Fun fact: The dog playing TOGO in the movie is actually related to him. Also... Togo has been recognized by time magazine and there is already a statue... Disney is just catching on. Lastly, Balto is a symbol of all the dogs that ran it because he was the one who completed all the effort. Also he was tied with a another lead dog called fox who received no recognition because " his name would confuse people". Moral of the story is the media sucked back then as much as it does now + respec the doggos.
I mean, Togo was only one of two of Seppala’s leaders. The other is an unsung hero named Fritz. He was only 6 years old when he completed the run, but got no credit at all.
I have found my people. I've been annoying the crap out of my boyfriend talking about balto and then watching the great Alaskan race and then researching Togo and stuff for days I even went to the dog shelter today and I'm bringing home a husky foster tomorrow
Togo, Balto, Fritz and all the dogs and the musher on that team were the heros. No one dog/man could have accomplished that trip alone. That whole team was awesome!
My favourite scene in this whole movie was when Seppela was giving that speech to calm the dogs down while they were in the ice and it was breaking. That was an amazing gifted scene man.
"He's 12 years old, he's to old he'll never make that distance!" Like my dad always says of his dogs in their old age "He may be old but still strong!" Good boy Togo! :D
"They stay with you as long as you live" Part that really touched me. After losing our dog a month ago, it still feels like she's around me with the same energey she'd always have.
Togo was very ill as a puppy and Seppala gave him away when he was about six months old as he thought he was too small and mischievous to be a sled dog. He jumped through the glass of a closed window just to run back to Seppala. He and his team ran over 260 miles with Seppala through treacherous weather in the serum run through Alaska, farther than any other team. He was twelve when he did this. I am naming my future Husky after you Togo and we shall run in honour of you through the Canadian snow 🐾👣
nocturnal gamer From the top of my Head and IMDB he’s been the main protagonist in the following films...Florida project, lighthouse, At Eternity’s Gate, The Hunter, 4:44, Anti-Christ, Opus Zero, My Hindu Friend, A women, The Reckoning, Pavilion of a Women, Tom & Viv, White Sands, Light Sleeper, Triumph of the Spirit, The Last Temptation, Off Limits, Roadhouse 66, The Loveless,
“If you were lucky enough to know a great one, they never really leave. They stay with you as long as you live. Harnessed to your heart, giving their all.”
BRO IVE BEEN WITH TOGO ALL THE WAY, I loved Balto until I found out that Togo was the real hero when I was 7, I was so happy to hear that Togo is getting the recognition he deserves
Balto was a hero too. Keep in mind that nobody thought he could even make the 50 mile leg that he did, and his leg was treacherous too. Togo by far did the most work and deserves the most credit, but it's not fair to say that Balto wasn't a "true hero".
-Leafheart- wow it is amazing ! Togo ran over 250 miles while balto and the sled dogs ran an AVERAGE of 30 miles. Honestly I think they both deserve to be recognized for saving lives but TOGO really did it by running so many miles
Togo was the dog who made the longest and most dangerous stretch of the diphtheria antitoxin run. Balto just made the final stretch and got all the fame and attention. Thank you wikipedia.
Finally, they’re both honored and TOGO is honored!!! I cried so much in this film. What a great movie!!! Although they only acknowledged TOGO at 2011! The truth still came out!!! I say: “WOW”!!!! What a great movie! For me one of the greatest true to life honoring movie ever!!! Kudos to you TOGO!!!
Love this movie!! Had me in tears!! His statue should be in Central Park along with Balto! All the dogs did great but Togo went a lot further and he was 12 years old at that!!!! Fun fact the dog who played Togo in the movie is actual related to the real Togo 14 generations later!💙💙💙💙
So I'm happy that Togo is getting some more recognition for this run but I do think people get way to ridiculous (and mean spirited) about this whole sled race thing. It wasn't just Togo, or Balto who saved these children; it was dozens of hard working dogs, their trainers, and many other people who worked together and performed a god damn miracle to save the lives of countless children. Getting so hung up on awards and glory is stupid; the dogs don't care about that shit.
True but Togo had the more difficult part and balto finished it. So technically those two teams do deserve a bit more credit than the rest, but I do agree there better be some recongition to all who did that race.
