Sangenjaya is a neighbourhood 2 stations away from Shibuya, although it is close to the city it has a nice neighbourly vibe, but with a grungy edge.
There are so many things to do here - nice cafes, the shotengai shopping street, free observation deck where you can a great view of Tokyo and of course my favourite, the back alleys aka yokocho.
Places visited:
・Komeda Coffee
www.komeda.co.jp/index_en.php
・Sangenjaya Shotengai Shopping Street
・Carrot Tower Free Observation Deck
www.japan-trip.jp/area/shibuya...
・Sangenjaya Sankaku Chitai
In these back alley ways (yokocho) there are many restaurants and Japanese styled bars (izakaya).
They are all around Tokyo - here are just a few.
Harmonica Yokocho (Kichijoji)
Omoide Yokocho (Shinjuku)
Ebisu Yokocho
Yurakucho Sanchoku Inshokugai
Kimchi Yokocho (Koreatown Ueno)
Ameya Yokocho
Sugamo Variety Yokocho
Nabeya Yokocho (Nakano)
Nonbe Yokocho (Shibuya)
Amazake Yokocho (Ningyocho)
Okazu Yokocho (Torigoe)
Sankaku Chitai (SangenJaya)
Daiichi Ichiba (Koenji)
Suzunari Yokocho (Shimokita)
Hoppy Dori (Asakusa)
Ebisu Yokocho
So go out there and get exploring :)
Subscribe and join me on my journey! ☺

I don't remember how I discovered your videos, but i'm so glad I did. You're so interesting and charming! Are you kidding about the Sky Carrot? It looks like to me that it's called a carrot because it's tall, because it's skinny, and especially because it's orange! Hahaha

Good job as usual! The biggest difference between your videos and the ones made by some other Japan-residing foreigners with far more subscribers is that yours are actually informative even to us Japanese people while the others are too often about the same few touristy spots in Tokyo. Seems to me that they are actually uninterested in going where the locals go.
@internationallyME
@internationallyME 7 лет назад
Good morning :) It's because those get more views and are searched more on the Internet. It doesn't really bother me though because I'd rather put something I love sharing, like these local areas. The touristy areas are only the surface of Japan. Thank you for the comment 😀

( Also know that you're guys video in "china? / korea?" town was pretty cool as well. And most definitely on my list)

Okay, I will try to! There's actually already a lot of videos about the transport system in Japan on youtube already - so check them out if your interested :) I'm sure you will be fine, you can ask people around you if you get lost!
