This is literally a self-preservation instinct all functioning humans have since they came out of the womb. Infants who could barely even walk yet are known to fear heights despite having no prior knowledge of what falling is like. There is a reason doctors do these certain tests, like the Moro Reflex test, on newly borns in order to assess their cognitive functions.

Did you know babies can recognise right from wrong as young as 3 to 4 months. It’s a part of a massive study about how they manage to learn a language or two, read and write. Communication, complex relationships, religion and so many more things from birth until 6/7 they are in a very special mind set that allows them to learn, retain and recall the information learned in those short years. Our children are a true gift from God.