@@razorransom1795 they all deserve to be remembered, balto run the final lap of 50 miles while the others run 80-50 until the halfway where they reach togo's team
Everything about this movie was superb. The music gave me goosebumps, the scenery was breathtaking, there was a healthy dose of both humor and heart and the scenes of peril actually had me biting my nails. The bantering scenes between husband and wife and the flashback scenes were hilarious, offsetting the grim tone of the serum run through the storm. This movie tugged at my heartstrings in all the right ways. Definitely recommend!
Togo is amazing , Disney have made an awesome and factual movie here with great effects and a very emotional journey.. i love togo , this is legendary a truly heroic and intelligent dog..😢
I watched this movie last night while watching my 7 month old husky sleep 💤! I cried so much . But every single dog that participate on saving the lives of these kids are heroes! No doubt dogs are people’s best friends . A mother love and a kid love and a dog love ... are the purest love .
YEEESSS! I've waited so long for someone to make a film based on this amazing piece of history. Part of the reason is that the true story is so inspirational and gripping and a great fit for a movie. Hard as it might be to believe but a lot of what's shown in this trailer actually happened; most startling of which is the ice float sequence at the end, and the part with the pup leaping through the glass window after his owner tried to sell him and he wanted to return to him. Looks like they're going to stick fairly close to the historical record, which is great because it's that compelling! Read "The Cruelest Miles", brilliant account of the entire Diptheria serum run.
I like your comment. I always think that movies based on true story have a little bit absurd scenes. But you wrote all of them are real for this movie. Wow! I love this trailer a lot.
@@kaolinam Cheers! People tend to remember Bolto, who was the lead dog for the last of the 20 or so dog teams that relayed the serum to Nome, obviously being the last dog to get the serum home was a big deal and he got all the celebrity status. However Togo, as many people have rightfully said in the comments, and what the filmmakers of this film realise, was the lead dog of the team, driven by Leonard Seppalla, that travelled the furthest, most treacherous leg of the run that almost single handedly turned the fortunes of the whole operation. The dog himself was also very reckless as a pup and the runt of the litter, but was tenacious and persistent in wanting the lead dog position; again it sounds like a hollywood movie script, but that's what happened! I hope they acknowledge the other teams that were a part of the run; this trailer doesn't mention them and seems to paint it like they were the only team, same mistake which the Bolto animated movie made in the 90's (along with many, MAAAANY other inaccuracies!), that's the only thing I'm not entirely happy with. Still, really happy that someone picked this is up and seems to be honouring the true history of it.
Oh oh I can tell you how it ends because it's you know based on a true story. Just like Ford v Ferrari. Oh and Apollo 13 ends as well. There is not much plot for movies based on a true story. So it does not matter how much they give away.
For those who don't know, this is suppose to be the true story of the "Balto" movie. What I didn't know years later after watching that movie as a kid is that Balto wasn't the real hero of the story. Well...I'll just word what Nostalgia Critic said in his review of the Balto movie. "Balto did not run the longest, nor most hazardous, part of the journey. The most dangerous and longest run was led by a dog named *Togo, driven by a musher named Seppälä.* In fact, there were 20 mushers of varying dogs used to make the journey. _Balto just happened to be the last one, so he got the majority of the credit. While Seppälä and Togo did the hardest work, _*_it was Balto that got all the fame, even from President Calvin Coolidge._* In fact, there was such a hatred for Balto getting all the credit, that him and his owner, weren't even welcome to the award ceremony in New York for Seppälä and Togo."
@@gabrielstephens8662 I will admit I loved the balto cartoon stories as a kid and still do, but my historian side is aching after finding that Tobo story part out. Even president Coolage was a bit peeved over balto's team getting all the press and credit when Tobo's made it in time on the worst stretch as well as it being a group effort.
Amazing movie!! Watched it last night. The dedication and skill of Togo and Leonhard Seppala and of course the other sled dogs and teams of the day are just mind blowing! Thanks for bringing it to life for us all to see. A reminder to treasure the amazing animals we have on this planet.
Ian Kendall Thank you! My thoughts exactly. Game of Thrones did the breed no good favor it seemed... this is a tough breed to own and people need to do their research.
This is not going to be even remotely as popular as Nemo and dogs are much more expensive and difficult pets than fish. Which is why the clownfish thing happened. Easy pets for parents to get their kids without making a commitment. Not really comparable.
