They're not really shown as friends though.. I mean... They're in the same frame... But not really anything else. Froppy and Habuko Mongoose have more connect for god sake.
It’s strong but that’s about his limit currently, you can see his body was already suffering the quirks consequences of freezing himself while normally it takes a while, here it took simple seconds
It was embarrassing for sure, but i dont think it's the kind that would make you angry. The crowd wasn't mocking him, rather they understood why he didn't stand a chance.
@@muhammadamirhamzah6477 SSino was pointing out that it probably made Sero feel even worse is because of the chant, it was apparent that they didn't believe he even had a chance from the start. And that would sting.
@@UGLYMF-xr8nn todoroki shoto is the Japanese version or way to say it I think. I’m pretty sure Japanese culture us pronounce last name then first name (I THINK)
Sero is strong. He judged his opponent accurately and made the best possible move given his odds. He's also strong mentally, he didn't feel discouraged for loosing or got angry at todoroki. He knew it was just a bad match up. He'll make a great hero some day.
I mean if you or I had to face a dude who has ice and fire powers, of course we wouldn't get angry if we lost. We'd most likely be thinking "Well shit. I excepted this to happen, but not this quickly."
not really I will say this Seto tape bands have way more applications the he currently uses them for, basically in this fight he should have used the arena to swing around and wear out Todoroki, that way he never would have touched the ground.
@Fluffxykityy Yeah, he is one of the boys that likes looking at Midnight's body. He was clearly interested if Midoriya saw Uraraka naked during the Provisional Licensing Exam. It was clear he wanted details.
Hey guys! I noticed nobody here has decided to ruin the joke yet so I’ve nominated myself to do it. Ahem... *”AcTuaLLy iT’S a TouRnAmeNt sYsteM sO uA WerEn’T tHe oNe’S WhO sEt uP ThE mAtcHmAkinG”*
well momo wasnt able to counter attack or do something in that battle, who wouldnt get discourage? especially that shes a student that got through ua with recommendation like todoroki
@@izykainah5189 Sero too wasn't able to doo anything and he never will, wouldn't that make you feel discouraged just as much knowing you could never do something to surpass your idol just because of sheer luck (Todoroki being lucky in the quirk lottery)
Ok but like momos loss was arguably more embarrassing because sero actually started off with a pretty cool and swift attack (which if only he wasn’t magically slowed down to todorokis thoughts he would’ve won right there but dumb plot armour) with confident spirits and enthusiasm, while the impression todoroki made on the crowd was that he was extra and overreactive. Like seriously, a whole ass wall, no, skyscraper of ice just to stop that kind of quirk??? That just gives off the impression that he was genuinely worried that sero could actually beat him and acted flashy on purpose. Momo has an inarguably better quirk, was put in ua by recommendation, and was put up against tokoyami and awkwardly tried to figure out how to use her quirk and lost without even knowing by getting PUSHED. I’m shocked that she didn’t just disappear forever after that match.
0:58-1:05 "I don't feel like I can win...but I don't feel like losing either!" I like Sero's spirit. Even against an opponent he's sure to lose against, he doesn't just give up on the spot. I think he will make a great hero because of that!
Ngl it only made the situation worst for sero his lost to todoroki must've been so bad that the audience started to cheer him up so it can make him feel better after the fight but nah poor sero didn't feel anything at all he just feels guilty for that to happen :(
Poor Sero. 1: he got destroyed by Shoto 2: Shoto also freed him 3: Deku basically has his quirk now 4: Uraraka also basically can do what he can because of those wires she added to her costume.
I'm a manga reader , but i think it's better to add a Spoiler Alert to avoid any trouble with Anime Only's Edit : because of my really high IQ i forgot that the part where he gets black whip is already animated
I think the natural advantage Sero has is that his Tape can stay in place after it's out. Meaning be can brace objects, or restrain targets for longer durations than Deku could with Blackwhip. He's also shown setting up traps with it, like a damn Spider, iirc.
