play for full immersion don’t really care about online games never will

The fact that Todd and Bethesda endorse and even sometimes hire the wonderful modders within the community will serve to make their future games insanely well-made and pretty much timeless.

Oblivion is like that unloved child that Todd left when it was 3 and never looked back. Meanwhile he's with his new family celebrating Skyrim's birthday each year saying how happy he is to have it in his life.

Someone needs to ask Todd if he’d hire the script extender team. That would be huge

Skyrim is the only game ive owned different copies of and put hundreds of hours in but never actually beat it.

For me it's the world of Bethesda games. Yes many games surpass the elder scrolls in terms of gameplay or story like the witcher 3 but in the witcher 3 it doesn't feel alive the way Elderscrolls games do. NPCs just stand in place or places just feel like building between me it feels like a map with things to do not a world to explore. In TeS games when you walk into a road side inn or Tavern you immediately feel that sense of warmth and safety even when you aren't playing on a survival mode you just feel like "Yes this is a place you can relax." No other game reaches that level of immersion and detail like Bethesda games do.

Why can’t Microsoft farm-out a graphical remaster of Morrowind for us to play while we’re waiting 4 more years for ES6?

A game released on 11-11-11 should really have a 11th year anniversary. Who cares about the nr. 10?

Main story and faction questlines should be focused on in Elder Scrolls 6. You see mods that fix everything in Skyrim... Everything except the main/faction quests... It's just too hard/takes too long time to mod those parts!

Really cool that he sees a flaw in how NPCs react to the player in Skyrim, something they will hopefully improve vastly for the next Elder Scrolls. Growing actuall relationships with characters and seeing the world properly react to your factions and acomplishments
