Thank you so much, Juva.... I just got my TOFEL score report today... Speaking 23, writing 24, reading 30 and listening 30.. Indeed, your well concise explanations and input helped me a lot...you certainly are amazing.
Congratulations Chukwu! Your scores are amazing, you can be so proud of yourself! I'm so glad I could help :). I'd love to ask you a few questions about your experience. If you are interested in that, please drop me an email at contacting.juva@gmail.com . I'd love to hear from you :)
I’m loving your explanations. You are so incredible. Thank you very much for these classes. My main problem is bad notes taking. I am able to listen and understand everything you are saying but if I have to stop to write anything, I can’t listen anymore. So I lost many points of the listening... I’m having trouble improving on that.
I'm so glad you like them! I know that taking notes can be really hard. However, if you practice, it will get better. Just don't give up, you can do it!
To tell the truth, you are amazing as TET prep. Initially, the TOEFL exam has got I kind of luck. I can prove what I say using my score in the TOEFL reading section. I took the first one yesterday, and I scored 24. Despite this, in the past 3 hours, I took a new one, and the result was 11 out of 30. This massive change in my score has shocked me. I am embarrassed to say that. However, what I want to say is that may you are so lucky then you are going to see an easy passage. I am talking about a practice test from the TST Premium course. Ultimately, I will be glad to see your opinion, JUVA.
Thank you so Much Juva!! You are the best!! I got 30 in the listening TOEFL section!! I appreciate your support and help, and taking the time to explain and provide the keys to it!!! All my best!!
And many answers look alike and are like Trap and i always choosing the wrong and ask Whyy, why they made it in that way?:):D i hope to be more prepared for tonight, the BIIG GREAT TIME for the exam:D
@@juva Hi Juva 😀 I did it online, I made a mistake at the beginning, reading section🤭 I didn't follow the time and I answered 17-18 questions and left only 5min or less. I put too much attention to reading so carefully the question, the answers and the passages... There were 30 questions. I did 17-18, then in the last 5min I just by intuition put some answers on 5 questions and the time end. So I had unfinished 5-6 questions. 😂is not funny but, yes, I made a mistake with the Time. Listening section was ok, I used some notes, but later the marker fell on ground so on 1-2 questions I didn't use notes, but was ok, I focused even better on what they are talking about and tried to memorize important things, Then I had 10 min break. After that I needed again to show my room and desk to the proctor. Speaking session - ohhh, again mistake.. 🤭😂 when I answered on one question, I talked 30 seconds, there left 25-20 seconds and I didn't knew what more to say... Was uncomfortable situation. (Generally, didn't had much time to prepare, only 4 days, and instead I to practice more with TOEFL, I distinguished my english, then only 1-2 days I used for the TOEFL preparation), But my strongest section was the Writing. Of course I will lose a lot points because I didn't answer on 5 questions(empty), 5 answers by intuition, then I don't know if the rest was correct.. (On Reading). And other mistake with speaking when in Only one answer I lost my mind for 20 seconds. Then I said Ummm, yes, that's why.. And tried add some more words with little giggles) 🤭 uhh. I hope to get satisfying result which can be enough to candidate for university abroad😀🍀 I will get the results after some days... But I memorized some things from you and they helped me a lot for this short time when I prepared😀🍀thank you! P. S. my exam continued 4 hours. At the evening 10 30 pm till 2 30 am😂
@@danialexg.d.9944 Congratulations on taking the TOEFL! That's an amazing achievement, you can be so proud of yourself! I'm so glad I could help :). Thanks so much for sharing your experience, that's awesome. I hope you get your dream score :).
Just a moment!! You've said before being ready for TOEFL, you had not been in English speaking environment!!! Really?? You are not British??? Where are you from then? you know your English accent is excellent
Hi Bawa, I'm so glad you like it. There are usually several conversations and several lectures. I therefore recommend practicing both, so that you are prepared.
If you take the TOEFL in the test center, you will be provided with headphones. If you take the TOEFL Home Edition, you are not allowed to use headphones. Hope this helps!