@@nebulous9280 yeah, Izuku's black whip only lasts until he stops his quirk, however, Sero's quirk create matter that stays in the field. More than that, Sero learned to use his quirk in many ways, he can move like spiderman, he can Immobilize an ennemy, he can trap the field and much more
I think its perfect since being a hero you will be placed a lot in a situation where you are at a disadvantage and its your job to come up with ideas to overcome the situation.
@@InPhoenix12 on the contrary, Todoroki is at his peak when the fight starts. So he really focuses on ending fights quickly with giant attacks, kinda like how endeavour likes
So this definitely confirms that Todorokis quircks become even more powerful thanks to their feelings/emotions! The more intense they feel happiness, anger, fear, hatred etc the more powerful they’ll be
I kinda felt bad for sero. 1. He got destroyed in that battle. 2. His loss was so bad the crowd had to try to cheer him up. 3. The one he lost to was also the one who freed him. Just a bad line up. Sero isnt even that bad. He has good potential, but got horribly counter-picked.
If he put himself through extremely intense physical training to increase his agility, speed and strength he might of had a chance. Todoroki would be more likely to win but he would have a chance
Todoroki: turns sero into iceberg* “sorry” Sero: “oh no, dont worry this is great, now we just need someone that can transform into titanic and we’re all set.” He says with strong sarcasm in his tone
Sero knew he didn't have a chance against Todoroki, but he still fought with all he could. And I like how Sero still seems okay after all that. Not physically, but emotionally it is. He didn't even hate Todoroki after that.
@@microwavedchicken4274 it seems to me like most pairs pitted against each other in this tournament end up becoming good friends. Like Bakugou and Kirishima, Kirishima and Tetsutetsu, etc.
@@microwavedchicken4274 Nah bakugo held a grudge with shoto for not using his full power. Not a serious one but still felt shit emotionally cause he seen it as shoto not deeming him worthy enough wheras he used his full power against izuku
I respect Sero so much cause even though he saw that he'll most probably lose, he still tried and didn't give up right then and there. Respect to him. 👏👏👏
Sero is probably more embarrassed that the whole crowd yelled “dooon miine!”, than losing to a daddy issues teen that can control two natural elements.
It doesn't really matter for Sero after being smashed by an iceberg, if they cheer for the winner, or say don't mind. Same for Todoroki, who wouldn't be happy to hear cheers right after he lets his dark side out. The unfair part is that they have to fight each other despite being so different in power level. But it's a part of hero's job... They both lost in some way
The funniest part is that Sero didn't even try to play it off at all, he was like 'Yeah I'm not going to pretend that I didn’t lose. Just get me out of here!!'
The sports festival was the arc that made Shoto my favourite character back then. The Stain arc afterwards only reinforced that opinion... It's sad he barely gets the spotlight nowadays.
Really Todoroki definitely gets more spotlight then most of Class 1A besides Midoriya and Bakugo ofc. I know this arc and stain arc made Iida one of my favorites now that's someone I wished they continue with more
Well that's my opinion but todoroki has always been an overrated character overall, his character is a bit bland compared to the reste of class 1-A, and the fact that he has such a powerful quirk but doesn't know how to use it makes it worse
@@Shadow_ScAmmER he's just playing the role of the pretty boy. And he's also the one who introduces us to Endeavor who's a core character to the show and the manga in general
The dude's quite overwhelming when you get down to it, considering he has one of the most useful Quirks in his class, it's just his luck that he's constantly competing against guys who have monstrously powerful Quirks, such as Todoroki, Bakugo and even Tenya, thus forcing him to always take that backseat.
shirosaki97 Tenya hasn't got insane abilities I bet sero could pose a big problem to him Probably even defeat him Sero actually beat 5% midoriya in a race So he's pretty fast for his level
When Shoto defrosted Sero made me feel a little sad for him. As the winner but the audience only paid attention to Sero. No one noticed Shoto except Izuku, no one congratulated him, everyone just cheered for Sero. As for Shoto, he himself was sinking into the negative, even when he won he was the one who had to apologize and use the power he hated the most (fire in his left arm) to deal with the consequences.
