I've been looking for a positive, non vulgar, non sexual song that represented a healthy gay relationship and I _finally found it._ Thank god for this man.
Sami just wrote a critical response to this visual album for school and this is exactly the feelings I expressed in my paper as well!!! I’m love this and I love Todrick !!
Natasha AndCompany Ikr. TBH these days I can't get through a music video. That's why I love Tod's stuff because I can get into it. Especially his show because I be like "oh I'm thirsty but Tod is on rn I'm not dying" lol
First time I heard this song, I got super excited and fell in love right away. This is my first time seeing the video, and it makes me love the song even more. So damn beautiful.
I always used to get confused by the last line "Whenever you're there, darling I swear I don't see colour" but now I understand, he doesn't see Todrick as black, just as human.
@@ontarionyoung5689 Yeahhh, I see where @Daniel Rosen was coming from though, because sometimes people can misinterpret the phrase to suggest that being black is problematic. But yeah, I feel like the song is trying to communicate that race is not an influential factor, as he SEES his race, acknowledges his race, respects his races and, mostly importantly, would never judge him according to his race; he loves him for just being him.
@Waterbear yeah I definitely didn't mean it like that- you just made me realize how bad it sounds. I'm probably gonna delete the comment soon so no gets offended
Omg, I would love that, but u know that some people don't approve of "diffrent gender love" , but I hope the world sees how it's ok to be all diffrent. I hope your idea some time might come true.
I would watch it I think it would be cute seeing a gay/lesbian movie on Disney or nick or something, once upon a time did it once with two girls who fall in love which was cute
may i just add that i love the triple meaning in the lyric "the world will never understand our kind of love." 1) the love they share is one so grand that no one could ever truly grasp it.2) the interracial aspect of the couple.3) the fact that they are in fact a gay couple. both this one and the 2nd one are things that aren't widely accepted or understood in many places and so i find that this song has a lot of layers and interpretations and i'm absolutely in love with it.
Everyday before today was never grey Was always black and white until tonight yeah I wasn't expecting ya To have me seeing sepia And shades of light But it feels so right yeah The way you touch me The way you hold me My hearts about to burst You are the first to really know me I want to love but first I need someone to show me Afraid to fall at first but thats the old me There's somethin' about you That makes the skies blue And whenever we're through All I can do see is color There's somethin' about us When we're together And whenever you're there Everywhere I see color (Jay Armstrong Johnson) Every second you can bet my hearts collecting Little butterflies when I see those eyes yeah When our hearts collide I hope our world is a kaleidoscope Cuz black and white Never shine so bright yeah The way you touch me The way you tease me me I'm trying not to fall for you But falling seems so easy My heart was locked but boy You got the key to free me Invisible to love But boy you see me There's somethin' about you That makes the skies blue And whenever we're through All I can do see is color There's somethin' about us When we're together And whenever you're there Everywhere I see color (Todrick & Jay) And maybe the world may never understand Our kind of love (Jay) Say, "That's quite enough." (Todrick) But I'd fight for us (Todrick & Jay) I like to be the kind of man You like to love (Jay) We got a right to love (Todrick) And baby I like to love (Todrick & Jay) You Cuz you're my favourite hue (Todrick) There's somethin' about you That makes my skies blue And whenever we're through All I can do see is color (Jay) There's somethin' about (Todrick & Jay) us When we're together (Jay) And whenever you're there Darling I swear I don't see color Read more: Todrick Hall - Color Lyrics | MetroLyrics
I hope nobody takes this as racist, but this is an amazing example of how some people don't care about what colour other people's skin is. This video both represents gay rights and that black and white people can really be together. I hope nobody got offended but I appreciate this video for what it is and I support gay rights (not that I am gay) and I support black and white people in unity/ am against racism.
I think you're right :) also I think that's what 'Garrett' (the boyfriend) meant at the end when he sings "and baby I swear, I don't see color", y'know? Because it doesn't matter to him that Todrick's black, he loves him for who he is, not how he looks. I love the double meaning of the song, and the song itself, and I just !!!! I'm so proud of Todrick for being able to put so much of his soul into this whole album. That takes major guts, and he did it, and I really hope this album gets the recognition it deserves.
I love this song. My boy friends black and my parents are constantly on me about why I'm with him and if it's because he's black. People always assume we're dating because we hate our own race or are ashamed of it. No, we just both embrace each other and it's the healthiest relationship I've been in.
