God bless public/cable access TV. It allowed this brave man to pave the way for much of the entertainment we enjoy today. Thank you for your service, Tom 🫡
*note to self* upon 3rd time rewatching my FAVORITE Christmas special ... I have been looking for a video to turn into a VHS board game of my own amateur design... this may be it.
When I first watched this, I was 16. Been following Tom ever since. It's great growing old with people we admire, as we watch them search for peace in life. Thanks, Tom Green.
Must be from Ottawa. This is when it was still basically local cable in Ottawa in 95. The Rogers years. Then not long after it was on in all of Ontario. Then the Comedy Network by 97. MTV in 99.
Always loved the idea of some old couple flipping through channels looking for a Christmas special and coming upon this when it first starts, only for the madness to begin shortly thereafter...
@Ali Desch I've always wanted to ask Tom Green if he ever considered making the Green Tom show. I know it's kind of a dumb question, but I mean it could have been funny to make a special that was a bizarro version of his regular show in some way.
hey tom, hope you have a merry xmas with your loved ones, it has become a tradition for me to watch this on chrmass every year, thanks for the company, keep it weird.
Woke up and just watched this from beginning to end with a couple coffees on a sunday on december 10 and gotta say it was a great way to start the day.
I experience extreme pain. Hard belly laughing for ten minutes can bring up to six hours of increased pain relief. This is my go to video for that. Tom, you are a genius, and deeply appreciated. Thank you for being the person you are. You bring so much good into this world.
If that's true, I feel bad for you. Some parts had me laughing so much my lungs hurt, that would suck going 23 years without being able to see it again.
90% of the reason I find this so funny is that I'm imaging what it would be like if you were gathered around the TV with your family in 1995 and accidentally turned this on. Jesus christ what a trip.
I remember watching this when I was 16, I'm laughing just as hard at 43. Timeless. What a treat for those of us that (for whatever reason) laugh hysterically at this. Much love Tom Imagine if Anne Murray joined via satellite
The first time I ever saw Tom Green, he was doing a segment where he sprawled on the curb with a mangled bike, convincing people he was hit by a car. Loved him ever since. Oh, and this Dan guy sounds like the life of the party!
The freeking windmill - needed this one today! Your raw range - still entertains and intrigues us!! I still wanna kick Dan in the face! hahha (was it You Might Think - by the Cars? 1984 )
Ya know I grew up watching all his episodes knowing it was special then...a new breed of candid comedy. This however is my favorite piece of performance art from our buddy Tom....the legend. This was of legendary proportions. So glad to behold, it's absolutely hilarious and so many other things....I was frightened :D
I kept checking the time on the video to see my progress. Would you believe I watched this in one sitting?!? Bravo Tom! You kept a man with undiagnosed ADD on one task for ~59 minutes! More please!!
I'm going to make my kids watch this every Christmas, and when they tearfully ask why, I'll tell them that if we don't watch the crazy man on the TV, he'll come over.
Thanks, Tom! You pioneered the way for all the wannabe trolls. I remember as a teenager trying to get everyone turned onto you, but they just didn't get it. Now everyone wants to be Tom. A toast to the original!
It's like people say Tom Green was genius. It seemed like the minute things got stagnant he would spice it up with a voice change or a little simple change in energy that brought you right back into it. His comedy was even better. I love watching this stuff man.
Oh that I may live to see this again!! Thanks man - haven't watched this since before RU-vid even was a thing, been checking every couple of years if someone finally put this up. Thanks man!!
Hey Tom, Scott P from Toledo. I opened for you at Connxtions in 2012. Thanks for this. This video sums up what I love about Tom Green comedy. The confusion and mayhem. Always been inspired. Hope the tour is going well!
Thank God you found and uploaded this. I have searched years and years for this to turn up somewhere. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime achievement. It's like Pet Sounds, but if Pet Sounds were improvised and recorded in one take in front of an audience.
