I voted for Rishi in the leadership race because I knew Liz Truss would be a pathetic waste of space, which I was right about. But to have the choice taken away from us is a betrayal of the party towards its membership.

Let us pray that this time we get a Prime Minister who keeps his promises, only makes promises he is sure he can keep, uses the depth and wealth of experience and wisdom at his fingertips within and without the Party government. Now it is the time to unify the party, not by pandering to the more extreme elements, but the solid middle ground. The Party membership needs increasing drastically, and from a much broader swath of the population, for it is within that mass that talent and personality will form and flourish for the next generation of Conservative politicians. Lastly, Prime minister Sunak must govern the entire country, not just us, our Party, and our membership. Governance is not telling people what to do, it is convincing by demonstration that you have a case, and only taking that course once they are all with you.
