Thanks for making this video, I’ve been making cabs and using only 3m super 77 but wanted to see if I was using it wrong or possibly needed another product, after watching your video I tried weldwood contact cement: both have pros and cons and I tend to wrap my builds quickly so spray adhesive seems to be the way to go for me. This was highly informative!
I saw a video that involved a heat gun to soften tacky glue and make tolex pliable to wrap corners and contours elegantly. This is important to my projects. Your video doesn’t mention use of heat applied. Can you advise?
Thanks for making this, I’m about to wrap a custom 2x12 guitar can today and I’m debating wether or not to use only Super 77 or weldwood Contact cement. I find the Super 77 to be easier to work with and produce cleaner results, but it doesn’t always bond 100%
Do you have any idea what might be the difference between the Wilsonart 600 and the 950/951? They appear to be the same glue, but the 600 is labeled, "Consumer Brush/Roller" and the 950/951 is labeled as "Professional use only Flatwork Spray Grade." I imagine that the 951 has more solvent added so it is thinned for spraying. But... I cannot find anywhere that says anything about actual adhesion. I would think that for an amp or pedal board, any contact cement would work fine for a DIY'er. It's not like we take our pedal boards scuba diving or through a war zone. Although... with some of the backstage areas I've seen... it might be hard to tell.
