TylerM4197 He hinted at it when he first announced on Facebook that he was releasing them. He basically said he wasn't going to let the songs go to waste even though he had them in mind for Blink.

shango113 thats what i thought too... off topic.. if anyone else is following the Poet Anderson comics... the two main characters are brothers Jonas Anderson and Alan Anderson.. Tom's son is named Jonas, and Alan.... Mark's full name is Mark Allan Hoppus. Might be coincidence but i don't think so. Its Just sad that Tom might been thinking of Mark while working on the main characters on his projects, then all this shit happened.

This is like the older, more mature "My First Punk Song." "My First Punk Song" is like the dude at the party with long shaggy hair, his shirt off, his cargo shorts sagging, the Hanes waistband showing on his boxers, with long black nike socks coming out of his DC shoes, who's wasted running around the party jumping into people, jumping off the balcony into the pool, and other shit like that all while going "WHOOOOOoooooooOOOOOooooooo!!!!!!!!" to prove how crazy he is. Meanwhile this song is the slightly older guy with shorter, slightly spiked hair, who's walking around the party just buzzed saying hey to all his friends and mingling with folks without being an obnoxious douchebag, and just being a cool dude. Dudes always try to call him out and own him in beer pong or darts and dude just effortlessly beats them without even having to trash talk. Girls like his company because he's got this whole chill and dependable vibe but is smooth as can be. Everybody should go through the phase of the first guy, but by spring semester junior year of college, you should be the second guy. That's how I see these two songs.

New World was fucking solid! Not Toms best song by far but it gets you going and I like the melody. The Invisible Parade is a new song to Toms really small collection of acoustics. Nice! And this? Not too bad either! I don't think it sounds exactly like My First Punk Song but it's it's in the same league. All 3 of these songs were good, but it's cool that they're all in different leagues!

This is one of the coolest things I've heard from this man in a long time. I can't stand the other two songs on this solo album however. I wish he'd focus more on the Fugazi/post hardcore punk sound he had going with Boxcar Racer. I think it would work with how he is feeling these days. This song proves it. Let go of your U2/Pink Floyd/80's Art Pop influence Tom. It doesn't exactly work for you. Even though there have been some pretty awesome songs in the last few years.

poptarts85 DED was a whole lot better than Neighborhoods. It also came out that Tom spent the most time on that album. Mark and Travis just came in for a couple weeks while Tom spent months in the studio.

To everyone who says it sounds like my first punk song, anyone that has listened to or played blink, boxcar or even Ava over the years shouldve realized by now that a lot of the songs use the same chords, same progressions, maybe played at different paces. So this shouldn't be that big of a shocker that it sounds like an older song. You could say that about any song he's put out. Doesn't mean it's bad but why point out the obvious.

NfamousShirley1 I'm sure that anyone who even knows "My first punk song" probably knows all of those things you said. It isn't a shocker that any of Tom's songs sound similar (they often sound almost identical) But I think what people are pointing out is that this song and "My first punk song" are the only two songs Tom has written that sound like THIS. (The "I'm trying way too hard to sound like the punk bands embedded in my roots" sound) Which he shouldn't have ever even done in my opinion, because as a younger dude I always thought Cheshire Cat and Dude Ranch were TRUE punk, simply for the fact that they weren't trying to sound like anyone but themselves. They pioneered the sound of "crappy pop punk" in the 90s, both with Toms crazy lead and rhythm guitar work and lyrically.

James Kozeluh personally i like his x 3 x beats because they are fire. on his new mixtape that's coming out with pimp daddy cane (the realest O.G.) i managed to get ahold of some of this mixtape from my buddy pete and what he showed me was just.... insanity. what was held in this tape of mixings was so hot that not even the dankest of the danks could fathom listening to this insane in the membrain mixtape. what have you seen? nothing. quit acting like you know things... i seriously doubt you haven't gotten but a single mixtape that contains some, nay ANY fire in it. good day to you, assclown.

I don't feel Tom is really into this song. Sounds like the second part to BCR's "My first punk song" but lacks the emotion and angst he had back then; he's just not passionate about this song or this genre overall, which is maybe why this song had zero promotion from his part.

I'm a fan of Tom Delonge, I'm a fan of Mark Hoppus, I'm a fan of Travis Barker... I'm a fan of Blink-182. All the hate is daft, at the end of the day, if it wasn't for Tom, Blink would probably never have happened or exist as they do today. That being said, I can accept that Blink isn't Tom's priority, I just don't like the way the story has unfolded, there seems to be a lot of anger. I'm not overly keen on Angels and Airwaves, but if it's what he wants to do then who can stop him, it's his life. I will continue to listen to Blink-182 and I'm excited to hear a new album with Skiba. I can relate nearly all of Blink's music to a certain phase of my life and will always love them and their music. Long live Blink-182!

A lot of these demo songs sounds like just that. Demos. Ideas that maybe just didn't quite pan out. Sometimes you start writing a song and get far into it and realize that maybe you just didn't capture what you thought you had.. A lot of this stuff is probably just material that he has collected over the years that didn't quite turn out for him. Sounds like it anyway.

This seems like it was written as a response to everyone who says "Tom isn't punk anymore!!!" and it kinda bothers me. I do kinda like this song but it sounds a little forced. I'm starting to get the feeling that he wrote and recorded some of these songs in the month between him "departing" from blink and him announcing the solo album; New World feels like a "sorry not sorry" song partially about the need to move on from blink and this song seems like a response to everyone who says Tom can't write punk songs. Invisible Parade might have actually been hanging around for some time before he released it but the other two...not so much. I guess we'll get a better idea in a few weeks when the other 5 songs drop.
