Kevin the next time i watched the new shi ft t cable video it was fine i fish lake erie alot and finallyut a kicker motor on 20hp tohatsu and now im going to get shift and thorottle controls very good video thank you Ted
An excellent video, with your genius imagination, it would be outstanding that you produce more videos and upload them to your channel. This video was extremely helpful and very easy to understand your presentation. Thank you sincerely for sharing your video.
I am wanting to install throttle control on my kicker mtr and I love your idea. I will be looking to see if I can do the same on my 1996 19' Hewscraft with a honda 7.5hp. thank you for posting this.
Love your video gave me ideas. I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out how to hook up a throttle cable to mine. I have a little 4 hp Suzuki and I’ve got it on my 22 foot sailboat and it’s just impossible to try to control the boat trying to hang off the back you just can’t do it I’m looking just to have control of the boat from up top. Awesome idea how you did yours.
That is pretty good setup for throttle. Love it thanks Have you looked at high thrust prop for that yet? Let u troll slower and in emergency will actually push easier
Thanks for sharing. Good info for sure. I’ve got a 1996 fisher same length and going to add a kicker Kohatsu. Was not sure on size because I’m a troller primarily and need to go between 1 -3 plus mph. If you are got 2 mph at idle then I’m thinking a 6 hp fits my needs to get closer to 1 at idle.
You are probably right. I troll Lake Erie and Lake Ontario and generally 2 mph is the slowest I would go so works well for me. Could probably get a little slower speed if I lowered the idle speed and tilted it all the way down but still wouldn't get it down to 1 mph.
Yeah. You are fishing the big boy lakes and the weather it brings. I’m fishing lakes and reservoirs in California for all trout and land locked salmon. Sometimes they can have serious lock jaw and slow small presentation is the only thing that works.
Great video thanks, definitely going this route. I have a similar boat. Is that a short or long shaft kicker. Edit, saw you already answered someone else
Very good video!!! My question is does that throttle cable let you dial your speed in better. I have a Mercury and use the throttle on the tiller. It is horrible. The response is not good. Thanks.
Thank you. Yes the response is very good on the throttle control. I generally troll anywhere from 2 mph to 3 mph depending on what I am fishing for. I can adjust speed easily while watching the GPS speed at the console and don't have to go back and forth to the motor. I can adjust speed by as low as 0.1 mph increments by nudging the control up or down. Generally it holds the speed very constantly and I only have to adjust it when changing direction to compensate for waves, current and wind direction. Tohatsu actually makes the Mercury kicker motors so set up would probably be very similar.
Wow you're a genius. This was the best video so easy to understand. Just one question do you tilt up big motor while using small motor and how can you steer if large one is up, off and not in water.?? Tia
Thank you. Big motor stays down while using kicker motor. It does help with steering. Kicker motor is tilted up if using the main motor as it is not good to force water though it when not in use and can cause Hydrolock.
Thanks. I have a long shaft 20" and the cavitation plate lines up perfect with the bottom of the hull. Pretty sure the Fishmaster and Superfisherman are the same hull design.
Really cool ideas and definitely storing them for my own project. Are you still shifting the kicker manually or did you rig up something for that as well?
Hi. Not to lift up as it only locks when in reverse gear but to lower the unit when tilted up there is a knob on the side that needs to be pushed back so I use a paint roller handle I had laying around and bent it to shape. Can be seen laying on the back gunnel at 5 minute mark of the video.
@@rudolphvarshine1606 At the time it was just an old cable connector I had laying around. Since then I ordered the proper fittings. I had no idea how much I would need so i bought this. You can probably find shorter length if you search.www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B082Y77712/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
@@kevinnixon4248 Do you have a complete parts list for the remote throttle? I am in Canada as well so it would be easy for me to replicate your set-up. Thanks for any help!
Cool. Thanks for that. Do you have a link for the inner cable you used. I cant find anything longer than 8 feet. I found the outer shield you used on amazon. Just cant find the inner stainless steel cable that runs in side it
@@HondaRyder2002 I used a wire called Aircraft Cable I bought from the local TSC store by the foot but if you google Aircraft Cable it is available in other places. Just make sure you get a gauge that will slide through the jacket
Hi. I have since changed it to a DIY as I added shift control as well. They are pretty easily found if you google Lawnmower Throttle Control. No idea where you are located but bought mine here www.princessauto.com/en/convertible-throttle-control/product/PA0008673014 If you don't mind waiting cheap here www.aliexpress.com/item/4000393716175.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.193.42dc18028zHWOl