Ive wanted a husky most of my life. I wanted it especialllllly after watching balto as a child. Hasn't changed in my late 20s.....and now that I've seen Togo - which has opened my eyes on the real hero of the serum run (altho i do pity poor balto that was mistreated by some owners later in life)...im def naming my husky Togo. (Future husky lolol). I will have it dammit!
Not exactly. Yes Balto did make a supply run back in 1925 but the sled dog team led by Balto and Gunnar Kaasen was the last team to arrive therefore more people know about them, but Leonhard Seppala and his sled dog team led by Togo made the longest run and most dangerous run and was a star before Balto. So instead of celebrating together as joint effort most of the publicity went to Balto and some people were jealous so much so that even President Calvin Coolidge was also jealous, and when in New York they had a ceremony where Balto and Kaasen were not welcomed
These guys made the longer more dangerous run, Balto and co became the poster boys because they were the ones who actually delivered to the town but they never could have if not for these guys.
It’s such a beautiful movie, Togo is a real hero. The love of dogs is even greater than the love of humans. He’ll always stay alive in our hearts forever and ever. The Leader is still alive. The unstoppable is still alive. If you don’t see this movie, you didn’t see anything.
I see alot people confusing this with the 1995 animated Balto. No this is not a remake, both Togo and Balto did exist during the 1925 serum run but Togo made the longest and most dangerous run while Balto just got all the attention for coming in as the last sled dog team
I’m a cat person but will forever like the Baltimore and Togo story. I may be a cat person at heart, but I volunteer at an animal shelter and walk and care for the dogs.
@David Mc Owner's fault he should serve jail time. My two grandchildren are around my German Shepherd and my female husky all the time. They are always supervised by me, children and dogs can be unpredictable. RIP to the 5 year old girl tragic loss for her family.
Balto had a great run. All these years, getting all the accolades, stories told about him, movies made about him etc but now the truth has surfaced and Tōgō will be remembered as he should be. A hero.
And yet Balto took all the credit because he was with the last team and was the one that delivered the medicine, despite Togo making through the worst part of it all so no wonder he and his owner was not invited the award ceremony
@@heatherfern8879 Because of the credit that was denied Togo and his Musher, who did most of the leg work. This is a perfect example of what happens in the work-world all over. A long employed team does the heavy lifting on a project, then some new guy shows up, finishes the last 10 percent of it, and as a result, gets the credit.
Kassen and balto ran at the last leg returning with the medicine, he covered maybe almost 30 miles, seppala and togo ran longer than him which was around 300 miles and had more dangerous leg added a possibility of huge snowstorms like balto and his team, but so did other teams who i read that several men and dogs suffered frost bites and die from hypothermia along their journey to deliver it
Both the dogs balto and togo were amazing... Don't compare or underestimate them wd each other. They both deserves respect and honour.. They made the history... Love u both togo n balto... U both saved the people lives in tough situation... .. A real example of dog n human friendship 😘😘
I had gave up because I have diabetes and neuropathy and both my feet and one arm is really bad but seen these great movie made me admire that dog I wish I had his will power his courage his bravenes all he have and I don't
let's built togo's monument in our hearts and tell stories and tales about him to our children. may he never be forgotten. i will name one of my future dogs in his memory.
I did not watch such a trailer in my life. This trailer, this movie is so good, so beautifully written that I fell in love with the movie. If they ask me about my favorite movie, I will say Togo without thinking.
TOGO I wanna hug you, ending made me cry ;( 20 sled team participated for serm whixh travelled 31 miles on average from which only one sled travells 264 miles with merely impossible tracks while and that's because of Togo
To be honest, I feel all the dogs involved in that medicine relay to Nome, not just the lead dogs but also the sled dogs deserve the same amount of recognition as Balto. Cuz at the end of the day, they're all good bois x3
This movie is worth the cost. I had to hold back tears until I could not. Dog lover or not, this movie is worth seeing promise you will not be disappointed 😁. I hope they put it out on DVD.
goosebumps! i am familiar with balto since childhood, now i watched the trailer, searched about togo..and wallah! been bragging him to my fiance..like a very proud one..no hate to balto though, but togo deserved more :)
Fun fact: Togo really did bust through a window to go back to him! And all the most dangerous stuff in the movie really happened, including the part where Seppala tosses Togo ashore when the ice broke apart, and the dog somehow manages to tow the floe close enough to the coast to enable the rest of the team to follow.
