The suspense horror/dark fantasy story is set in Tokyo, which is haunted by mysterious "ghouls" who are devouring humans. People are gripped by the fear of these ghouls whose identities are masked in mystery. An ordinary college student named Kaneki encounters Rize, a girl who is an avid reader like him, at the café he frequents. Little does he realize that his fate will change overnight.

Lampa Oficial Well, from the manga, Kaneki 'died' but was actually captured by Arima and is now a Ghoul Investigator under the name Sasaki Haise. That happened as well with the anime, besides the whole Investigator thing.

I definitely prefer some older anime like cowboy, but those have flaws too. Its nowhere near perfect, but it mixes fighting with emotions and themes you won't find in other places. The anime wasn't wonderful, but the manga does a great job and it's worth reading before the anime (thats what i do at least)

Very Life changing quote, tokyo ghoul has so much meaningful messages, i also like the on in the beginning of the manga where kaneki says " it's not me who is wrong, it's this messed up world" and then later on he learns to accept himself and the world he lives in " this world isn't wrong, it just is" what a beautiful journey of self acceptance

Being an overall bad anime (based on manga) it has really been a masterpiece! Don't know why me and many other people watched and rewatched 4 seasons again and again, just to enjoy the story, the characters, the osts and everything else one more time. Maybe that means that if Tokyo Ghoul had been done correctly (long seasons like SNK) it would have been THE BEST ANIME of the history!

@@Kuukkeli66 I agree. I feel like the first 2 seasons had underlying character struggles, something that could have been a psychological horror category about struggling with accepting who he is. Then season 3 came along, gave him amnesia, and changed the story in a different direction. Seasons 1 and 2 I will cherish for the rest of my life. I just wished the other seasons kept the same feel.
