Susanne Meyer, a farmer's wife in Schmidberg near Wattwil in Toggenburg, as a young girl watched her grandmother making a hand broom around 1960 and was fascinated.
When she found there were marshes with Pipe Grass on her husband's farm, she made a hand broom from them every autumn. Later, she made more of them and took them to markets. Today she also sells them in the museum shop in Ackerhus in Ebnat-Kappel.
Susanne Meyer is a member of a Neck Cittern music group and plays a composition she wrote in this film.