The listing part consists of 2-3 lectures and then 2-3 conversations, Do we have to listen to all the lecture voice records at once and then answer the ~24 questions at once, then same for the conversions? Or I can listen to them record by record and answer each record questions alone?
The questions will appear after each recording. After you have answered the questions, you listen to the next recording, then you answer the questions regarding that recording and so on.
Hi Priyanshi, I'm fine, I hope you're fine too! Have a look at the question types of TOEFL Listening. If you know them, you know what you need to focus on. Hope this helps :)
I want your help in Reading and speaking section, both are a little bit tough for me, can you guide me how may I increase my score in both section, some times for me so hard to find exact answer in reading section, and in speaking section my pronunciation and flow is not good. And I have another question Can you tell me or suggest me, which headphones are best for TOEFL ibt exam Wired Or wireless🤔
Hi :) Regarding TOEFL Reading, you need to practice how to find the answers in the text. Have a look at my video where I solve the free ETS practice test for TOEFL Reading. In this video I explain how you can find the answers in the passage. With regards to TOEFL Speaking, you should practice talking in English to improve your flow. Also, have a look at the question types so that you know what you have to expect. You can find a sample answer for task 1 in my TOEFL Speaking playlist. According to ETS you are not allowed to use headphones. Hope this helps :)
@@juva Thanks, and I would like to know about headphone or microphone are required in toefl ibt speaking section? Really do I need support of external Microphone? if already microphone inbuilt in my laptop, sorry for This question but I want to clear my confusion😣
@@Mj00527z Don't worry, in the TOEFL Home Edition you can use the microphone and the speakers of your computer, you don't need to buy an external microphone.
Juva, Your videos are really useful and your reading practice videos actually my reading alot easier. I even watched TST prep videos. Both of you are amazing. Continue helping people with your amazing skills. I just got my TOEFL ibt scores: 107/120 (R26, L26, S28, W27). Thank you!!!
Hi 😀 Check out my TOEFL Materials: juva.podia.com/toefl-materials Here you can find lots of vocabulary, such as mind maps for common TOEFL topics, synonym lists and linking words.
No worries, you can do this! The lectures are really challenging. The key is to know what the questions will be about. This helps you focus on the right aspects. Check out my TOEFL Listening playlist where you can find many tips for listening to lectures.
Hey 😀 No worries, you can do this! Try to focus on the key points of the listening. To do this, you must know the question types. Have a look at my TOEFL Listening playlist, you can find videos about the question types there. This will help you focusing on the right points.
hey guys the first time i took this test i got a 86 which really disappointed me. and my listening section was 17. so what i found out was that whenever i try to take notes in the listening part, i can’t fully concentrate on the lecture. the second time i took toefl, i got 27 without taking ANY notes, this really works guys. just imagine the whole lecture/conversation in your head.
Hey Azim, that's so amazing that you improved your TOEFL Listening score this much, congratulations! You're right, if you write down too much, it happens easily that you get distracted and then you miss essential information. Nevertheless, I took notes in TOEFL Listening because I think I wouldn't have been able to remember everything that had been said. But I used a specific strategy that allowed me to keep my focus while taking notes. That's so awesome that you were able to remember everything, respect!
"Imagine the whole conversation in your head" that's exactly what we should do! However if you're fan of writing down notes, you should use symbols, one keyword that'll help you remember the context and bullet points that are as short as possible
Literally, I was looking for this video and today you uploaded this video.. please make more videos on Listening.... One more humble request can you please suggest platforms for mock tests, I am writing my exam day after tomorrow so I really need to practice a lot
TOEFL Listening often asks similar questions. For example, if you listen to a student and a professor, you may want to focus on why the student goes to see the professor because this is a frequent question. If you know what to focus on, it will be easier to figure out the correct answers.
Hello, thank you so much, I'm so glad you like it :). You can't see the questions during listening, you'll only see them after you have listened to the passage.
