I made two videos about shokunin a month ago. However, that’s just the boring general definition. Today you will witness them demonstrate incredible skills and speed.
With two Tokyo Shokunin, Kiri tansu Shokunin: Katayama Haruo and Kiri tansu finish Shokunin: Ijima Masao. Let’s see how paulownia's wardrobe chest of drawers is made.
Tokyo wardrobe is made of warm wood and beautiful grain of paulownia wood. It used for generations seems to contain the thoughts of craftsmen, who have been pursuing the creation of consistently beautiful Kiri tansu as well as traditional techniques that have been refined since the Edo period.
Kiri Tansu shokunin: Katayama Haruo (片山晴夫)
Address: 台東区竜泉 - Ryusen, Taitō, Tokyo 110-0012, Japan

I have so many projects in mind, and now we have this on the list too 😆!! I find the idea of planting a tree for the future really smart. Maybe is not going to be used now but you can count on it in the future, even for a simple shade in your backyard or garden ☺️!

thanks for being brave enough to leave comments turned on. many weak channels like HNK disable comments because they are afraid to let people be honest.

Why doesn't the across-the-grain expansion and contraction of the bottom of the drawer with seasonal humidity changes cause problems? Are the drawer bottoms plywood?

it seems like the finish and hardware guy was not being as careful and diligent as the carpenter. the way installed the screws on the hinges looked sloppy
