​@@TsubasaVotora Because it was about champions and agents that were new to their IP and provided representation for underrepresented minorities, Bel'Veth only being included because it would be odd to skip 1 out of all the champs released that year whereas LoR only had Norra as a new champ to the IP who doesn't provide any representation underrepresented minorities.

@@randomname8616 there are very little elderly women in runeterra, the only one coming to mind is camille who doesnt feel elderly at all. Norra is a unique type of being and identity in that sense.

Currently it makes zero sense for them to be there since they cannot connect to almost anyone there and making the connection would be unbelievably expensive and potentially disruptive/discriminatory depending on who views it. Africa is not yet technologically and culturally ready for Riot's games (at least that's how I understand it). It's most likely that once other tech giants prop the African population up, Riot could step in as well and they will likely do it quickly to enter their zeitgeist in the gaming world. I don't think it's that deep, honestly. Just a smart financial decision. And no, them being a successful company doesn't mean they can somehow pull the continent out of poverty. Africa is a very complex region and super corporations like Meta, Google and Microsoft are struggling. Why would someone as small as Riot make a dent. Makes no financial sense and will likely have almost zero to potentially negative net results. It would be similar to America giving poor neighborhood schools Tablets for learning (instead of notebooks whatnot) and the countless stories of the tech being used as a soccer ball. It's just wasted money and even helps misinterpret the message of education with a worse relationship with government institutions, money and technology. You can't go and help everyone and get them to your level instantly. Africa requires decades. A few generations that are built on modified values. You need the politics to change and you need the culture to adapt and accept. Video games are new. They exist for like 40 years. Meanwhile Africa is a century behind in almost every aspect in many places. Riot is not an infinite money well either. It does most of its charity based on sound financial decisions. It's not random acts of kindness. All of these are approved by their teams who are responsible for their financial stability. That's why they don't just donate 100 million dollars to cancer research. They don't create enough value in it which I think is probably completely rational. Try to always put yourself in their shoes as a company and what you would do. Your job is to ensure the company keeps existing even if you want to use all that money for "good" (charity is not good. It's neutral. The idea of it being good is completely based on the individual's hierarchy of values). Some people don't care about charity and just want to make great video games and design characters. Some care a lot about charity and contribute in their own free time. As a company you need to put yourself and your employees first before providing any extra value which is usually a win-win regardless (most publicly displayed charity is done for marketing purposes).

@@oorrrii Riot is worth between 25 and 26 billion dollars. Taking the low end of 25 billion, they donated 1 million to Ukraine relief efforts (They fundraised 4.4, then added 1 of their own, it's in the full report). To put that into perspective, imagine if you were worth 1 million dollars, at that point you probably own a house with no mortgage, that's pretty damn good! You're well off at that point, better off than most people in any case. Now imagine that you donated $40 in 2022. That's what we're looking at here, it's pathetic. That's not even considering that the more money you have, the larger a percentage you can afford to spare. The fact that they're advertising it as some great deed is absurd and if a corporation could feel bad I'd suggest it should.