They didnt cheer for him because they knew they could cheer on Shoto in the later rounds, the audience wanted to show a little support to the guy who lost in a second.
I love how the crowd said, “Don’t mind” to make Sero feel better. I thought that was so cute and thoughtful of them, cause they could have just cheered for Todoroki and ignore Sero, but they instead decided to make him feel better🥺❤️
Makes sense. I mean, at the end of the day, the students are all just trying to become society's next generation of heroes. The last thing the crowd wants is to discourage them in any way. Too bad pitying Sero like that only made him feel *worse* afterward.
I always thought the "Don't mind" was intended for Todoroki. It was the audience's way of saying "Don't worry about the fact that you just lost control of your powers/emotions there for a second, it happens to us all"
@@afan3258 I think thats it actually, it would be normal for a group of kids in a competition to let themself go a little and lose control over their quirks, so it is like an unwritten rule to tell the students that everyone can have a slip.
I felt that it's disrespectful against todoroki. He won. Of course you can tell sero to don't mind, but not cheering to the winner is really disrespectful.
Poor Sero. Humiliated in front of everyone by a teacher, then humiliated in front of everyone again by a classmate. If it were me I'd want more than a 'sorry' -_-
@@microwavedchicken4274 the crowd was screaming at bakugo since they though he was "toying with his opponent in battle and making it long" todoroki did it short so they weren't mad that's not humiliating if i 1v1 a guy and i want to end it quick and i one shot him and im accused for humiliating that's some top tier bullshit
Some games have levels where you can fight other players in the end low level players stand no chance again the highest leveled players since their attack do more damage and their health and other stats are so high that the low level person cannot even do damage
Sero is one of my favorite characters in the show. His tape is useful for crowd control, rescue, utility, and Spiderman-like combat. Also his costume is dope
Disappointed Father there are so many but so many he would stomp this guy in ease tbh so it's not like he's spider like combat it's gonna help against strong enemies just against weak and normal ones
I would love to see Sero get somehow revenge for this, not in the literal sense as he isn't one to hold a grudge or anything, but more of a "redemption" match where he surpasses Todoroki in a different aspect of being a hero and not just raw power.
People say midoriya will be a monster when he will control over his quirk but this guy is a monster now with only half powered ice imagine him having full control over ice and fire and using it creatvily
Yeah unless he gets nerfed out. Elemental powers are always OP in nature and having two elemental powers that are literally in balance and cancels both weakness is just too *BROKEN* so unless he gets nerfed out he'll be too damn strong.
This fight actually pissed me off, as it gave the sad reality of the MHA world. It's also why I hate the series now, it's the same shit over and over again. They can't even make it interesting like jjk.
We saw him cover like a mile of Forrest in the training camp easily. When she shot zoomed out to make the trees tiny we saw the crazy scope of his blast. Man made a small mountain.
