Todd's mimicking sarcasm was his way to apologize without anyone knowing how guilty he felt. To admit something like that is to admit weakness, and he isn't strong enough to fess up to his weaknesses. He's still a bit of a coward, but he's growing more every day, and soon (with Marty's help) he'll be able to accept his weaknesses and admit his guilt freely.
@Luv2bsteph Powell went on to become the worst kind of rapist too one he became a serial rapist and he blamed that on Todd. He took no reasonablity for his actions. Nor did he try to figure out why he joined in with Zach and Todd on the gang rape. I sorry but someone ,made me do it doesnt' cut it on a crime like that. Todd took resposiblity for his own actions and felt real guilt... Powell & Zach both really shown NONE.
omg, Roger does SUCH a GOOD JOB with EVERYTHING HE's GIVEN. These scenes are amazing, and he does an outstanding job with them all, from how he delivers his lines to how gorgeous he is.....OLTL ruled back then.
Honestly nothing changes if you are in a situation that you don't want to be in. Because it means you don't have to change the way you live because of what happened a year ago and that's exactly why. Because I agree with everything that Todd is saying because Todd is right about everything.
"i'm gonna think about it every minute of every day for the rest of my life" he's being sarcastic here, but he doesn't know how true that ends up becoming. whether it's through the rape, or starr/cole and hope, todd and marty were always inextricably connected whether they wanted to be or not.
Wow these two are absolute gold. I always wondered if todd & Marty if the rape never occurred could have been something special. They have amazing chemistry in any situation. I guess it's a catch 22 bc the gang rape was such an epic saga plus the aftermath that it made their dynamics so intense. Oltl & malone had to be kicking themselves that after the 80s had ended they struggled to find a fresh new ingenue & leading man & a new supercouple. These two are both the same age & very young beautiful & are emmy winning actors already to boot! Sometimes I wonder if everything was kept the same up until the rape only with todd saving Marty from some random frat boys. I really think if todd was Marty's savior from a gang rape she would have seen him in a different light & they could have started bonding about their terrible childhoods. Have marty see Peter's abuse & he learn of how badly her parents death affected her. In 95 when they had scenes & todd started looking out for her & she for him as a kid I was kinda like wow they are so great . Imo they never found the right guy for Marty. Jason was better with leeann, kevin & marty didnt have it, suede was annoying & marty could do so much better in terms of she was brilliant & he was kinda dim. Dylan was pretty but dim. Patrick I could not stand esp after he knocked blair up he became a total a hole. Their was a scene in 96 where marty went to slap todd & everyone on the message boards agreed that Marty/susan only came to life & at her best with todd/roger. I get why as an adult a romance would have been so offensive after a brutal gang rape but these 2 have so much chemistry it kinda sux they could never be a couple. I was right there with todd when they had that fire side chat about how he wished he had stayed to hold her bc " maybe it might have worked out " also marty was too saccharine sweet with all her guys. She & todd could have had that fighting chemistry as a couple kinda like alan & monica. Todd is sorry but he is still a long way from " growing up " that he had to cover it with sarcasm. When he was pleading with ray to make her stop he was like a little boy. These 2 are amazing. Todd did change a lot though. The year b4 he was arrogant in prison & still blaming everyone else nora luna powell & marty. He was plotting his escape from the second he got there. This time hes not even thinking of escaping & instead of arrogant & blaming he is now self loathing self deprecating & just calmer. I really believe he went pyscho from the head injury from luna. Then he went even more crazy when he bashed his head against the wall then od'd on lithium.
He changed radically over time. He did have an active conscience, It bothered him his entire life and he spent a lot of time trying to make up for what he did. I've always thought what he did to marty was out of a misplaced sense of attraction to her. I also think she was attracted to him but there could be no romantic relationship because of what he did to her.
todd took a bullet for patrick and marty and it still wasn't enough. the entire point of their relationship is that nothing would, or ever could, be enough to make up for the way he brutalized her.
No, part of Marty's storyline was she slept around. She was lonely and living in that big house on her own as an orphan so she was taking guys home for company. She slept with Todd once before the rape
