My 5th grade teacher (also my favorite teacher I ever had) would play this song at the end of every Friday before the bell rang. He made learning fun and made me look forward to school every weekday. R.I.P. Mr. Wagner, thank you for being the best.
you gotta have fun at work and school. 30 years ago I was a teller manager. On Fridays after closing, I had one of my tellers sing the theme to Love Boat about 6 or 7 times in a row. He could sing too. Good times.
In the 80’a the local radio station would play this at 5pm every Friday. my boss would let me leave early soI could pick my toddlers up in time for this song to come on and we would bop to it all the way home every week for a few years until we moved! My son now 41 still remembers. My daughter now 39 doesn’t,but still Love this song!!!!
Colts used it during the Super Bowl season in 2006, which meant it was played in Miami when they scored TDs......against the Bears. I bet Rex Grossman still hates this song with a passion as he heard it after Pick 6's.
I have a great memory of going to to see Todd with my son and his Mom . The show was in Oakland on a Saturday ,kind of a matinee. Every body got up and danced . Todd brought up kids from the audience ,and there was my 10 year old banging on the drum with Todd . How great is that ?
When I was a kid, the local rock station up in PA played this every Friday afternoon. Loved it, meant it was time to go out and party and forget the world for a couple of days .
Back in 1984, WCLG-FM in Morgantown, West Virginia, would play this on Friday afternoons. I don't know how long before or after they played it. BTW, Todd Rundgren is 73 today (6-22-21). Happy birthday to him, and many more!
That's probably where I remember it from, almost as if I was born with it, spent '85-87 in San Diego and my dad was a huge audiophile [sold stereo equipment for a living]...
San Diego CA radio station KGB 101.5 FM played this every single Friday morning for the 5 years I lived there. 1989-94. And probably way before and after that.
KLOS 95.5FM here in LA played this every Friday afternoon. This was when ABC still owned the station (Merulo Media is the new owner). Geno Michellini would play this.
My oldest son when he was about four or five would get so excited when he'd hear this song. On one of the radio stations at 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday would play this. So every weekday I'd make sure that my Ian could listen to his favorite song. He's 26 now. And still likes it to this day.
The ultimate 80s anthem. Hard to fathom a cassette tape in a Walkman turning into the Internet, wifi, digital music and instant access to classics like this.
Back in the 90's every Friday at noon, Pat Martin from 93 Rock in Sacramento would play this song. Part of his "Work force double shots" program. We would shut down the entire job site to listen in. Amazing how much it boosted job morale! Thanks Pat!!
Back in the 90s every friday at 5 pm, 96sto in tristate Evansville/Owensboro would play this song with a mix of the simpsons and other movies and i can't find that anywhere
Played this during our 4:20 break at work for two months before we got caught and subsequently fired. It was great while it lasted, and we all hated that place so no harm no foul or love lost, save a paycheck i mean.
This was on the radio when I was heading into work today. Had not heard it in a minute. It is a beautiful spring day and I don't want to work. I want enjoy this weather. And, yes. Bang on a drum all day. ❤
When I worked for Benton Dental Company. Julie my coworker would put this song on her radio. I loved it then. Only on Friday s.I still love it. I was 20 yrs old then. I am now 58 yrs young. Lol.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Where I worked in the 80's, the local radio station, FM 95.1 played this song every Friday at five. A coworker always got up and danced and cranked up the music. We were not as bold, she was dating the boss but we all had fun every Friday to this song. God I miss the good ole days!
Erica Wow Buffalo, NY is called ( SNOW CAPITAL OF USA ). 1977 Blizzard it snowed every day in December & January for a total of 16 feet. City & Schools closed for 3 weeks. People really hated us. There was a Quote people were afraid of us like people were afraid of movie JAWS. Its true Lake Erie dumps 10-12 feet every winter. Buffalo is just an unlucky City losing 4 Superbowls & all that snow. No wonder Bills fans are crazy we get to Tailgate 4 hours before the game. People drinking Alcohol at 9am. Buffalo has a big IRISH POPULATION maybe thats why. THIS IS TRUE ALWAYS WHITE CHRISTMAS IN BUFFALO.
I have it on my iPhone as well, my alarm for waking up and my breaks and lunch ! Love Todd ❤ My brother Mike and I went to A lot of Utopia & Todd concerts, I nicked named him , My Todd ❤! I heard this song many times Green BAY scouring against my BEARS but that is OK .!!! To of the greatest NFL teams the oldest rivalry in PRO FOOTBALL.!!!
@@petewood9710 Brian Urlachers Bears and Brett Favres Packers were some of the best football games I've ever watched and will always be nostalgia to me. Loved it growing up.
This song is a metaphor for my life. Although mostly successful I lacked a "work ethic gene". Twenty plus years with the Great State of Minnestoa and then I was just done. This was my theme song and still is in retirement. I love the Hawaiiian version the best! A masterpiece.
Growing up in Philly I used to hear this on one of the tv news station all the time, it was practically an honorary theme song. Someone tell me I’m not making this up lol
