Tom Anderson Mongrel Demo: Pickup Switching, Splitting & VA Mid Boost - By Zayn

I've yet to find videos on youtube that thoroughly demonstrate the capability of the switching, splitting and the VA (mid) boost on these guitars. This particular guitar, is a recent addition to the Tom Anderson line, that they call a "mongrel". It is basically a strat & tele hybrid. Strat contours as well as strat pickguard configuration. But Tele Body shape WITH a non bigsby tremolo :) !! This video was made to convey the wide range of the tonal palette, and the versatility in the sounds that Tom Anderson instruments offer. (I'm playing through a Fender Twin reverb and the amp settings are bass: 3 mid: 4 treble: between 3 & 4) Big shoutout to Roy at Tom Anderson guitars for making my sonic visions come to reality, and shoutout to my brother Daniel Flores for having the will to film this. If you were to ever make a video with some tips as to how you built up your speed I know I'd watch it. Either way, great video, great guitar, superb playing. After a while I just started trying to keep up with which directions your progressions went musically.

@unohu2 Thanks for the kind words! The wah is a custom audio electronics. Yes I did custom order the guitar as I couldn't find 1 stock that had a big enough neck, frets or pickup config I wanted :( as far as online courses I have no idea I'm afraid. Your best bet is to listen to J Dilla cuts, if you play guitar, listen to Spanky Alford, Wes, check out under ground neo soul, underground gospel, listen to world music, just feel the music flavour is to do with tasting n sensing not courses,as such

@globalisley Thanks brother. And the finish is actually a translucent sparkle plum, its a flame maple top though, not quilted or solid, and natural back. Hope that helps man. Warm regards.

Hi! I have the TA Hollow T and as others have asked, what are the humbucker’s in yours? I’m interested in the bridge because the sound you got at the end was amazing. I know it’s the SC series, just wondering which one?

@scarem84604 Yes my brother! Its a vintage style tremolo, and I have it set up so that its slightly floating just enough to be able to pull up half a tone or so. Its not good for tuning stability, or playing open positions, but I find it to be very expressive.

Check out Guthrie Govan. His (Guthrie's) playing reminds me of this. Govan also plays with a fantastic three piece called The Aristocrats. Their self titled album is the best representation.
