As Mikey fully succumbs to his dark impulses, he believes he can finally release his pent-up pain. He immediately lunges at Takemichi with Haruchiyo's katana, attacking him relentlessly while laughing maniacally. Takemichi tries to fight back but is repeatedly injured by Mikey's onslaught.
During the fight, Haruchiyo calls out to Takemichi, explaining that Mikey and his dark impulses are inseparable and that everyone who has tried to rid Mikey of these impulses has met their demise. Takemichi yells at Haruchiyo to shut up and continues to face Mikey. In a desperate move, Takemichi lunges at Mikey but is struck through the stomach with the katana. Despite the severe injury, he refuses to fall, instead hugging Mikey and telling him that he will bear Mikey's dark impulses and that they are friends for life.
This heartfelt declaration brings Mikey back to his senses. Takemichi, barely conscious, asks for Mikey's hand in desperation to time leap once more, expressing his determination to keep trying until everyone can live a happy life. As Takemichi loses consciousness, he tells Mikey he will keep trying over and over again. Realizing the extent of what he has done, Mikey and the others are brought to tears. Mikey yells out Takemichi's name one last time but receives no response, leading him to scream in agony at the loss of his friend.