Sero is one of those characters that despite not doing a lot and not catchin ur eye constantly like Midoryia, Bakugou or Todoroki, he's always cool and funny and does really make the best he can out of his screentime. Sero deserves much more, take away all of Mineta's screen time and give it to Sero
when the women said "DON'T MIND!" and everyone else repeated after her, that scene made me cry and still gets to me every time idk why, hope I'm not the only one
Iceninja VG the english Translation and dub would imply it was specifically for Sero. had it been me in his place I would've been heartbroken my fight only lasted 10sec
What makes that small part of this scene incredibly full of emotions is the background soundtrack and the audience giving their support to Sero as they shout, "Don't worry about it (Sero)!" ... and as the audience supports Sero, Todoroki feels guilty as a friend and is like, "Sorry Sero. I didn't mean to over power you and practically humiliate you in a tournament where we showcase our quirks to get sponsorships. Let me help you." Todoroki is obviously gifted for being who he is, son of Endeavor the 2nd ranked hero... so no one really pays attention to what he goes through and neither does he himself as he represses most of it as his parents have raised him to be. Endeavor tells Todoroki that had he used his other side he would have won his previous battle with ease, dominating the fight... ... Todoroki wants to be a hero his own way... he was just very upset with Endeavor as his father and their past that he lost his cool... literally, and that's what shocked everyone; the amount of power showcased in this scene... the size and speed of that attack... ... how can you not be amazed?... ... even Endeavor was surprised. Todoroki is looked upon by others as some overconfident cocky-like young hero with issues, much like Bakugo... ... but he's not... ... he's not irrational and is really cool, calm, and collected and logical (as they show in future episodes)... and is very aware of his comrades feelings and situations and watches them from afar... like the friend he is... for example: with how supportive he was with Momo Yaoyorozu against Aizawa. ... his character personality is done amazingly and is much like his two quirk sides: the ice side represents his cold and calculating demeanor that sleeps under his calm composure, his control over his emotions... ... his fire side represents his passion, his pursuit of power, his burst of emotions if he doesn't repress it... ... only through balance of his conflicted personality of emotions and the utilization of both sides of his quirks can he be at his best... as a hero and as a healthy person. This is a person, a young hero blessed with two gifts and feels conflicted whenever he uses either side, because of where it came from and what it means to him whenever he uses his quirks. The music, the background OST is an amazing piece to attach to Todoroki's character and emotions... ... ... easily one of the best, underrated favorited side character in My Hero Academia... ... ... we will definitely see more of him in the future.
Fortunately Todoroki has two really good friends: Midoriya and Bakugo... who were the only ones to really pay attention to Todoroki and how he's doing and only want him to be his best.
@@ananya4228 No... Midoriya is perceptive as usual and always pays close attention to his friends... ... Bakugo does the same thing except as a rival... in season 4 you can clearly see Bakugo and Todoroki's friendship start to bud from the way they acknowledge each other's words...
@@yakkulx Yeah I know Bakugou acknowledges him(pretty much from season 1)but Iida is the type of selfless and caring friend that Todoroki needed, besides Deku. Those 2 are the only people he can open up to. I know Bakugou indirectly pushes him to his best too, but pretty sure Iida is the better "friend" of the two
@@ananya4228 Episode 19 (or 82) of season 4, around/after the 9:00 minute mark you see how perceptive Bakugou is, as he always has been with his surroundings... And then shortly after the rouse you see that the only person to acknowledge and understand where Bakugou was coming from was Todoroki... ... Bakugou just has a rough way of words, as per his character. As for Iida, he is their class president and friend... he is friendly and always lends his time for his mates but he's actually hardly ever really there for anyone when they needed it, only towards Midoriya and it was to show how much anxiety and stress Midoriya is dealing with... ... if not Iida, it was the Uraraka... ... Iida never paid that sort of attention to Todoroki... ... in fact, it was Todoroki who lent his shoulders to Iida during Iida's stressful times when his brother was injured by Stain, AND during their fight. I wouldn't give Iida much credit, not that he gets zero credit, just not as much as those 3 young heroes: Modoriya, Bakugou, and Todoroki... Iida is Class 1A's voice and a friend to everyone, but so is everyone else in that class, and that's pretty much all Iida is... ... Todoroki is their star, their No.1 most promising student... ... Midoriya is Class 1A's underrated star, their MVP, the heart of their crew... ... but Bakugou is Class 1A's leader as depicted in season 4 episode 16 & 17 (79 & 8o) and even near the end of season 4 at ep 82, he moves the class like none other... ... also the hero with the strongest fighting instincts and reflexes and acknowledged as the young hero who came up on top as the no.1 during the Sports Festival.
