Hi, I love that the dimensions are now displayed on your wooden box. Such a wonderful detail that's super helpful when we're getting lost in the sauce with numbers :)

Looking forward to seeing the Aeronaut/Techonaut comparison video. I'm saving up to buy my first Tom Bihn bag, and am torn between those two. I'm a newbie to One Bag/minimalist travel, and your videos have helped tremendously in making gear decisions. Thanks for all you do!

Nice review. I've had and used this bag for years. Mine is in the halcyon material. It's one of my absolute favorite bags!

Here's an interesting thing I like about this bag. The optional frame sheet that you can get with this bag isn't really necessary when the bag is packed full. However, I like the Eddie Bauer stowaway backpacks as my packable backpacks. And the A30 frame sheet fits perfectly within the Eddie Bauer 30L stowaway backpack, giving it structure and back protection. You can legitimately hand carry the A30 while wearing the packable backpack with the frame sheet, giving you a very comfortable two bag carry option when you want it.
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 2 месяца назад
Interesting, I hadn't thought of using the frame sheet with another pack but that's a great idea.

Tom Bihn is truly a “Buy it for life” brand. I use the Synik30 for travel often and that thing can not be killed. Rain, sleet, snow, falls, every type of abuse and this thing keeps on keeping on. Thanks for the review. Excellent as always.

I bought the Pilot, which is the similar in design to Aeronaut but personal sized. Think they make great looking and functional briefcase style bags.
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 2 месяца назад
Indeed they do, I have the Tristar as well which is a completely different design but is a good briefcase style bag.

Another good review. I like the chunky zippers! One thought though is that you include both metric and imperial measurements as the former is much more widely used.
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 2 месяца назад
I try not to ramble too much with number in the video so I put the metric conversions in the description with dimensions and weight.

Ya'll know Michigan is brutal on luggage :-) Sincerely, your bags will take a beating slugging to work in a car or backpacking Vietnam but appreciate you visited that state. I've done some of the Detroit and Dearborn (The Henry Ford is amazing) and look forward to returning to see Yooper. Love your reviews and have TB on my list when I give up another bag I already have.

Haha!!! I like the box dimension display! A few observations on the Aeronaut: . Main compartment lid seems small compared to the storage space. . Seems like the main compartment lid is upside down. If the lid flip down instead of flip up, you could carry briefcase orientation and partially unzip to reach into main compartment. . Not sure why side compartment separator is attached w zipper. Why not just have a pouchy separator (full shape of side compartment) that can pouch out either direction. Only thing I can think of is that, when zipped, it contains the main compartment to tighten up the pack when not fully packed out. I'd save the zipper weight and complication and omit the zipper in the separator. . I like the centered shoulder strap loops. I realize some bag designs don't allow a centered loops but the offset loops bugs me. But better that than both loops on side of the bag (instead of centerline). Black Ember Forge is example of should strap hooked into the side and resulting in an eccentric load that I don't like (especially when expanded and packed out).
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 2 месяца назад
Those are fair criticisms. 1) I agree, the lid could be bigger but I don't think it's too small and I like the look at that size. 2) I see how that would be useful in certain circumstances, but it may make it more awkward to open when laying down with the handle facing you. 3) Yes I was thinking this too, I like the feature and I can see why a stiff separator is useful, but it would save a lot of weight if they removed the zipper and just kept it as a floppy separator. 4) Probably depends on bag design and where the seams are, I've tried offset shoulder straps and it works on some packs but maybe not all. The center straps work well here.

Hi! Huge fan of the videos. I've been looking into a pack called the Jansport Odyssey. It seems really feature rich and is also very reasonably priced (80 on Amazon), but I can't seem to find any review on it on RU-vid. It seems to compare well with packs like the NF router. Would definitely appreciate a review if possible! Thanks

Jansport gear is generally high quality, I haven't actually done any Jansport reviews yet but I like there gear for general EDC and school bags, also can be used as travel or personal item. I'll probably do a Jansport roundup at some point.

Great review! It looks like the shoulder strap attachment points are off-centre and the bag sticks outwards because of that. Must be a revision as this isn't the case on older releases. How does it carry as a duffle using the shoulder strap compared to other duffels where the attachment points are centred - did it bother you at all?
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 2 месяца назад
I see what you're saying with the attachments being a little more towards the front of the pack. I didn't even notice it when I was carrying it like that.

Is a personal item the same as under the seat? And also what’s the max for under the seat?
@OneBagTravels

Yes personal item means under the seat. It varies by airline and the kind of ticket you have. You have to check the airlines baggage limits on your flight.

Thank you for this. I’m really looking for a personal item bag I can slide under the seat on a us airline. This bag seems a little large for this? What would you recommend? This will be the only bag I carry. Maybe there is a max liter size I should be thinking about? Thank you.
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 2 месяца назад
Osprey 26+6 is a good under the seat bag. Generally 25 liters is about the size you're looking for with a personal item bag, some bag be a little smaller or larger depending on how they're organized.

I totally get why they’re expensive, but I do wish the Techonaut and Aeronaut were closer to $300 and $275 respectively 🥲 And plans to review the Goruck Kit Bag at all?