Hi Juva, thanks for your videos, they are really helpful. It seems I have no problems with note-taking and understanding the context, but I still make about 5-8 mistakes. Almost all of them occurred because I did not read the question/answers carefully or listened to that part carefully. My reading section has these problems, too. Can you suggest something I can do to raise my attention and avoid this kind of mistakes?
Hi Elina, I'm so glad they are helpful to you :). I know what you are talking about. The questions in TOEFL Reading and Listening are formulated in a way that if you slightly misread them, you will pick the wrong answer. I'd recommend this: When you read a question always remind yourself to read carefully. Always think: Is there a word that is easy to miss? You must do this with every question. If you practice for a while, this will become an automatic process and you will not make this mistake in the TOEFL test. Hope this helps :)
Hi :) It can take a bit longer, so don't worry if you need to wait a bit. If it takes too long I'd recommend contacting ETS and asking them whether everything is ok with your test.
@@myleneaffes1487 It is possible, but it doesn't have to be like that. If you need your scores quickly I'd recommend contacting ETS and telling them. This way you may accelerate the process.
Is it possible that my score whilst listening to the CONVERSATION Task is much higher when I am not taking notes at all? :D Whats your recommendation for LECTURE listening task, on which type of words should I concentrate? Many thanks, u r the best"
In TOEFL Listening I'd recommend only taking notes of the most important things. Regarding the conversation task this means writing down details that are difficult to remember, regarding the lecture I'd note the most important points the lecturer gives and the details of the topic he explains. Does this help? :)
Hello Juva am samuel Okalebo from Uganda and a semi finalist for IREX Community Solutions program i am needed to take TOEFL test between march and Aprill i need your mentorship on this please
First of all thank you for your excellent video. It's really completed and usefull but i have one problem. how can we take note during the toefl test when it is forbidden ?
such a legend! video is 8 months old and you still heart and answer the comments! also videos are extremely helpful thank you for your time and effort!
Hi, I have a very basic question. Do we have to answer the questions meanwhile we are still listening to the track? Or do we have some time to answer after the track?
Hi Juan, in TOEFL Listening you can listen to the audio one time only. That's why it's important to take some notes so that you don't forget important points. Hope this helps :)
You're most welcome! Taking notes in the TOEF is definitely a challenge. I'd recommend practicing this before so that you know what works best for you.
Hi, Juva. Please, consider solving TOEFL listening exercises while you explain what the right question is and why :) please, I am about to present the test coming week.
Hi David, I'm afraid I don't have access to TOEFL Listening exercises. If you have any questions regarding TOEFL Listening, feel free to post them here in the comments, I will be happy to answer them! Hope this helps :)
You are allowed to take notes in the TOEFL. If you take the test in the test center you can use paper, if you take the TOEFL Home Edition, you must use a transparency sheet or whiteboard with an erasable marker.
Excellent question! I'd recommend taking notes of the most important information which may sometimes include the kind of information you mentioned. Usually, you won't be asked for years, names and so on, but it might sometimes be relevant to a question.
Hi, welcome to the channel! :) Have a look at my TOEFL playlists and pick the videos you need. If you have any questions, put them in the comments, I'll be happy to answer them.
Hello, I find your videos very helpful, thank you very much. Could you please tell How I can take notes in the most convenient way as we are not allowed to use regular pens and papers while taking the exam? Best
Hi, I'm so glad the videos are helpful to you. That's correct, you are allowed to use only 1 whiteboard or 1 transparency sheet. If you want to have a feeling similar to writing on paper I'd recommend using a transparency sheet. Since you are allowed to use only one I'd recommend practising before you take the TOEFL test. Make sure that you know how many notes fit on your sheet, so that you know when you have to erase your notes during the TOEFL. Hope this helps :)
Hi, I'm speaking more slowly so that everyone can understand regardless of their level of English. If you feel that it's too slow for you, you can increase the speed of the video. Hope this helps :)
I don't recommend taking notes in your own language. You will need to translate the information you listen to into your own language which costs time. When answering the questions you need to translate it again into English. I'd recommend taking notes in English because it's faster and also more helpful for answering the questions correctly.
