Malo ni Mark. There are similarities but Gagana Tokelau is uniquely its own. There is conjecture that the first settlers landed on Fakaofo @540 CE may have come from Samoa - hence the similarities. Personally, as a Samoan national fluent in my own tongue, and having spent large amounts of time in the three villages from 2017 to 2019, I still grapple with speaking and understanding it. Although, many of my fellow Samoans (and Tongan and Tuvalu friends) living there are extremely well versed and fluent in speaking Gagana Tokelau. I am envious of them as I continue to learn.
@@elishayahu Talofa thanks for explaining, is the Tuvalu language the same as Samoan or Tokelau language?I've heard Tongan is quite different to Samoan language.