+Mari Girl not trying to sound rude but, are you new to the fandom or something? Todrick's never exactly kept it quiet.... I'm just curious if you're new or you don't watch him much... no harm meant or done tho no worries
This is relationship goals for me as a gay guy. unfortunately, there are no good gay guys in my life with potential for this kind of love. I am hopeful, however. Thanks for the great songs.
@@eroshernandez1661 yeah not many consider it a full showing of the couple, good representation but most mean a couple with actual developement instead of cardboard cutouts of overly stereotypical gay people
I've just realised something! This love is the rainbow, that takes Dorothy, aka, Todrick to Oz! I'm probably stupid and everyone else already knows this!
I did not expect to run into this kind of a feeling in the morning of a work day. I sing songs about things like this to myself and never thought I would see something so cute and meaningful in the form of a music video. It is a struggle that I've had to go through with my previous relationship. He was white and I am clearly not. Everything was about race and when he and I were together, that didn't matter at all because I just knew I was happy. This is wonderful and I am so pleased that you are out there doing music for all of us. Gay, Straight or in between, it doesn't matter. Thank you!
I dunno if "cognitive dissonance" is exactly the term I'm looking for here, but the brilliance of the way Todrick has juxtaposed what might almost be a stereotypical romantic love song straight out of some 60's Doris Day movie, yet it's for gay lovers NOT exaggerated, NOT "flaming," NOT "in your face," but sweet, gentle, loving and just friggin' ADORABLE is perfect.
This hits different when you listen to black and white. Color has so many meanings in the title. The acceptance of skin color no matter the odds, even if it defies your parents and society or the fact that when you're in love it feels like you're watching the world as if it were new.
Straight Outta Oz introduced me to Todrick. This song MURDERS me every time. Writer, singer, dancer, director, choreographer- HE SLAYS. Too many people, sleep on Todrick.
“The way you touch meee” UGH the way he says “meee” melts my heart...it sounds like a violin. I can’t help but repeat that exact part over and over again.
"Color" (feat. Jay Armstrong Johnson) [Todrick Hall:] Every day before today was never gray It's always black and white Until tonight, yeah I wasn't expecting you to have me seeing sepia In shades of light But it feels so right, yeah The way you touch me The way you hold me My heart's about to burst You are the first to really know me I wanna love, but first I need someone to show me Afraid to fall in first, but that's the old me There's something 'bout you That makes my skies blue And whenever we're through All I can do is see color There's something 'bout us When we're together Whenever you're there, everywhere I see color [Jay Armstrong Johnson:] Every second you can bet my heart's collecting Little butterflies When I see those eyes, yeah When our hearts collide I hope our world is a kaleidoscope Cause black and white Never shines so bright, yeah The way you touch me The way you tease me I'm trying not to fall for you But falling seems so easy My heart was locked, but boy you got the key to free me Invisible to love but boy you see me There's something 'bout you That makes my skies blue And whenever we're through All I can do is see color There's something 'bout us When we're together Whenever you're there, everywhere I see color [Todrick Hall & Jay Armstrong Johnson:] And maybe the world will never understand Our kinda love [Jay:] Say, "That's quite enough!" [Todrick:] But I'll fight for us I'd like to be the kinda man You'd like to love We've got a right to love And baby, I'd like to love you Cause you're my favorite hue There's something 'bout you That makes my skies blue And whenever we're through All I can do is see color There's something 'bout us When we're together Whenever you're there, darling I swear I don't see color
This is such an amazing song on the most moving album! I can't get enough of it! This song made me cry on my drive home from work because it touched me so much. I interpret it as a song about an interracial relationship, which is such a great thing to proudly publicize, but the part that stuck a chord was that it is also about two men loving each other. Especially since I still feel like a new kid on the block when it comes to my self identification in the LGBTQA+ community, because of when in Texas I live. But this song validated my pride and hopefulness! Not to mention my fondness towards Jay! 😍 I'm so proud of you, Todrick, and your costars! You're changing lives and the spaces around them! Love you guys!!
I love this song Todrick Hall. I would love to see if you filmed what happened behind the scenes, since I can't find a behind the scenes video for this song.
Their voices together and absolutely amazing and I don't think anyone both females or both male's can out do these 2. I LOVE how they both are happy together and have no shame or feel shame to hide it
I was grinning thru the entire video and giggling like a loon because I was so happy watching this! This entire album is a work of art that I've listened on repeat for weeks. 😊
Though posted years ago, here I am watching this amazing and beautiful video with a message that rings true and clear in my heart and life. I love you Todrick Hall. You are simply geniusness personified!!
